A few clarifications: 1. I really hate the cgi on the lizard in TASM 1. It looks terrible to me. I think it’s partly because the design is really bad but it takes me out of the movie which is what bad cgi is. That’s what I was referring to. But if you think it looks great, that’s fine. I do think TASM 2 has the best CGI out of all the spider-man movies. 2. “Happily ever after” is a joke, it’s a way of coping with the pain lmao. 3. People saying “people only appreciate the tasm movies because of nwh and how dare they become new fans” need to stop. I was one of those people who loved the tasm movies when they came out and I’m happy that they’re getting new fans. Keep in mind that the movies came out 9/7 years ago and that teens who were like 8 when the movies came out are discovering them now and that’s fine! You aren’t a fake fan if you watched and loved the tasm movies after nwh regardless of age and I just thought I’d mention that :) 4. Would anyone be interested in a part 2? They have so many great scenes that I had to cut a bunch out due to copyright.
I’d love a part 2. And yeah, I don’t know what they were thinking with that design for the Lizard. I mean, if they made his face more similar to the comics it would be harder to express emotion but him with a human face just looks bizarre.

i really love how they moved to england and lived happily ever after and peter is spiderman there bc they got crime in england and gwen is very successful in her college and peter is also very successful and everything is great !!!
It's the little details Andrew adds to the character that drives me absolutely insane. Like the way he holds Gwen's graduation cap when he was kissing her passionately so it wouldn't fall off. Like it shows that he takes care of her even in a heated moment of reckless romantic gesture.

Apparently that was a blooper by Emma Stone which makes it all the more better. In the script she was supposed to yell SPIDER MAN but accidentally yelled PETER instead, and realizing her mistake she covered her mouth but stayed in character. The director loved it so much he kept that take for the movie.

not only is their chemistry unmatched, but gwen also has agency outside of peter, she’s smart and gives herself amazing opportunities, her life doesn’t revolve around him. and she actually helps peter (unlike mary jane who is just a pawn to be threatened and saved). she’s an interesting fleshed out character who helps drive the plot. i love the choice to have gwen find out in the middle of the first movie, it makes her much more useful and important beyond just being a love interest. gwen also fell in love with peter first, mary jane fell in love with spider man. anyway that’s why i agree and this is the best ever superhero couple
Love Gwen but Raimi Mary Jane is the only female love interest to have meaningful scenes that have nothing to do with Peter in all 3 movie franchises, while Gwen and MCU MJ’s scenes revolves around Peter and Peter’s problems. Mary Jane had the most going on outside of Peter, with her childhood and her interest in acting and her insecurities in needing to be liked because of how she was treated as a child. You don’t have to like Mary Jane, but she is the one love interest that had the most going on outside of her male counterpart.

Coming back to this makes you realize how different this Peter's personality was. He's not a kid like Tom or a struggling adult like Tobey, he's a cocky teen Spiderman who's near the 'golden age' of his career. He's very emotional and expressive.
People who say Andrew was bad at being Peter Parker make me feel disappointed that they missed out on how GREAT he was as Peter Parker. Unlike what everyone said, he wasn't too cool or suave, he was awkward and had trouble expressing himself and had baggage from being left by his parents at a young age. He had all the heartfelt scenes AS Peter Parker. Reducing him to "Andrew was good as Spider-man and bad as Peter Parker" (and then saying Tom was better as both, when Tom's was kind of a perky kid 90% of the time rather than a struggling young man in most of his MCU appearances) is writing off a great performance.
@@Nightman221k I think the trouble was trying to fit all those layers onscreen. His experience with theater probably added a lot of subtle work too. If you watch it again, he plays Peter like a highschool romance protagonist. On a first watch, that probably felt a bit too chaotic for people.
@@ArkayeCh I think that people thought he was "too cool" because he skateboarded and dressed in non-dorky clothing. Those things don't mean he's popular though. I got the impression that he was an outsider since he seemed like a loner and stuttered a lot. He does come off less nerdy when he tried to get Flash to stop tormenting the younger kid, so that scene I'd say was making him more of a heartthrob since it showed he's brave even without powers and going against a big basketball player like Flash; not a meek nerd. But I still think Andrew pulled off making him awkward and goofy enough to believably be Peter Parker.
it would have been better if it was scripted to perfect like other iterations of spider-man. instead of trying to improv nearly every interaction. it might feel real to you, but it’s not real to how spider-man/peter parker acts in the comics. have a great day

Actually when I was watching that part I stood up from my seat and said no when Peter could not save MJ but when Andrew saved MJ I was like yes! But then I started to cry again so was not a big help!😂

Andrew is such a good actor, especially his physicality. He's always so expressive in his movements that you can actually tell what he's thinking and feeling. He's honestly the most expressive out of all the Spider-men
Great actor, but poorly cast for Spider man. Would have been a good human torch though. Peter is a geek. He lacks confidence, outside of being Spidey, and is socially awkward. There is absolutely no way Peter would kiss Gwen on the Graduation stage, for example Good actor, miscast, with poor writers.

He starts off being the outcast, but after facing against super villains, he isn’t very intimidated by regular students anymore. And, again, I don't blame the actor...the writers just weren't very good. While each has been a good actor, so far, the Tom Holland rendition is the most comic loyal in its depiction of Spidey.
@@MrGreensweightHist While he does act more confident with the mask on, that confidence leaks a bit into his personal life too. Even making fun of Flash directly to his face instead of under his breath. While I do have issues with how TASM Peter had a bit of confidence before the spider bite, it does help transition into his overconfidence in the basketball scene, as well as his general confidence going forward. At least that’s how I personally feel. I donMt want to start an argument on opinions, I just feel that Peter gaining and demonstrating confidence makes sense, no only with the comics, but in other iterations as well. The story of Spider-man is the story of a boy becoming a man, and if he stays the same timid, quiet, low-confidence geek that he was before he got his powers, then he doesn’t really change as a person (outside of Spider-man). While I have also enjoyed the MCU depiction, I really hope he becomes more snarky in his next trilogy
Emma Stone's Gwen is literally the female icon of all spiderman movies She's put together, got her priorities straight, knows what she wants, is selfless but not at the sacrifice of her wants and needs, and is just an all round delight of a character Most importantly, even in her final moments, she's not a damsel

No, in NWH, Andrew’s Peter said that the construction of his webs in the lab was tedious. He didn’t say it was hard to shoot them. He was saying that having to make his webs in a lab for his web shooters was a hassle. The shooting of the webs is second nature to him, however.

This person, cami, is emphasizing how how Andrew said it’s hard and tedious to make webs, but still made the art. When Andrew said it was tedious, he wasn’t saying that making stuff with the webs was hard, but was saying that the production and development of them in the lab was a hassle. It was not hard at all for Andrew to make the art, which deflects cami’s point.

i love them so much, these two were peak romance to me as a teenager. i was around 16 years old when the movies came out and even up until this date i still enjoy the chemistry they had, brings back so much memories
3:16 I don't really see what is that bad about the cg. This film's cg has aged spectacularly well especially considering that fight is entirely cg and the shots of him looking at how far away oscorp is and the final swing are some of the best cg ever.
If not for her doing the heroic risks thousands would have died from the planes crashing. It's really sad that she died but anyone saying she put her life at risk for nothing is mistaken, she was as much a hero as Peter but people don't take that into account.
@@slayerthings850 neither of the MJs had on screen scenes where they got to just enjoy being a couple with Peter. Gwen and Peter worked cause he let her know his secret at the beginning of their relationship and the movies got to show how well they worked together as a couple.

Let the kids relish in their redemption of a terrible Spider-Man arc. I didn't like Emma Stone or Andrew Garfield versions, or the original MJ, and her terrible acting, but that upside down kiss couldn't be beat by anything in this video, so far, but this was their couple. Tobey and Tom were my favorite Peter Parker characters. I don't even like the current Zendaya MJ. I hope they let her stay where she is now and find an amazing Mary Jane finally, somehow, that reflects the one who is as amazing as Spider-Man.
That's because that was Emma Stone's genuine reaction to saying "Peter!" Instead of "Spider-Man!" Like she was supposed to, but the director said it was a "Happy Accident" and didn't break character for Gwen, so he kept it in the movie.
I think one of the cutest things he did was hide his embarrassed face in the crushed flowers. If a guy ruined flowers he brought me and did that, all would be forgotten immediately.
TASM films were first and foremost, an enduring love story that displayed the most intimate parts of humanity: love, heartbreak, and heroism. And that's why they were amazing. The awkward smiles, ruined flowers, hilarious one-liners, spontaneous gestures of affection, and acts of self-sacrifice... the love portrayed was a work of art unrivalled by other superhero films. Anyone who hates on TASM can go pound sand.
Bruh it’s not a romance movie, it’s a superhero movie, and not a very good one. You can like it all you want, but don’t put other people down for actually realizing it’s a bad movie and aren’t blinded by rose colored glasses.

I really liked how they combined Ultimate Spider-man MJ with the more interesting aspects of her main comic self, makes for my favourite version of Gwen.

SPOILERS AHEAD It really hurt when we lost her. It's funny, I've read the comics before (several years before this movie was a thing) and as soon as we saw set-photos of her outfit, I knew what storyline they were going with. I just didn't expect them to do so well in writing her character, they gave her so much agency while also allowing her to retain the vulnerabilities that make her so attractive to Peter. She's strong but also emotionally disarming, you just want to love everything about her (not to mention Emma Stone is so incredibly beautiful). It's like she was written so even the viewer themselves would fall for her. I knew what was coming, I had known months before the movie even hit theaters, and it still destroyed me. It absolutely _d e s t r o y e d_ me. It hurts so bad I can't really watch this movie anymore because I know the chemistry between Gwen and Peter is gonna reel me in and then they're gonna spear me through the heart at the end of it. It felt almost twisted the first time I had to watch it, because they were literally moments from being in the clear. They had just beaten Electro, and they could have just walked away if little Goblin Jr. hadn't shown up. They were that close to spending the rest of their lives together. It's just not fair.

Damsel in distress means a girl who is endangered and need rescuing. Ofc it can happen to anyone without physical powers. Putting herself in danger did make her someone in need of rescue from Green Goblin.

Emma's Gwen is the best love interest. It's inspired me so much to be like her. She's so so cool, got her shit together and just changed my perspective on female role in general (I grown up watching most of female characters as helpless one and need to be saved, it affected how I see my self and the world, luckily it's changed now).
It's a shame the director had to be comics accurate and adapt her tragic death. I feel like her romance with Peter was one of the most dynamic superhero romances and her helping him was vital to saving the day. The only other modern superhero romances that hit as hard were Steve Trevor and Diana (another tragic one) and Aquaman and Mera.
I never knew that Andrew’s Spidey was actually THAT funny lol. I always appreciated how Andrew portrayed him but now after hearing these jokes (especially the fake locations), it makes me love him even more!

this is probably one of the only movie “couples”/story i will never get over because they’re exactly what true love is. it’s so beautiful, and for how horrifically and sad it ended it really is one of a kind too
I avoided watching TASM 2 for years cause everyone said that Gwen's death was handled badly and I loved her so much in the first movie; but when I watched it... I was kind of blown away by how good TASM2 was. I didn't like the way the Harry subplot was rushed, but I was so invested in Peter and Gwen and wishing against the inevitable that they could have a happy ending cause they were so perfect for each other.
Fun fact: when Gwen screams “PETER!” While webbed to the police car in TASM2 it was an actual slip from Emma Stone and she actually reacted by covering her mouth, it was so funny and on character they decided to leave it in the movie
The part that constantly makes me sad to think about is his giant wall chart having Gwen’s photo with him and the words “Do I have to lose her too?” Cause this poor guy has lost so many loved ones and Gwen was his everything and the one keeping him anchored. It breaks my heart that she was killed for many reasons but it hurts more since she was the most precious person to him.
I really don’t think it’s fair to compare the relationships in the other movies because 1) Andrew and Emma were literally lightning in a bottle. Their real life love story was happening right in front of us, and 2) in all the other adaptations there is a love interest and a best friend. These roles are always separate and played by two different people, (ie Harry/ Mary Jane, Tony Stark & Avengers/Ned/MJ) whereas Gwen served as both friend and love interest. She played both roles which allowed Peter to get closer to her and rely on her in ways the other Peters never have because they either had a best friend, team, or both. In this adaptation, Gwen served as love interest, best friend/confidant, and support/team. That is what made them so great and convincing as a couple but also what ultimately doomed them and cost Gwen her life.

But the CGI did age well, just that one scene were he crawls over his body. But the whole hallway scene, the locker’s beforehand, that was all CGI and it’s amazing.
i think even tho the cgi on that but wasn’t great i think they might have purposely made it that way to actually imitate the way a spider moves, the speed of it, the movability? if that makes sense 😭 but i just like to interpret it that way cause it’s cool lol
Absolutely right,this guy doesn't know what he's talking about,the way Spiderman moves and crawls and swings just seems so real and perfect ,if anything these films still have the best cgi in any Spiderman movie.
They're such a great couple! Out of all of the live action Spidey movies, their relationship is fav. They've got such great chemistry and Peter is a total dork around her in movie one and I love it!
Firstly, Peter and Gwen are my FAVORITE spidey romance couple and the chemistry between Andrew and Emma were seriously, off the charts. I also really like how both of them are really respectful towards each other, and that Gwen is portrayed not just as a pretty love interest, but also an intelligent, brave, logical, and independent young woman who wasn't gonna give up her career and life for love. She's actually part of the plot and helps Peter out when he needs it. She wasn't just peter's girlfriend. She has a life and mind of her own and I love that. At the same time, peter has always been supportive towards gwen in everything she does, even when she was gonna leave. Their love and chemistry was just so real that gwen's death still makes me sad to this day.
The fact that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were actually dating at the time really makes this so much better cause you know that the chemistry was real and wasn’t forced. Makes me wish they would do a third Andrew Garfield movie where they bring back Gwen somehow now that his Spider Man is established as being part of the larger MCU

1. I really hate the cgi on the lizard in TASM 1. It looks terrible to me. I think it’s partly because the design is really bad but it takes me out of the movie which is what bad cgi is. That’s what I was referring to. But if you think it looks great, that’s fine. I do think TASM 2 has the best CGI out of all the spider-man movies.
2. “Happily ever after” is a joke, it’s a way of coping with the pain lmao.
3. People saying “people only appreciate the tasm movies because of nwh and how dare they become new fans” need to stop. I was one of those people who loved the tasm movies when they came out and I’m happy that they’re getting new fans. Keep in mind that the movies came out 9/7 years ago and that teens who were like 8 when the movies came out are discovering them now and that’s fine! You aren’t a fake fan if you watched and loved the tasm movies after nwh regardless of age and I just thought I’d mention that :)

Apparently that was a blooper by Emma Stone which makes it all the more better. In the script she was supposed to yell SPIDER MAN but accidentally yelled PETER instead, and realizing her mistake she covered her mouth but stayed in character. not only is their chemistry unmatched, but gwen also has agency outside of peter, she’s smart and gives herself amazing opportunities, her life doesn’t revolve around him. and she actually helps peter (unlike mary jane who is just a pawn to be threatened and saved). she’s an interesting fleshed out character who helps drive the plot. i love the choice to have gwen find out in the middle of the first movie, it makes her much more useful and important beyond just being a love interest. gwen also fell in love with peter first, mary jane fell in love with spider man. anyway that’s why i agree and this is the best ever superhero couple

Coming back to this makes you realize how different this Peter's personality was. He's not a kid like Tom or a struggling adult like Tobey, he's a cocky teen Spiderman who's near the 'golden age' of his career. He's very emotional and expressive.

People who say Andrew was bad at being Peter Parker make me feel disappointed that they missed out on how GREAT he was as Peter Parker. Unlike what everyone said, he wasn't too cool or suave, he was awkward and had trouble expressing himself and had baggage from being left by his parents at a young age. He had all the heartfelt scenes AS Peter Parker. Reducing him to "Andrew was good as Spider-man and bad as Peter Parker" (and then saying Tom was better as both, when Tom's was kind of a perky kid 90% of the time rather than a struggling young man in most of his MCU appearances) is writing off a great performance.
@@Nightman221k I think the trouble was trying to fit all those layers onscreen. His experience with theater probably added a lot of subtle work too. If you watch it again, he plays Peter like a highschool romance protagonist. On a first watch, that probably felt a bit too chaotic for people.

I got the impression that he was an outsider since he seemed like a loner and stuttered a lot. He does come off less nerdy when he tried to get Flash to stop tormenting the younger kid, so that scene I'd say was making him more of a heartthrob since it showed he's brave even without powers and going against a big basketball player like Flash; not a meek nerd. But I still think Andrew pulled off making him awkward and goofy enough to believably be Peter Parker.

While I do have issues with how TASM Peter had a bit of confidence before the spider bite, it does help transition into his overconfidence in the basketball scene, as well as his general confidence going forward.
At least that’s how I personally feel. I donMt want to start an argument on opinions, I just feel that Peter gaining and demonstrating confidence makes sense, no only with the comics, but in other iterations as well. The story of Spider-man is the story of a boy becoming a man, and if he stays the same timid, quiet, low-confidence geek that he was before he got his powers, then he doesn’t really change as a person (outside of Spider-man).
While I have also enjoyed the MCU depiction, I really hope he becomes more snarky in his next trilogy

No, in NWH, Andrew’s Peter said that the construction of his webs in the lab was tedious. He didn’t say it was hard to shoot them. He was saying that having to make his webs in a lab for his web shooters was a hassle. The shooting of the webs is second nature to him, however.

It really hurt when we lost her. It's funny, I've read the comics before (several years before this movie was a thing) and as soon as we saw set-photos of her outfit, I knew what storyline they were going with. I just didn't expect them to do so well in writing her character, they gave her so much agency while also allowing her to retain the vulnerabilities that make her so attractive to Peter. She's strong but also emotionally disarming, you just want to love everything about her (not to mention Emma Stone is so incredibly beautiful). It's like she was written so even the viewer themselves would fall for her. I knew what was coming, I had known months before the movie even hit theaters, and it still destroyed me. It absolutely _d e s t r o y e d_ me. It hurts so bad I can't really watch this movie anymore because I know the chemistry between Gwen and Peter is gonna reel me in and then they're gonna spear me through the heart at the end of it. It felt almost twisted the first time I had to watch it, because they were literally moments from being in the clear. They had just beaten Electro, and they could have just walked away if little Goblin Jr. hadn't shown up.
They were that close to spending the rest of their lives together. It's just not fair.

Emma's Gwen is the best love interest. It's inspired me so much to be like her. She's so so cool, got her shit together and just changed my perspective on female role in general (I grown up watching most of female characters as helpless one and need to be saved, it affected how I see my self and the world, luckily it's changed now).

It's a shame the director had to be comics accurate and adapt her tragic death. I feel like her romance with Peter was one of the most dynamic superhero romances and her helping him was vital to saving the day. The only other modern superhero romances that hit as hard were Steve Trevor and Diana (another tragic one) and Aquaman and Mera.

my older brother hates tasm movies and i always agreed until i watched them both and just fell in love with peter and gwens relationship
I avoided watching TASM 2 for years cause everyone said that Gwen's death was handled badly and I loved her so much in the first movie; but when I watched it... I was kind of blown away by how good TASM2 was. I didn't like the way the Harry subplot was rushed, but I was so invested in Peter and Gwen and wishing against the inevitable that they could have a happy ending cause they were so perfect for each other.
Fun fact: when Gwen screams “PETER!” While webbed to the police car in TASM2 it was an actual slip from Emma Stone and she actually reacted by covering her mouth, it was so funny and on character they decided to leave it in the movie

I really don’t think it’s fair to compare the relationships in the other movies because 1) Andrew and Emma were literally lightning in a bottle. Their real life love story was happening right in front of us, and 2) in all the other adaptations there is a love interest and a best friend. These roles are always separate and played by two different people, (ie Harry/ Mary Jane, Tony Stark & Avengers/Ned/MJ) whereas Gwen served as both friend and love interest. She played both roles which allowed Peter to get closer to her and rely on her in ways the other Peters never have because they either had a best friend, team, or both. In this adaptation, Gwen served as love interest, best friend/confidant, and support/team. That is what made them so great and convincing as a couple but also what ultimately doomed them and cost Gwen her life.

But the CGI did age well, just that one scene were he crawls over his body. But the whole hallway scene, the locker’s beforehand, that was all CGI and it’s amazing.

They're such a great couple! Out of all of the live action Spidey movies, their relationship is fav. They've got such great chemistry and Peter is a total dork around her in movie one and I love it!
Firstly, Peter and Gwen are my FAVORITE spidey romance couple and the chemistry between Andrew and Emma were seriously, off the charts. I also really like how both of them are really respectful towards each other, and that Gwen is portrayed not just as a pretty love interest, but also an intelligent, brave, logical, and independent young woman who wasn't gonna give up her career and life for love. She's actually part of the plot and helps Peter out when he needs it. She wasn't just peter's girlfriend. She has a life and mind of her own and I love that. At the same time, peter has always been supportive towards gwen in everything she does, even when she was gonna leave. Their love and chemistry was just so real that gwen's death still makes me sad to this day.
The fact that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were actually dating at the time really makes this so much better cause you know that the chemistry was real and wasn’t forced. Makes me wish they would do a third Andrew Garfield movie where they bring back Gwen somehow now that his Spider Man is established as being part of the larger MCU
