Daylight Savings Time was enacted in WWI to conserve energy, then repealed when the war was over, and then revived in 1942 for the second go 'round. After a while it became permanent.
John Dickson Carr was prolific at pumping out plots but even though he was an American he lived in England long enough that he apparently lost his ability to write convincing American characters, or at least that's how it looks in this episode. He mixes up Yank and Brit slang so confusingly it's hard to tell which country these people are living in (it doesn't help that the actors' accents are all over the place, some sounding American and some sounding English).
I love the old time radio station
Binge listening during pandemic😱 Aug 2020. These are better than TV
A very unconventional kind of action-climax, but I love it.
Your title animation is just wonderful. I appreciate the effort that went into it.
"I *DETEST* emotion!"
Love this!
Interesting the announcer refers to time as "Eastern WAR time".
It was war time when this aired.

I did think her name was Dorothy Gale rather than Dale. If it were, this would be where Dorothy from Wizard of Oz went after she grew older.
Clever.
That was a hell of an odd show down at the end, but not a bad episode.
A little too much emphasis on mysteries during this period 😮
