My parents owned a night club where people came to dance. Thriller had just come out when their club had just opened. So it was an exciting time for me to go to the club before it opened with my parents as they showed us how it looked inside with all the colored lights and the movie screens that played videos while the music played. Thriller, Billie Jean and Human Nature was played and I fell in love! I remember going to the store to buy my first poster to hang on the wall. It was Michael Jackson in the yellow vest it said Human Nature on it. I wish I would have saved that one! Anyway thanks for sharing your story! This is what this community needs right now, some positivity and feel good stories!💙

I guess I became a Michael Jackson fan. When I saw the Jackson 5 cartoon show. In 1971 I was 4 years old. I woke up early in the morning. I watched every single show.

I became a MJ fan in 86'. I remember at the age of 5yo I had The Making of Thriller on VHS and watched it every day. I also remember when the Bad video premiered on CBS, it was like an event

It's summer of 1988 in France (where I'm from) and Dirty Diana is #1 on the charts. So much energy in the video, great music, great MJ look... I'm hooked! Got the Bad album on cassette that Christmas and that just reinforced my love for his music. To this day, Bad is my favorite album of all times and that will never change.

On New Year's Eve 2010/11 there were concerts by various artists on television, including Michael Jackson. I was 5 years old and danced to every song. The last song of the concert was Heal the World with all the kids on stage.
    At this moment I knew " I am a Michael Jackson fan"😍😍❤♾
    And I am still today!!!😍😍😍😍❤♾♾

Hi! I became a Michael Jackson fan after watching the 1st part of "Leaving Neverland" this summer. Really! Deep inside I couldn't believe "them", so that I decided to do my own research. And I did! And I am watching all the videos of MJ until now!))) 3 months I've been loving This Man like no other artists I've ever loved!!!!!!
I hope you liked my story))))

Human Nature made me a fan too! Truly a magical song ❤️
I became a fan when I always after school watched on UA-cam Michael's short films. Then the Wembley 88 concert of Human Nature started playing and at the moment when the fans song along with the music I became a fan. The love that Michael was showing the audience and the love that audience was showing him was overwhelming. I hadn't ever seen anything so beautiful

I'm a posthumous fan. I first heard of MJ the day he passed away. I was 10 back then and I didn't really know him before. On that day all the media were talking just about him so I understood that he must have been someone special. Some music tv station was playing his videos all day. I saw Earth Song and I was so shook by it I was like 'Who does that?' Like a video with an actual message - I've never seen anything like that before. That was the moment I fell in love with MJ and I already knew I'd want to know way more about his art.
Now when someone asks me why I'm MJ fan, I tell them exactly what I felt at that moment. His music was not just for entertainment - everything he's done was intended to send a message, make people start thinking about the world's problems and trying to make a change in the world. There is no other artist who's had so much impact in the world through their work and I'm so glad to call myself an MJ fan 😊

I recently became a fan back in May of 2018. As weird as this sounds, My interest in Michael Jackson was sparked by a conspiracy theory, which is not true btw.
Around the time I became a fan, our choir was doing our springtime show called Golden Review. The theme happened to be 80s music. Our teacher had put together a music list on Spotify. Our of all the songs on the list, I was playing Thriller over and over again. Fast forward a few weeks, and the biggest tragedy of my life hits. I had tried out for the advanced ensembles at our school, but failed to land on either one. To me, it was a huge slap in the face because I wasn't expecting it. Golden Review wasn't going so well at the time either. No one really remembered the choreography, or even the lyrics. At one point, I had gotten so stressed out that I stayed home the day after one particular night of rehearsal to go over the music. Now, in between all of this, I had been doing an internet search up and watching videos on MJ. The day after, I had gone back to rehersal, which went much better. That day, I had a mental resolution: I decided that I was a Michael Jackson fan.
Over these past eight months, my love for him only grew. I am so blessed to have been able to listen to his music as well as his message, which still inspired me and always will. :)

I had gotten home from school on the 26th of June, 2009 (i'm from Australia, just clearing that up) and i turned on the TV like i always would do, and there were all these headlines about Michael. I was just about to turn 8 years old. I sort of vaguely knew who he was, mainly the name, but i asked my mum anyway and she told me. Later that evening, my mum changed channels and channel 9 was playing his short films. I remember watching Rock With You and Billie Jean vividly - i was literally in awe of Michael. Never had i ever seen someone so amazing. I became a fan right then and there.

I have always like Michael's music but I became a HUGE fan since January of last year. So last year our house was getting redone so we had to stay at my grandparents house and there wasn't much to do so I was on UA-cam for most of the day watching videos. One day I was scrolling through my recommended then I saw one of Michael's short films. I don't remember which one it was but I think it was something like Billie Jean or Beat It. After I watched it I watched another. Then I ended up having to watch at least one of his videos daily. I continued to listen to his music and watch videos that about him everyday. I started to do research and learned the truth about things. Later in the year like during June I got my first Michael Jackson shirt and I had to wear that shirt at least once a week. Now I have 12 shirts 17 of the Pepsi cans and 1 of the bottles. I have 3 viynl records and like 6 of his cds. He is such a great role model to have. I am glad that I became a huge fan at the age of 12 because now I can hopefully spread the truth to the people who I go to school with and possibly make a few more fans out of the people at school too. ❤️ you Michael RIP

I also became MJ fan last year on January. I did knew who he was, but at that time I just knew four of his songs (Heal the World, We Are The World, Bad and Dangerous). But I never realized that these songs were by Michael. Dangerous is the only song at that time which I knew was by him.
Then one day I was watching You Tube when I came across the music video 'Bad'. I was surprised to know that it was MJ's song. I enjoyed watching the video. Then I decided to look some more of him. I watched Beat It, You Are Not Alone, Black or White, Heal The World and Earth Song. I soon realized that he was a humanitarian. I then began to wonder why some people hate him. Then next day I looked about his history. And I realized that all these rumors about him were false. In one week only, I became MJ fan.
The greatest thing about him was that he was a compassionate person. He did had his problems, but he was misunderstood. He's still misunderstood and he'll remain misunderstood by many until those rumors come to an end. I don't know could someone be so selfish and greedy for his money that they're releasing a 'documentary' to tarnish his image?

My moment: I was on vacation with my dad when I was 7 and the hotel did like a little concert every evening. That day they did a Michael Jackson show. They did all the dance moves but the voices where playback and I think at that time I was never interested in „ adult music“ before (always listened to children music) but they performed earth song and played it super loud all over the hotel and it hit me like nothing ever did before or after! I had literally tears in my eyes and Michaels voice was so powerful ❤️❤️Until then I was the biggest fan but sadly never had the opportunity to see him cause he died only two years after that😢

Unfortunately for me it was the day he died. I was 11 at the time and it was the first major celebrity death I had been old enough to appreciate. I became obsessed with listening to his music and finding out more about him. Then for a while I only listened to him in passing until 6 months ago when I watched the This is it documentary and my love for him became so much stronger. I was going through a tough time and MJ and the MJ fandom helped me through it and he means so much to me.

mj was very a fascinating man. a mistery. his life was complex. he experienced truly, deeply and honestly the very nature of life, of being, in his heart and mind.....and body too....amazing. since an early age, he made very hard choices in his life....he suffered a lot for it.....he just couldn´t deny himself..... life woke him up hard and very early so there was no place to hide, to go back to, but because he was a brave man he kept going forward. a mistery to many, an open book to a few.... yes, he got something....that´s what i´m trying to portray here. he.....got....something....indeed. and it wasn´t his artistry.

I would have to say the exact moment I became a fan is from when I saw This Is It in theaters and watching him perform Human Nature. I remember sitting in the extremely quiet theater and having my mouth open in amazement while watching him sing and dance that song at the same time and OMG, it was just.....mesmerizing! After that night, I went home and started to do research about him and yeah, it just took off from there for me at 19 years old in October 2009.

A similar thing happened to me I was seven years old and I started to like him but over time I stopped watching his videos and listening to his songs, but this summer I went to see the Forever King of Pop musical that is in Spain, And even without being "the dancer" the real Michael Jackson I felt a great connection, I stayed all that night and the next day in shook thinking that I should know more about Mj and here we are 8 months later and as obsessed as when I saw him for the first time. I've always had idols but I've never felt anything as beautiful as what I feel for Michael, he's an angel 👼🏽

Hi! As you say, my parents and my big brother are fans of Michael and His music and videos have always been in my life. But when I felt in love with Him was on Disneyland Paris watching Captain Eo in July 1992. I was 4 (I would be 5 in September) years old and when Michael appeared on the screen something deep inside of me reacted. At that moment I knew that I would love him forever. Today I'm 31 and still love Him even with more intensity than before. Thanks a lot for all your videos!!! Kisses from Barcelona!! 💖💖💖💖😘😘😘😘😘

For me, it was when I was 11. When he passed I was 9 years old and I remember the exact moment I found out he had passed. Then later on when his memorial was on TV my mum was doing my hair and I remember thinking “why the heck are all these people crying???” It’s not like he’s a family member of theirs or anything. (My mum who isn’t a huge huge fan was agreeing). So of course channels/ radios started playing his music so much etc, I don’t remember when exactly I became a huge huge fan but it was when I was 11 I began to understand.
I remember going through things when I was younger because of my personality and how shy I was and feeling really alone in that sense. Thank God for the internet- not just his music and his gift but I began searching about him, learning about him and honestly felt he was the only person in the world who got me and different levels. I felt such a strong connection. It will never leave ♥️. To say “I love you Michael” is an understatement.

It was 1990 and I was 5, I was so full of energy and wouldn’t sit down so my parents put their VHS Making Of Thriller, when Moonwalker came to our small village video rental store later in 1990 my parents rented it. I’d be standing on the sofa singing “you’ve been struck by” while my cousins would pretend to be the back up dancers standing on the floor looking up at Mike on the stairs. My parents had cassettes of Off The Wall and Bad that I was given at that age..Then came Black or White - the Dangerous album brought New Jack Swing to a white audience and I gotta tell you... Teddy Riley is a boss. So, sling that cassette album into the mix. I had Destiny and Triumph on vinyl - INCREDIBLE ALBUMS. So, yeah 1990, I was 5.

I remember when I was little I saw bits and pieces of Michael’s video for Black or White. I have heard his music off and on but never really got that into it. I had heard things about him but never really was a fan. I remember in at the end of November 2018, I was at home laying on my couch looking at videos on Facebook when I came across one of Michael Jackson singing “You Are Not Alone!” I have been going through a lot of stress throughout the year and I remember I was constantly sad. When I heard that song I instantly remember going on to UA-cam and looking for more songs. I came across “Will you be there!” Which I have heard off and on before. I feel like it was a sign. Almost like Michael was telling me something. I instantly was hooked, I listen to his music everyday single day and have been for about two months now. I couldn’t image going on with out Michael’s music. When I’m feeling sad I listen to his music when I’m happy I listen to his songs. I feel a connection with him and I’m so glad that it came to me when it did. Michael is my hero and I love him.

I became a fan the first time I watched the Bad video. I'm talking about the extended version with Wesley Snipes. I remember the exact moment in the video, when the passenger says to Michael "How many guys are proud of you?" And Michael says after a slight pause "Three." That look on his face, I could see in his eyes he was going through what I was going through at the time. I thought it was really good acting.

How i became a Michael Jackson fan is when the first song that came out in the sixties called Big Boy. Then later came the jackson five then Michaels solo albums. Later i got a chance to see the Jackson five in concert here in Chicago my hometown. Jermaine wasnt with them at that time but Randy filled in. It was a great concert. Back in the seventies.

I became an MJ fan in 2008, when I was 10 or 11 years old. My older brother grew up listening to MJ and other 80’s artists, he was showing me his music videos and when I first saw thriller, I got scared of the zombies, but once they started dancing I thought it was funny and cool. After that I just started listening to his music a lot and researching about who he was and about his life, and also watching every one his interviews on UA-cam. I just felt a connection with him and didn’t believe any of the stupid rumors about him. God bless you Michael, we love you! ❤️

For me I grew up listening to Michael Jackson since day one. All day my uncle would plug in MJ Number Ones dVD and I watch his videos 24/7. My first and biggest true musical influence as well as The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. His music was a reminder of how I’m lucky to be here in this wonderful earth and also the ups and downs in my life. He also inspired me to make and write my own music. I play guitar and bass. Usually I write the music then the lyrics. But recently I had melodies and words I sing randomly from my head and I would think and hum them like MJ did. I really admire the way he approached to writing his music and it inspired me to try different ways of songwriting.

It’s so great you reminded us to recall this moment when we became fans 😊
It was summer 2008, I’ve been with parents on vacation, and I got a lot of signs that I understood later. We’ve been walking and my mom heard the song “Bad”, and she said to us “Oh, it’s Michael Jackson’s Bad”, and I had no idea what’s the song, I just heard his name very often before.
Some days later, my parents bought tickets for Michael jackson related dance show, where dancers were dancing by his music, it was beautiful. And before the show, music videos “Man in the mirror” and “Smooth criminal” were shown, and i thought just W O W. I had no words. That was the exact moment!!!
Year later I got tickets for “This is it” as a birthday present, and the summer was a heartbreaking time for me, I was just 12 years old.
    ❤️
    Love you, Michael, forever.
    Thank you for the video!

I remember the exact moment I became a Michael Jackson fan. I was 3 years old watching The Ed Sullivan show waiting for my mother to pick me up from the babysitter's house. I saw his smile and the mole on his face and lost my little mind. In 1984 the Victory tour came to RFK Stadium in Washington DC. I was 17 and had nosebleed seats listening to Michael sing Human Nature and just observing the fans it was beautiful and his voice was crisp and clear I loved him even more. The Jacksons American Dream was an exceptional movie and I agree 1000% that Wylie Draper gave the best MJ performance I have ever seen in my life. He was also one of the dancers in the Remember The Time Video. I was devastated to learn that he passed away so young. He's from Virginia so that made me even more proud because Virginia DC and MD are pretty much considered one area known as the DMV. I feel blessed to have had an opportunity to witness all of Michael's greatness in real time. I truly hope this documentary Leaving Neverland does not taint his legacy. Your enthusiasm about being a Michael Jackson fans touches my heart and makes me emotional....so old girl shed a tear lol....reminds me of my childhood.

When Limewire still existed I had downloaded the Earth Song music video (I was about 10-ish) and listened to it,but I don't think his music really sank in with me until I got my uncle's copy of the HIStory album and played Billie Jean for the first time and ever since I was hooked. Been a fan since 2005 and it's been a great several years for me. I couldn't imagine my life without Michael in it or his music.

So I had to choreograph thriller for dance class and my friends made fun of me for dancing to a pedophile’s song...
I went home upset and did some research and then I was like oh my god Michael Jackson was such an amazing person...
    Now I’m a huge fan!
Also “hi my name is Michael j-“ 😂

Unfortunately, I don't have an exact moment; I really, truly, legitimately was born loving him. He's been in my life ever since I can remember - the cartoon, the music, everything, literally since I can remember, and of the brothers it was Michael that I loved the most. Always. Always. Always. His heart has always spoken to me. In fact, there was a song - I think Kim Fields sang it - called Dear Michael; that was like my anthem, even though I never actually wrote to Michael (you'd have to hear the song to know what I mean). Love this story-time, as a relatively new subscriber I'm having a blast catching up on your videos!

I grew up with parents who were fans. My mom was born in August of 58 just a few days before michael, so she was already a fan. I was born December of 82 when thriller was released. My earliest memories of Michael I have to say I was terrified. I had everything Michael jackson in my room and I remember tearing the poster of him and his brothers off my wall, idk if I thought he was going to come get me or what. When he released the bad album I fell in love 🥰 I was 4 or 5 and I have loved him ever since.

I remember the sequence of events of leading up to and becoming a fan. It was 2007 I was about 11 years old and I had actually discovered Janet Jackson first. My dad is an auctioneer and had to clean out a house. I went with him and he let me pick out of a box of CDs we found in the house. I picked Janet Jacksons Rhythm Nation (no idea why I picked that one...) I fell in love with that album. Listened to it on the way to and from school everyday in my CD player lol. A few months later my parents took me to the store to pick out a toy or item for doing well in school. I picked up Thriller 25 based on last name association to Janet. I’ve been sold ever since!!

There are two moments in my life that sanctioned this immortal seal between me and Michael .... The first was in 1987 when on my ninth birthday they gave me Bad vinyl. The second was when my father gave me the Dangerous cd and shortly afterwards I saw the great concert of the Dangerous Tour in Bucharest in 1992 ... From there it all began ....till today ...

I was really sad that I got know the man only when he died. I was around 11 at the time. I’ve heard his name a couple of times years before, and I also remember seeing a mask, yes a mask, of Michael Jackson years before his death lying around in what I remember to be my aunt’s garage. Ngl, the mask was kind freaky to like my 8 yr old self, then my mom told me what or who the mask was supposed to be. Fastforward 2009, and the news came late June that this great popstar had just passed suddenly. And we all know how BIG the news was worldwide. My mum grew up with MJ, she wasn’t a big fan, but she did like his songs, so she was quite sad when the news broke. And hello 11 yr old me, just wondering who the F was this guy really, and why was he on the news nearly 24/7. Then I see a clip of his Billie Jean Motown perf on the TV, and right there I was just amazed. The performance was so great, so I searched it up on youtube, and everything else followed and I sunk quite deep in the fandom. heehee :>

But if i had to narrow it i do remember being very very very young maybe 2 or 3 and the family watching a vhs copy of motown 25. And i vividly remember watching the jacksons then mj talking to the crowd an then he threw that hat on his head...that was it for me! Also i love jacksons an American dream sooooooo much i tape it when it first ran on abc an watched both parts cus it was a 2 night event over and over and over lol an bout 3 years ago i bought a dvd copy so thats been warn out too lol

This is such a good video but lemme tell y'all my story. So it began when I went to my grandma's house and all my aunts were there and they all loved Michael Jackson and they still do today so anyways I was in my grandma's living room and she has this record player and she has a lot of albums like a bookshelf full and she had like the Jackson 5 album and off the wall and the Thriller album so she told me to pick one and I was only about 3 yrs old going on 4 and I picked the Thriller album by Michael Jackson and she said "good choice, ill put it on for you"and I said "ok" so she puts it on and Wanna be startin something comes on and that beat I swear my mouth was literally on the floor and my cousin and I were really close we're still r today but he loved Michael Jackson too so anyways I started to dance and my grandma was like "wow"and I said "grandma I love this so much and than my grandpa walks in and he's very paranoid till this day and he says "Whats goin on y'all dancing to Michael Jackson without me"and my grandma said well we couldn't wait any longer and my grandpa loves Michael Jackson also so does my aunt's and my parents still. So that's my story,i will always love Michael Jackson and I will never stop loving him.♥️♥️♥️
