I love this episode! Thank you, Allie and Jeremiah!! Allie, I’d love to hear more apologetics stuff on your show. Maybe you could invite Jeremiah back for a “part 2”??
Jesus Christ said I am the resurrection and the life he that believeth In me though he were dead yet shall he live praise God praying for everyone everyday God bless you all 🙏
Praise Jesus, speak brother. I said the same thing within days of my daughters still birth at 37 weeks. Without the resurrection of Christ I have no hope but because of Jesus Christ’s death and life I know I will see her again. God could have saved her life but He chose not to, and I don’t hate him because of that. His goodness is not contingent on what He does or doesn’t do. He is good, because it’s His very nature. Thank you for sharing.
Apologetics is so so important for church and modern day christianity. I have been studying apologetics teachers and this field has opened up my mind to understand and strengthen my faith. Also to bring the gospel to those who dont believe.
That is hilarious, because I actually think that the existence of apologetics completely undermines the idea that there’s an all powerful, all knowing, all present God who actively _wants_ to have a personal relationship with all of humanity. There’s no reason, in principle, why a tri-omni deity can’t simply demonstrate his own existence to everyone, or discuss his thoughts on his own behalf. If God _wants_ to have a relationship with me, for example, and I can deny him that which he wants, then it stands to reason that God is not all powerful. If God doesn’t know how to establish a relationship with me, then he isn’t all knowing. And if he simply doesn’t _want_ to have a relationship with me, then that’s his prerogative and he bears responsibility for the ramifications of that decision. Why would an all powerful, infallible God set up a system in which mortal, fallible people try with less than perfect success to “spread God’s word”, when he can presumably achieve perfect results all on his own by spreading his own word himself? Do you imagine that human beings would be more effective than a tri-omni God at literally any imaginable task? So why does God have imperfect, fallible people doing his work for him? People doing “God’s work” looks identical to what you’d expect from a completely manmade religion.
I would say that apologetics often has the opposite effect. Most Christians never seriously studied the evidence for Christianity and when they listen to the best arguments that Apologists have to offer many Christians realize that the evidence is much worse than they thought which then causes a lot of doubt.
Exactly! Early Christians didn't spread the Gospel through "blind" faith, they offered a rational and evidentiary belief. Too many Christians have fallen for the skeptics lie that Christians only believe in a worldview they were indoctrinated into rather than one they have reason to believe. Faith is trust, trust built through evidence and personal experience.
@@cherylm8017 At best the disciples and the earliest followers had evidence… but everyone who came after them converted based on no verifiable evidence whatsoever.
@@cherylm8017 - Did Jesus’s followers directly observe the supposed “resurrection” of Jesus, or did they more “trust” and/or have an “evidentiary based faith” that Jesus was resurrected? Jesus Christ died for our Sins According to the scriptures and that he was Buried and that he Rose again the third day praying for everyone everyday God bless you all 🙏🙌🙏
Great show, Allie! Right on the money. If we listen to it "with ears to hear", "we shall know the truth, and the truth shall set us free." (Mark 7:16; John 8:32)
I've been interested in who Jeremiah Johnston is ever since I walked into the local Christian bookstore and noticed there were dozens of books with his name on them. This podcast was really interesting and I am truly grateful that you had him on the podcast, Allie. 😊

I’m a 30 year old young adult and This episode sparked a fire in my soul! I feel so encouraged and motivated to be part of an apologetics ministry !!!!!
Ok, let's start you off with an easy question. Why do you believe in the truth of 1 Corinthians 15: 14, when no Christian apologist has ever come remotely close to providing even a mustard seed's worth of empirical evidence to support the biblical resurrection claim?
@@downenout8705 That's a very dumb claim to make. There are plenty of atheist and agnostic scholars who'd admit that there's some evidence for the Resurrection, Christianity, and God. Even if they don't find the evidence convincing enough, most wouldn't deny that it exists. This is just a stale internet atheist cliche that most serious atheist philosophers would reject.
@@Jimmy-iy9pl Instead of the strawman where you ignore the word "empirical", just refute my assertion with a single sentence containing that precious mustard seed's worth of empirical evidence to support the biblical resurrection claim. I am however, as confident as I am that the sun will rise tomorrow that this you will never do, because there is no empirical evidence. All you have is a few hundred words contained in a collection of stories written by anonymous authors decades after the supposed events and a few sentences in some letters from a man named Paul. That isn't, and never will be, empirical evidence. This, at best, hearsay testimony isn't, and never will be, sufficient pseudo evidence to convince me that 37.2 trillion dead and rotting eucaryotic cells magically came back to life in the Levant some two thousand years ago. I suggest in future that you read what is written more carefully if you want to avoid your comments being " very dumb".
Our nation has been waiting for "the adults in the room," but they never notice the hard-working Christians who ARE putting Christ's words into practice in loving their neighbors. It is only our number that lacks. We need MORE Christians to mature in the faith, get off the "milk" and onto the "meat". (1 Cor 3:2; Heb 5:12) Don't just warm a pew, roll up your sleeves and help your brethren serve those in need! That is an ESSENTIAL part of our being in Christ, "who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, ZEALOUS FOR GOOD DEEDS." (Titus 2:14) If all Christians do this, there WILL be enough adults in the room to save America from collapse!
I love you, Jeremiah--please keep studying. The 7th day Sabbath was ordained by God long before the existence of the Jews, and early Christians kept the 7th day sabbath sacred. It was changed to Sunday by a prominent entity. Is man greater than God? This requires a massive study, but its importance comes into play in end times.
Personally, I think the gospel of John is one of the best apologetic works available to us. The book is filled with testimonies of people proclaiming that Jesus is the Christ. If John had been lying, He could have been sniffed out

Why does Jeremiah Johnston keep on mentioning that he studied at Oxford and got his Ph.D. while at Oxford when he really didn't get his degree from Oxford University? He is being deceptive of his credentials.
I’d love to hear what children’s ministry curriculum he uses at his church! Ours uses Answers in Genesis but the new children’s director is changing it 😕 I’m really conflicted that he doesn’t realize what our generation of kids is facing.
Just curious, What curriculum are they changing to and was a reason given by the Pastor to the congregation families?? Was he involved in the curriculum decision, or was that left to the children's ministry director? Were parents involved in discussions? The only reason I ask is: it seems fewer and fewer Pastors are involved in the "ancillary" ministries of their church, nor parents, and I believe it's one way "woke agenda" often creeps into the church (via worship music, sunday school/youth groups, etc).
Just because the Gospels contain stories of Jesus predicting his death and resurrection, does not mean Jesus actually rose from the dead. . Much more likely the authors were biased theologians exaggerating their new faith and making some money. Acts 5 and 1 Corinthians 9.

41:43 _"if Jesus hadn't said Lazarus' name, everyone would have rose from the dead"_ (rose for risen?) It was the _singular_ imperative, right? But excellent point that Jesus as miracle worker made sure to speak to whatever should be different. Now apply that to Joshua 10, I am not saying verse 13, I am saying verse 12.
The women were with Jesus very early in his earthly ministry and thus not only heard his alleged resurrection predictions, but also witnessed many of his alleged miracles...and yet they still go to the tomb on the third day expecting Jesus to be dead. I guess those prior miracles and resurrection predictions were not very convincing.
The only witness is Paul and he saw in in a revelation, the gospels were written by unknown authors and decades after the event. There is no evidence of Jesus resurrection accept a dream.
All of your “evidence” of the resurrection relies on the assumption that the gospels are accurate. But the question is how you know that the gospels are true.
If Christians knew how to interpret scripture in the way it would have been interpreted at the time it was written. When talking to others have sweet Jesus and sugar water does not convince anyone and teaches nobody.
Trying to understand, why does he and many others believe the Sabbath day of Rest has changed? God blessed the 7th day and made the 7th day a Holy day. I heard him say this is why we worship on Sunday since Jesus rose on Sunday, he did raise on Sunday. But like he said, he worships on Sunday not Saturday like the Jews did… Jesus was a Jew, he was in the temple every Sabbath, Saturdays. So did this change in the Bible or after the Bible was written? To my understanding, it was after the Bible was written and a decision made by a man, not God. This is the one thing I tend to struggle with is finding great podcasts and channels like this but this one thing is bothersome because I hear over and over is this Biblical…? But on this very crucial commandment, I see people have changed… I’m not a Seventh Day Adventist. I am a Christian and that is all I identify as. I keep the Sabbath as the Bible tells me to, so I attend church on Sabbath, Saturdays. And also keep it Holy and find rest in it. So this is a topic I’d like her her to touch on. Is changing the Sabbath day, Biblical?
Catechize. Catholics teach their children their doctrine by memorizing answers to questions. They call this "catechism." He means we need to teach our children doctrine: what we believe.
@@AbbaJoy1 Lutherans also use Catechism to teach our older children, 7th and 8th grade, before they are confirmed in the Lutheran faith. There is Luther’s Small and Large Catechism. It takes piece by piece in a question and answer format backed by Scripture the Ten Commandments, the Creeds, the Lord’s Prayer, Communion, Baptism and the Office of the Keys and Confession. I think for Lutherans, at least the conservative synods, it is a very good intellectual practice so you know why you are professing that faith.
Doesn’t matter. It’s about the man’s leadership, courage and teaching than miracles that may or may not have happened. Obviously he was just born out of wedlock, for example.
The Birth of Jesus Christ Matthew 1:18-25 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). 24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25 but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
"Question. -- What is the meaning of Christ's resurrection after three days? Answer. -- The resurrections of the Divine Manifestations are not of the body. All Their states, Their conditions, Their acts, the things They have established, Their teachings, Their expressions, Their parables and Their instructions have a spiritual and divine signification, and have no connection with material things. For example, there is the subject of Christ's coming from heaven: it is clearly stated in many places in the Gospel that the Son of man came from heaven, He is in heaven, and He will go to heaven. So in chapter 6, verse 38, of the Gospel of John it is written: "For I came down from heaven"; and also in verse 42 we find: "And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?" Also in John, chapter 3, verse 13: "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." Observe that it is said, "The Son of man is in heaven," while at that time Christ was on earth. Notice also that it is said that Christ came from heaven, though He came from the womb of Mary, and His body was born of Mary. It is clear, then, that when it is said that the Son of man is come from heaven, this has not an outward but an inward signification; it is a spiritual, not a material, fact. The meaning is that though, apparently, Christ was born from the womb of Mary, in reality He came from heaven, from the center of the Sun of Reality, from the Divine World, and the Spiritual Kingdom. And as it has become evident that Christ came from the spiritual heaven of the Divine Kingdom, therefore, His disappearance under the earth for three days has an inner signification and is not an outward fact. In the same way, His resurrection from the interior of the earth is also symbolical; it is a spiritual and divine fact, and not material; and likewise His ascension to heaven is a spiritual and not material ascension. Beside these explanations, it has been established and proved by science that the visible heaven is a limitless area, void and empty, where innumerable stars and planets revolve. Therefore, we say that the meaning of Christ's resurrection is as follows: the disciples were troubled and agitated after the martyrdom of Christ. The Reality of Christ, which signifies His teachings, His bounties, His perfections and His spiritual power, was hidden and concealed for two or three days after His martyrdom, and was not resplendent and manifest. No, rather it was lost, for the believers were few in number and were troubled and agitated. The Cause of Christ was like a lifeless body; and when after three days the disciples became assured and steadfast, and began to serve the Cause of Christ, and resolved to spread the divine teachings, putting His counsels into practice, and arising to serve Him, the Reality of Christ became resplendent and His bounty appeared; His religion found life; His teachings and His admonitions became evident and visible. In other words, the Cause of Christ was like a lifeless body until the life and the bounty of the Holy Spirit surrounded it. Such is the meaning of the resurrection of Christ, and this was a true resurrection. But as the clergy have neither understood the meaning of the Gospels nor comprehended the symbols, therefore, it has been said that religion is in contradiction to science, and science in opposition to religion, as, for example, this subject of the ascension of Christ with an elemental body to the visible heaven is contrary to the science of mathematics. But when the truth of this subject becomes clear, and the symbol is explained, science in no way contradicts it; but, on the contrary, science and the intelligence affirm it. 24" ‘Abdu’l-Bahá Some Answered Questions (p.104)
I love this episode and of course I know Jesus was God and rose from the dead but just to play the devil's advocate (pun intended) if I'm an atheist or even as a believer, I didn't technically hear or see "PROOF" of His resurrection. I know all of those scriptures and I know they're true but one still has to ultimately put their faith in Christ's resurrection. We don't have irrefutable, scientific proof of the resurrection. Just saying... We have a great deal of evidence that points to that and it's certainly enough for me but..

Wait...is the evidence he's citing for the resurrection nothing more than quotes from the bible itself? Because the bible also mentions talking snakes and 960 year-old men.
Here’s the problem that no Christian can be honest about. With all the talk with all the theatrics with all the claims. You have over 20 billion people that I’ve ever lived on the planet, and the Christian claim is only one person out of that number ever rose from the dead, and it just happens to be the person who is the figure for the religion we believe in. Forget the fact that they were many Egyptian Mesopotamian and many other God to make the same claims exactly the same Dionysus I’m in the list goes on and on.. even Julius Caesar. And those beliefs were based on claims and stories that were passed on exactly the same as Christianity literally zero difference, but somehow this is the story that is true of all those now the others are just this one. The evidence is the testimony of people that lived over 2000 years ago, written testimony, decades, or more after it happened. You got to be desperate for something to be true highly disingenuous to say that they should not be questioned much more than it is.

You dismissed your daughter when she asked (after saying you talk about Christianity all day, every day), and you did not even bring the topic back up. But yet you try to explain it away that Christian's don't know everything...it's a very simple story, and somebody who claims to be a "doctor" in the subject should have absolutely no problem in explaining it. Your 5 year old daughter tried to be a "Christian thinker" and "ask questions" and have a "healthy dialogue" and "not shy away from the truth", but then you sent her to bed?
"Teaching Christians to be thinkers?" That's an oxymoron if I've ever heard one. Fundamentalist Christianity is the antithesis of one single original thought coming from the mind of a true believer.
The reason Christ was explaining way these certain people didn't have enough faith to experience the called Christ tried to make happen so your versions of outside christ was a pattern in you not one person outside of man is dust and Paul called his outside efforts called Saul was DUNG so all your looking outside even galaxies is a dust and dung. It is not what you think ONE person was christ its actually ONE in you your MIND same ONE Christ Jesus SAME ONE that plays ALL I AM, Paul HINTED Philip 2:5Let this MIND be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: NO ONE LOST.
He had interesting things to offer. But to convince some people, who are nonbelievers, you cannot proof things with a book, they don´t believe in. They can easiely claim, that it is a conspirithy. In my eyes, the really compelling proof is in the Shroud of Turin. It exists, compares to the crucifiction and to the resurrection, is the only tissue in this way on the whole earth, has many astonashing mysterys in it. It is hard for atheists, to get over it with science.
As an atheist I can say that the shroud of Turin is totally unconvincing. There is no unbroken chain of custody back to the body of the Jesus character. There is no carbon dating that places the shroud in the early first century. Perhaps most importantly of all there is no DNA evidence consistent with an immaculately conceived human male. In the absence of this evidence there is no good reason to believe that the shroud is anything other than a very clever medieval fake.

(1 Cor 3:2; Heb 5:12)
Don't just warm a pew, roll up your sleeves and help your brethren serve those in need!
That is an ESSENTIAL part of our being in Christ, "who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, ZEALOUS FOR GOOD DEEDS."
(Titus 2:14)
If all Christians do this, there WILL be enough adults in the room to save America from collapse!

I love you, Jeremiah--please keep studying. The 7th day Sabbath was ordained by God long before the existence of the Jews, and early Christians kept the 7th day sabbath sacred. It was changed to Sunday by a prominent entity. Is man greater than God? This requires a massive study, but its importance comes into play in end times.

this was beautiful. thank you for this.
Personally, I think the gospel of John is one of the best apologetic works available to us. The book is filled with testimonies of people proclaiming that Jesus is the Christ. If John had been lying, He could have been sniffed out
He wrote it in 90 CE when all the people around Jesus were conveniently DEAD since the average life span was 30-35.
LOL
Life span was always 70 -80. Children in the past would die due to many reasons diseases mostly. The average 30 - 35 takes into account the children age when they died. Once children past into the 20s a normal person would live into their 70s.

- 1. Jesus called it. Compare the prophecy of Hosea 6:2-3 to his own life Mark 8:31-34 and John 2:19
- 2. Jesus refers to himself as Son of Man. Which is a reference to the prophecy of Daniel 7
- 3. Jesus demonstrated resurrection. He showed his power over death by raising up Jairus daughter from the dead (Luke 8), the widow's son in Nain (Luke 7), and Lazarus (John 11)
- 4. None of Jesus's disciples expected the Messiah to die by Roman crucifixion, let alone rise from the dead. They were all looking for a conquering Messiah. (Mathew 16) There was no motivation to make up a resurrection narrative

It's the verb form of catechism, which is a systematic theology that uses questions and answers to teach theology.
Doesn’t matter. It’s about the man’s leadership, courage and teaching than miracles that may or may not have happened. Obviously he was just born out of wedlock, for example.
The Birth of Jesus Christ
Matthew 1:18-25
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”
(which means, God with us).
How is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?" Also in John, chapter 3, verse 13: "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven."
Observe that it is said, "The Son of man is in heaven," while at that time Christ was on earth.

Do you have any physical evidence of the alleged resurrection of a physical JC?
Makes no sense that because Jesus resurrected on Sunday, you worship on Sunday... like what???
Ah man so close
I love this episode and of course I know Jesus was God and rose from the dead but just to play the devil's advocate (pun intended) if I'm an atheist or even as a believer, I didn't technically hear or see "PROOF" of His resurrection. I know all of those scriptures and I know they're true but one still has to ultimately put their faith in Christ's resurrection. We don't have irrefutable, scientific proof of the resurrection. Just saying...
We have a great deal of evidence that points to that and it's certainly enough for me but..
But what? … 😕
@@e.t.h.559 I was just referring to what I had previously stated. If I'm an atheist watching this, I didn't technically hear or see irrefutable proof of the resurrection.
I am not an atheist and I do believe Jesus was a Manifestation of God, but I do not believe he was resurrected from the dead. I don’t take the concept literally. You’re right that this video mentioned nothing to convince me otherwise.
@@MissRegionRat I'm not sure how you could even arrive at such a conclusion about Jesus Christ lol
However, I do encourage you to continue your search for the truth about Him. And I'm absolutely, positively certain that if you speak to Him as you would speak to anyone else and ask Him to make it clearer to you and even plead if you feel the need, dig in and continue studying and listening to discussions on the matter and he will absolutely reveal it to you. He actually promised it.
@@MissRegionRat do you think Jesus was lying when he said he would raise from the dead after the third day? Or that the disciples were lying when they wrote about him raising others from the dead? And if he could actually raise others from the dead then why couldn't he raise himself? And if he can't raise himself from the dead then he's not God which would also mean he was a liar and so were the disciples.
Wait...is the evidence he's citing for the resurrection nothing more than quotes from the bible itself? Because the bible also mentions talking snakes and 960 year-old men.

Well according to the complete lack of evidence provided. The answer is the resurrection never happened.
Read the Book of Enoch and Babylonian Codes and your religion will fall like the House of Cards it is
Here’s the problem that no Christian can be honest about.

Those false religions didn't have an Israelite people reenacting the Messiah's sacrifice for centuries until he came. (Leviticus 1:3-9)
Dr. Jeremiah Johnston, please, explain the story of Job.
Jesus said that He is the resurrection and the life, so why question it. It happened, is real and is over. Next topic.
Just because a book says it's so, doesn't defacto make it so. It didn't happen, it isn't real and it's over. Next topic.
😂😂😂😂
