I'm using wool, but I think cotton would work fine as well. The technique is a good match with short fibers. As you say, it all starts with the preparation of the fiber. The English longdraw requires very well prepared carded rolags. I usually use my hand combs for teasing and then card.
Although I've spun long draw before, I've never broken down the steps like this before. Can't wait to make a more consistent yarn. Thankyou Josefin.

It is once you learn it. But it takes practice in both spinning and carding technique.
