- Turok is an adaptation of the Acclaim Comics comic book series of the same name. The player controls Turok, a Native American warrior, who must stop the evil Campaigner from conquering the universe with an ancient and powerful weapon.
All gameplay was captured on the PC via the game bar, which is a sub par video recording program but considering I played through the entire game on my work computer which I had to create a work around to make work in the first place, I'll take what I can get. I work at a hotel and during the winter it is dead so that gives me time to record games not only while I'm at home, but while I'm at work getting paid. Yeaaaaaaah boiiiiii. lol. With that being said, you may notice I pause every couple of minutes through random parts of the game and that is for two reasons. The first, I am at work and am continually interrupted by my guests needing this or that ect ect. Two, this game has issues on Windows 10 that causes strange sputtering problems that cause the FPS to drop to about 3 anywhere between five to ten seconds. I tried to cut that out as much as I could, but I know I missed a few instances. Thankfully they don't last long and shouldn't be too detrimental to the viewing experience. I have already recorded some of Turok 2 and can say that game is far more stable than this one, so that shouldn't be an issue outside of this game. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

The simplicity made them more fun.
I could play the original Doom endlessly and still enjoy it and this game is the same.
These days they try to fluff up play time with so much bloat and you have no desire to just master levels.
Not to mention they want easy baby levels they don't even want normal or hard

Probably the most macho game ever made, not a single woman in this game 😂 freaking native american with heavy canons, knifes and bows with EXPLODING ARROWS killing Aliens and Dinosaurs for whatever reason. You're a master at this game bro, i remember needing a guide for this game and some of the jumps were straight up unfair lol.

The most impressive thing is that you did this without the map, lol. Not that it's the best map ever, but some of those jumps without some reference would drive me nuts.

Oh yeah, Turok is the bomb. The series kind of wavers between amazing and "alright", but in the end it's still a great series for the most part.
I loved it when I was a kid. I was always a big dinosaur fan. I suppose these days I have Ark and JWE, but this was my very first 3d dino game. I think I liked Turok 2 a little better, though.
There is something about this game that makes it so cool. Like mysterious or something. Turok 2 was a far more polished and superior game, but this game has a weird mystique about it thats hard to explain.
I know exactly what you mean. Maybe it's because we don't know who Turok really is. Why he is even there. What are the lost lands? All of it goes unanswered and yet there you are, shooting at aliens and dinosaurs in the jungle for some reason. 😂
@Zee-Core-Gaming There is something very mysterious about the atmosphere in the game too. But you are right, we are told nothing and so our imagination has to make the rest up, I find there is something akin to Neverland about The Lost Land. A place where everything exists but nothing exists when, where, or how it should. Turok is like a heavily armed Peter Pan in a much more dangerous Neverland.
I never played Turok back in the day, but I'm glad I do now...and I'm ESPECIALLY glad this video exists because I might need a guide at some point. 😅

I don't unverstand why they didn't remove the fog. They only used the fog to improve performance back then.
There is the option to increase the fog distance but I agree, should have let use remove it entirely.

Great video, I have passed this game a little over 5 times before on various difficulty levels, this is how I break it down.
The most confusing levels: level 5 its a huge maze and the backtracking is like a taste of what you see later in Turok 2. Level 8 will be the second most confusing due to the labyrinth like structure, and tough enemies around almost every corner.
The levels with the hardest platforming sections: levels 3,4, 7 and 8.
Levels with most fog: levels 1,2,3, and 6.

I bought this and the remaster for Turok 2 three separate times, once on Steam, then on Switch, and last time on PS4. And now they’re gonna release a remaster for Turok 3 this year I think. I’m excited for it. Also hilariously after playing both remasters for Turok and Turok 2 on Steam, I tried to go back to the original releases on N64. For this game it wasn’t too different in terms of pacing and stuff, but I was only able to play the original version of Turok 2 for around 5 minutes or so before saying F it, I’m going back to the remaster.
Nightdive did an amazing job updating the games while maintaining the original feel. I am pumped about Turok 3 because I NEVER thought that would happen.

oh god missing all of those jumps towards the end of the game was the bane of my existence.
Definitely takes some getting used to. Plus the ones towards the end game are like 8 by 8 inch squares so that doesn't help. 😂

Nice gameplay, and i like how you're playing it oldskool. You haven't used any of the new features like extended view distance, crosshair, or higher FOV. These all make Turok way easier.

Not sure which Turok it was but I remember falling off a cliff and landing on a tower and getting a piece of a special weapon. I died before saving it and never found that spot again.
Probably this one, or Turok 2. MAYBE Turok 3.

Either I really sucked at aiming as a kid or they buffed the hell out of the chrono scepter, I don't remember it dealing that much damage to the Campaigner, if I was lucky he was missing 1/3d of his health after three direct hits. Either way glad to see this playthrough, definitely a game of the childhood and one I've been meaning to play again!
Maybe both? 😂 This is the remaster so I'm sure there are some gameplay tweaks they made in the process.
Remaster is on pc isnt it. The original used a joy stick or buttons to look around

I remember playing this game at 3 in the morning at my grandpa's once and get always got up to make popcorn in the middle of the night. One night he came into the living room and watched me playing with the cheat codes on destroying everything and he was fucking flabbergasted since he had never seen games like that before. 😂 He sat out there for like 45 minutes watching like it was the wildest shit he had ever seen.
@Zee-Core-Gaming ah good memory there. I remember thinking wow these graphics(specifically the death animation and blood" was so realistic and there's no possible way it could get closer to reality. I used to get scared at going around some of the corners not knowing what enemies were waiting for me. But my atomic bomb gun(the red and blue one) always had my back lmao

There is an autoshotty in the first level but I usually skip it so I have an excuse to use the classic shotgun for awhile

I had no idea where to get the third key on the third level. I hadn't realized the game would give it to you after fighting the boss :\ Still a great game though, I've always loved it. Great playthrough, you're quite good at it. 😀
I plan on putting my skills to the test and uploading this again except with mods that basically turn what is already a heart pounding race into a cocaine induced thrill ride. 😅
Basically a shit ton more enemies and much harder boss fights.

@@jamesflor4604 This is the remastered version from Steam. No emulator. The freezing was from the shit computer I was recording on when I was working over nights at a hotel. 😂

How is it remastered though? This looks a lot like then N64 emulated version I've been playing. Granted it's smoother, but I'm an emulator. I know the actually N64 was smooth, I still remember it.
Also... When did they remaster this? It was my favorite N64 game, except maybe Turok 2.
Nightdive does great remasters, they preserve what originally made the game great and improved small things like texture detail and lighting. You'll also notice the map layout in the first level is altered towards the beginning. No idea why this change was made. But you'll notice other small changes like further draw distance (less fog), altered enemy AI behavior, a new difficulty mode and so on.

A quick question how are the controls. I remember trying to play the second turok on an emulator on PC but your aim always moves like with the N64 controller back to the center. Is aiming in the remastered version like in other ego-shooters? Meaning that the mouse stays where you put it without some force trying to pull it to the center?
The controls have definitely been updated. The look spring option can be turned off in the OG Turok games as well, but even when you did it felt off. This remaster and the remaster of Turok 2 feel buttery smooth.
@@Zee-Core-Gaming Interesting I didn't know that you can turn that annoying aim jumping to the center off. So does that mean that aiming is now "similar" to normal ego shooter games on pc?

is there any way to tone down the blue flashes when an item is picked up? and is turok moving faster than he does in the 64 version?
I don't believe there is any way to remove the flashes unfortunately. And yes he definitely seems to be moving quicker.
@@Zee-Core-Gaming is there a way to turn down the frame rate in this game i think his movement speed is tied to the framerate. also, i just saw that adjusting the hud opacity can remove or maybe lessen those flashes.
@@incudust953 I'm not sure if you can change the FPS in the game, but if you are playing on PC you can probably limit the FPS in the graphics control center. Which on most computers you can find by right clicking on the desktop and it should be there in the drop down options.

Each level has one or more save locations. But they are few and far between.

I HATED all the gd jumping they made Turok do! It got SO repetitive and SO annoying it wasn't even worth finishing, it became that boring. Legend of Zelda was better for the N64.
I think they were trying to mimic some platforming games as they were still popular at the time. But yeah, falling to your death could get annoying. And Legend of Zelda was pretty much better than everything for the N64.

Hitboxes back then were like a big giant cube, not like today when you can miss by shooting through someone's armpit.. All you had to do was aim in their direction.
@@IKnowHowItEnds Most definitely. Hitboxes have changed dramatically. But I still wouldn't say this constitutes as an aimbot.
You can scroll through the video and find plenty of instances of me missing shots, which just wouldn't happen with an aimbot.
But I do agree though that hitting targets was definitely easier in older games.
