For this speedrun I used patch 1.4 which makes certain speed tech from earlier patches not possible. There is a later patch (1.5) that allows you to skip cutscenes so this particular run is suboptimal in terms of the time but it was a strong run for 2017.
[note] My game suffered a bad pause in the Hive at 32:29. I don't know what caused it but i've had similar things happen before with this game. I was prepared to stop recording if it didn't manage to recover. Later on at around 36:45 the video suffers a similar pause but this was only evident during playback because I was still playing that part during the run. - Ігри
When people talk about the water temple being complicated, I think back to the Caves level in Turok 2 and laugh then cry.
I give you a like from many years ago involving every reference from your sentence. I bow down to you sir
i said in one turok 2 video that the lair of the blind ones is the water temple version of turok 2 lol
Hive of mantids is harder
@@hairlessmonkey86 hive does get easier if you pick up on the color coding of the regions but I agree both suck ass lol
Omg the lair of the blind ones was hell to figure out. Not to mention the Matids level.
Child: Thank you Tu.... oh he's already gone.
I died laughing when I heard that, glad I'm not the only one who noticed 😂
this game was so fucking hard back in the days.
It still is lol.
One of the greatest games of all time...
I forgot how fucking long each level was.
ive never beat this game... its THE game when it comes to. ''where the fuck am i suppose to go???!!!''
Hats off to this person speed running this game. Some of the most labrythian level design in any video game. Must of taken some serious dedication to remember where to go in all of them.
I couldn't even pass the first level as a kid
@@jackvillarruel532 the first level was already hard and confusing af. Imo still one of the hardest games ever
lair of the blind ones can fuck right off
This video taught me that I really suck at Turok 2.
Hey. I am playing this game since 2003 and never did it up to that ladder in port of adia to start the game xD
Obv
Imagine working hard capturing people and creating a bunch of energy power types systems and master computers just to have turok show up, jump everywhere and destroy everything within minutes 😂
"Thank you, Turok!"
I literally shed a tear of nostalgia when I heard that again in this video
Thanks for not talking.
This is great. An amazing speed run for one of the best games with the most confusing level design. On a less serious note: TIL a speed run of turok just means not getting lost.
Bruh this is what would happen if Doomguy played as Turok
Turok 2: SPEED of evil.
Amazing gameplay. I would spend weeks on one stage as a kid in the 90s.
23:00 This trick would have saved me so much trouble...
Only if you had the Shredder in Level 2 which most people didn’t.
Very nicely done! Thank you for the upload! I loved this game as a kid, so cool to see you breeze through it!
Love this game, got it on the N64, still playing the game now and then.
4:56 badass sequence
"child rescued" *monster explodes* 😎
Adon: “Turok, the Primagen threatens the Lost Land!”
Joshua: “Hold my Light Burden...”
I can't thank you enough !!
You made me take the I AM TUROK achievement that was impossible for me to take
You made it so simple and i highly recommend this video
tyvm :) Glad you were able to get this achievement !
Turok loudly screaming underwater is the best
Lmao
The levels in this game are very intricate it seems so it must have taken a lot! of time to do this. Hats off to you Behemoth!
This is a truly epic game, so glad that even after all these years later it gets remakes! I bought this game for the N64 the week it was released and I still own it to this day.
Turok: Grade A badass who saved the world all while wearing Uggs.
Rescue 4 children. NO MORE!
Only 4 children in that village
That soul gate shredder trick is brilliant
First major mindblow of the run was watching that first soul gate get one-shot.
*Thank you Turawk*
I could never beat a single level of this game as a kid lol you're incredibly good! thanks for uploading
Same here :D
I was 10
The farthest i ever made it was the death marshes and i had my dad help me lol
@@selmocohadarevic6812 which level is this?
Played it in German and don't know the English names
(but I guess it's 3?)
I got to The Hive of the Mantids, and I could never figure out how to open one of the doors blocked by force fields. I even bought a walkthrough magazine to see if there was a trick I hadn't figured out, but I still couldn't get past that door. I spent weeks running around that level trying to figure that out.
@@supercunthunt7756 yes its level 3! I picked up the remaster a few months ago and now ive gotten to the hive of the mantids, its a bit confusing. But its still fun just like it was when i was a kid!!!
I enjoy watching this speedrun so much :)
Nonchalantly floats in the air while a Dino is getting his brains drilled out. I love this game!
I think Turok 2 is the best one. I grew up with this game and it was the first game I got on my N64. It's nice to see a remaster of it. XD
lol did you beat the game then?^^
"Thank you Turok"
Thanks Spiderman
Bewareofoblivionisathand
Cant believe still remember the cheat code for this game
It's bewareoblivionisathand
Great run bro
You are a legend dude! Nice job
There's a reason most people give up after the Death Marshes - Lair of the Blind Ones and Hive of the Mantids are just bad design - everywhere looks more or less identical. Navigating around them was an experience in tedium.
Just bought this on the the Xbox One. Never played it before. Only two levels in but this run looks insane. And thats from a fellow speedrunner of other games in the past. Great vid!
Neuromancer it's a good game
Definitely one of the sickest FPS games.
This speedrun made me realize that with the Quick Warp, *the mission objectives become completely irrelevant.*
Lmao, after beating this game so many times, I now, too, realized that.
Prisoner:Hey over here!
Turok:
Man I used to love making the enemies fight each other. Was so hilarious to me as a child lol and I dont think any game had that unique mechanic
How do you make em fight eachother?
@@K4inan You'd just have to lure enemies into another enemy's crossfire. It was easy to do with ranged enemies but still possible with melee enemies. Then they'll aggro onto another enemy and they'll start fighting each other.
@@takamichinoku4167 I have that achievement but it wasn't intentional lol
The old DOOM games had infighting. You're right in that a lot of games don't have it though. Not nearly enough.
@@livingcorpse5664 Yea any game around those times in the 90s that had such a mechanic were so ahead of it's time.
Next challenge: do the same on N64
Anyway - respect, I watched till the end because of the sentimental value this game has to me hehe
I'm on lair of the blind ones rn.... Man you make this game look easy
Bringing back some memories here.
need help!!. have this game and i love it but the animation is too fast i fixed my FOV but the enemy keeps moving to fast and cut scenes have to skip to keep up with the faster movement. HELP!!
All 69 dislikes were from dinos in the game
It's crazy that a SPEEDRUN of the first level takes 10min lol
Awesome video ty my dude
walking off center and slightly sideways through this has me jilted
I couldn’t t even get to the end of lvl 1 in 2 hours on the n64 but you manage to beat the game in an hour and a half
I still own that back cartridge.
This game was very often delayed, i waited over almost two years for Turok 2. Man, i was so hyped and when it was finally out it feels almost like playing the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-Game from GSC. I was surprised that Turok 2 is not more only collecting Keys, this time we got Quests to solve in the Levels and i was frustrated in my first playthrough in 1998.
The 6th Stage is insane. I dind´t play it in the past on N64. Only until Mantis Stage.
"F L E S H L I G H T"
Yeah I heard that too. That's not a dirty mind, either limitations of the time caused it like the infamous "so long Gay Bowser" or she mispronounced it.
NOSTALGIC
why do the walls look like they are all leaning forward? Is the fov messed up?
Great skills, music, graphics and level design, it makes it very enjoyable to watch 🔥
Didnt even use FOV 170 frooty stripes Gouard mode
That's a real speedrun
That jumps almost give me a heart attack
I like that they remastered all the visuals and raised the framerate to a consistent 60 fps, and they managed to make a version of turok 2 that 1999 computers wouldnt dream of running, and on top of that, all the sound effects are the same and the enemies still look very similar to how they did in the original. I really like that they did that. Also it seems that there is no longer any fog like in the n64 version which is the only way I ever had a chance to play this game. I'm happy with this remaster.
Btw great job on port of adia, I remember that taking me like an hour and a half and you did it in less than 20
@Jyde K te render distance was limited cause of the n64 at the time everything far was foggy. Now they extended the distance so you can see a lot farther.
Thank you turok 🦖
His timing on river of souls is so fukin clutch
Is it a 1:12 river though?
These loading times.... How? I have a Raid SSD and a powerfull Setup! How do you manage to load this fast?
I have a shitty laptop and loadtimes dont exist for me either, try reinstalling everything
Other than a few times where corners could be cut a teendy bit better, a skip in the port of adia to bypass a lever, and a few points of getting stuck on enemies this is overall a great speedrun, especialy looking at the GDQ Speedrun of 1:14:whatver on Easy vs this of 1:15 whatever on Hardcore, still a really great run, nice work!
Who would have ever guessed that a Turok 2 level could be beaten in just a few minutes.
at 8 yrs i needed 2 years for level 1 lol
He doesn't fulfill all of the levels mission objectives. Just gets all the necessities to get straight to the primagen keys on any given level to 'technically' finish the game
I don't remember climbing ledges... I recall having to land with full length of your legs when jumping up a ledge. Must be a mechanic of the Remastered part?
Yep, new mechanic
Great time!
I thought that thumbnail was "World of Warcraft" at first lol
I've recently completed hardcore and seeing a speedrun of this on hardcore was so satisfying good job brother , you probably know this by now since you uploaded this vid 4 years ago but the switch in the village in level 1 the one you have to go inside the building before the bridge i think , might be wrong but you went inside to activate it , it can be activated OUTSIDE through the wall, i don,t know it might be faster to go inside , it is the switch that gives you the ladder, to go up, i just wanted to tell you might help you out if you are still speedrunning this, also maybe not on hardcore but a well placed explosive shredder shell one shots the primagen's antenna , so again GG bro that was sick.
oh shit, this is really speeeeeeeeeeeeeed run!
When is your next video? :D Keep it up!
do you have the option to manually set your field of view? i remember in the original pc version from '98 you could press '^' and enter set fov=90 in order to make the game look better
Yes it's one of the options in the remaster
The PC version came out in '99 btw.
Great run. But I personally couldn't play the game with the FOV cranked up like that.
The Primagen was right to fear Turok
good speed run but i would like you to do one of armorines N64?
¡Yes!¡You are turok!
omg the sound has been improved this drive me mad
damn you know that game very well.. nice bro
Best soundtrack ever!
Awsome liked this one
Is it normal that you notice such a difference between hard and hardcore mode? Now I normally go with 8 or 9 lives, the enemies take little from me and I get the feeling that I killed them before. I'm trying to see that I have not made a mistake choosing the difficulty ... But in this game you cannot see what difficulty you have chosen.
For me, the difficulty lies within certain level layouts themselves and not the difficulty of the enemies. Even playing on normal, i find myself strafe-sprinting past reset enemies I've already fought simply because I'm warping in and out of certain sections trying to find a key or switch that I've missed. 9 year old me would have never been able to complete some of the bullshit in this game on a n64 controller, and even 30 year old me gets frustrated at trying to find the one objective I missed even with the added map. Enemies though? Piece of cake with mouse and keyboard.
Seeing you jump in places i didnt know you can do :'O im like whhhatttt how tf did you not fall and how can you jump so up far..
I don't even speedrun, Started playing this game again for nostalgic purposes and wanted to be immersed again. Ended up me sprinting to the side all the time for speed and doing maps fast (still unlocked all secret areas) and finished the game in like 4 hours LUL
those little mantids are not pleasant in headphones 3: great run / congrats on wr mate
good game, but never passed the first level
I can feel this.😂
Me too. I could never save cause I didn't have the rumble pack I think? Would always have to restart the game...
@@MrRepoman197 You mean Controller Pack.
@@resi4fan4ever yeah that. I forgot what it was called.
I feel like thats one of the only games where we can say good game but didnt pass the first level, like the game is just freaking amazing but at the same time it's not necessarily what we anticipated. The levels look too much alike but the sounds and the atmosphere is unrivaled.
5-20% of my days turok2 is my favourite game
I've heard that the levels in the remaster were slightly modified to be less confusing, personally i can't tell the difference BUT and this is a big but, i don't get as lost as I once did as a kid. Or maybe i was just a kid who could not play the game. What do you think Behemoth, is the game's layout more friendly to a modern audience?
Yes most levels had slight alterations to level design, to make parts less confusing. Most notably in the Lair of the Blind ones a part was added to make a section near the end not so complicated. I think the improved movement like just how fast you run, and framerate etc can also contribute to make it an easier experience and being able to navigate/remember where you're going.
I noticed there is not fog too?
This speedrun seriously isn't getting enough attention 😮
Great, but can you do this in black mode and only with bow and arrows like the first world record?
the only thing that mad me not like turok 2 as much as i could, is the fact that there is no indicator on where you are supposed to go !
also there is a little bit of back tracking!!
that took some of the fun away.. but after a x ammount of hours, i finally beat it :P i must add that it was on n64 XD
Yea that was the point XD Man today games are so straight forward, holding your hands where only gameplay and action is of importance. The level design and difficulty is mind blowing for it's time. You mist have missed the point of the levels themselves being the puzzle you have to solve, not some room with pieces and that's all, like skyrim.
@@critical6798 there are some games today that does things right. But it is far between.
press F for pay respect
Dude wtf
Why is it not possible to TAS this game?
Sick! Awesome! Fantastic! Subbed! Lol
Thank you :)
That’s bad ass 👀
Wait a minute, is the primagens ship literally always connected to the hub? What the hell kinda setup is that. Makes no sense for either of them!
I think the hub IS the prison. The ship is separated.
4:57 lol
I don't remember there ever being a quick moving seaglide underwater, is that new? lol
as far I remember, that was always a feature.
It was. It was in the original game as well.
Respect +
Huh. Is there something to increase movement speed, or is that just a result of the FOV? Cause this looks fast as heck...
PC remaster runs this fast, FOV probably adds to the effect.
I don't know but is he slower on xbox one? There's a lot of people surprised by stuff when they watch this.
Yeah, I decided to just test it, and FOV really adds a lot of this feeling of speed. My bad!
this fov you used is the original? or did you changed it? because i see too much distortion / fisheye effect, the speed looks faster but it distort too much the image for me, i prefer a near fov than this, it is changeable in-game?
yes the remaster has the option to change Fov. I understand what you say but the effect for me makes it slightly easier to speedrun the game, move in tighter lines and see what's around me better.
He’s also running diagonally to go faster forward and strafe make you walk diagonally
I never noticed that his shotgun is both pump-action and double-barreled... How does THAT work? XD
Basically a pump action shotgun with two barrels like the DP-12, except it shoots both barrels at once.
Also each barrel has an ejector
it's odd watching this without the slow downs :v
