HAHAHA IGOR ! I remember going to our community and they were the first to ask me to do a job in a grocery shop !The fact with networking is you need to network with people with the right connections who are in senior positions and in the industry in the Canadian market. These immigraiton centers/ women centers are good for first time movers to help them and welcome them, but I think there is more to it. I was able to contact a Managing Director/ the decision maker of a factory through Linkedin who invited me for an interview. So you see it's more about reaching the right people.

Not everyone but Natives immigrated to Canada. Many of our families were here well before Canada was a country. How do you immigrate to a country that does not exist? Welcome to Canada I hope you are here to work hard and leave the world better than when you arrived.

This is what you do- If you see a job posting, apply online, and ALSO go to the place hiring and ask to speak to HR or a manager in charge of hiring and you physically give them a resume. This is what most Canadians do.
If you have a very high demand job applying online may work- BUT if its your first job, this is likely not the case.... You should do the method above. Also, most places want you to already live in the city. Again, unless you are in a very high demand job like a nurse. There is a lot of competition depending on the province you live in. Please dont come to Canada to work in low paying jobs that Canadians do not want to work. Trust me, its not easy to get by on that much money. U will HAVE to get education or work in construction. I would highly recommend that you go after high paying jobs like construction, nursing, doctors... it is true, if you are a women and have kids u get benefits and actually I dont think men get any benefits.
Part of the problem about the discrimination part is that Canadians know you cant just say whatever is on their mind and discriminate against someone... so they wont say anything and you will never know if u were discriminated against.... but discrimination is rare. in fact alot of government jobs require a certain quota of ethnic minorities at the workplace. (non-European). its called an equal opportunity employer. U want a government job in Canada too. they pay very good and they are union.

I personally would keep myself from my "local community" (the country where I come from) because I see no point in sticking to their mentality and values. Otherwise why would I have moved to Canada in the first place if I wanted to stick to the old way of thinking and doing things?
