25/12/2024 Works amazingly! I got a new DS this christmas and wanted to get DLC for my favourite game series (Fire Emblem) but with eshop down it felt impossible... This works amazingly and has given me the freedom to enjoy my new DS with no worries, the tutorial is simple and extremely clear! Certainly felt awesome being able to do this on my own haha! Not gunna lie, homebrewing a 2ds was something I thought would be too complicated for me to do. But, This video was phenomenal! watched it a few times before giving it a go! Every time you laughed at your "I located my SD card joke" I giggled. Followed the video and guide and it was suprisingly easy to do. Now I can have fun exploring a homebrewed 2ds! Thanks so much! You’re a lifesaver, dude, thank you so much. Long story short I got a new 3DS xl and was trying to transfer my old 3DS XL into my new system. It didn’t work out, I tried different tutorials and methods. Was about to give up, but I found this video and it worked.
If anyone accidentally pressed a button while putting the SD card in or taking it out, all you have to do is force power off (hold down the power off button for 20 seconds) your 2DS or 3DS then repeat the process from step one
@@CapybricksANIMATES I had the same problem. I forced shut off my 3DS, reformatted the micro USB, and started the process all over again (meaning the beginning of the steps). It worked perfectly at my second attempt.

how big of an sd card did u use? Because in the starting of the tut at the part when he was in his files he said if u use and 32 gigs or below u can format it in windows at 3:30 of the vid. Now im scared i cant use mine because its 128 gigs.
Dude bless your heart, this was the best step by step ever, I messed up cause I thought my 3ds xl was a new gen 2 so it load screened me infinitely but I followed the trouble shoot and did gen 1 after un inserting and boom, like a charm!
Just followed the written guide, using this for parts I was confused about, so helpful thank you! I did have an issue with sd card not having enough space, but copied the files over onto a bigger sd card and thats worked fine restarting from the previous step
if like me you bought the 3DS from internet, make sure it is up to date. I had a version priot to 11.4 I was stuck on the loading screen and troubleshooting was not working either. Once updated it worked !
Thank you so so much! This was extremely helpful. I have wanted to mod my 2DS for years and watching your tutorial gave me all the help I needed. Reading it alone on the website was overwhelming and just confusing enough that I probably would have messed it up, if not that, it helped me from panicking too much haha! There was one part where I had an error that the video did not display but I went to the troubleshooting link and it clearly explained what I needed to do. It's stressful but it worked out in the end!

Ran into graphics split issues where part of the top is shown on the bottom with GBA games if 32kb allocation was selected changed to 64 k and screen split issue was resolved!

Firstly, as of 6/12/24 this still works (with very minor differences such as there being no "bat" written in the Windows version and payloads already being created for me. @@NicholasAngioletti-k4w It shouldn't be a problem if you've never modded anything before, the only console I've modded before the 3ds was the psVita and the process is completely different. So long as you follow the video /official guide you should be good. Unfortunately I can't help in recommending an extracting software as I've only ever used the built in one for Windows. Hope I've been even a little bit of help!

you haven't done anything wrong, you have to load up the checkpoint game from your homepage first, and then if you go back to the homebrew launcher it will show up.

this still works on old 3DS as of 7th Jan 2025 i was running ver 11.15, took about 45mins on my macbook pro M1. everything works including games. thanks for the tutorial!

@ it was about 30 minutes, and that was me being very, very careful lol. I've been putting this off for months out of fear I'd brick it, but it wasn't that hard. Luckily I didn't hit any snags or have to backtrack.
2/9/2025 STILL WORKS! This is the very first tutorial I've ever done for something like this that actually worked on the very first try!!! I think having a video following a written guide is insanely helpful.
I've watched this video at least 7 times to makes sure i knew what i was doing, after building up the confidence i can confidently say my 3DS is modded and I've been able to dump my 3DS games onto my actual 3DS which feels incredible to do! On top of a custom theme it just feels soo nice to have finally done this, there is so much more i want to do with this like downloading DLC or setting up pretendo or getting emulators to work on this. i was running ver 11.15, took about 45mins on my macbook pro M1. everything works including games. thanks for the tutorial!
Heyy how did u format the SD card? I don't see a fat32 option. Did you just use ExFat? And if you did, did it work out okay?
@ using desk utility, make sure in the menu top left of the screen in ‘view’ you have ‘show all devices’ selected
when i try to copy the finalize files it won’t let me because it say it has write protection
the switch on your sd card has to be flicked up

I was able to successfully mod mines though with this video :) I'm so happy now! Didn't you know that once installed you can scan a games QR code found online with your 3ds and remote download it?! It's crazy!

@@citrusparrotmy luma folder already had a payloads folder. What now? Do I just drag the finalize helper into the existing folder? Or do I create a new one and name it payloads anyways?

@ it was about 30 minutes, and that was me being very, very careful lol. I've been putting this off for months out of fear I'd brick it, but it wasn't that hard. Luckily I didn't hit any snags or have to backtrack.

This is the very first tutorial I've ever done for something like this that actually worked on the very first try!!!
I think having a video following a written guide is insanely helpful.
I've watched this video at least 7 times to makes sure i knew what i was doing, after building up the confidence i can confidently say my 3DS is modded and I've been able to dump my 3DS games onto my actual 3DS which feels incredible to do! On top of a custom theme it just feels soo nice to have finally done this, there is so much more i want to do with this like downloading DLC or setting up pretendo or getting emulators to work on this. Thank you so much for this tutorial really was a huge help
I challenge your opinion that the SD card is in your hand. The 3DS clearly says that it is not found.

Hey! It's 1/13/25 AND I AM HAPPY TO REPORT IT STILL WORKS!! I successfully modded my nintendo 3ds on a mac. The steps were a little different but not bad at all! Thank you so much FunkyScott you have gained a new follower! :D
How do you download games
Once you do this tutorial, go to his other video for h-shop, if you want ds games go to his tutorial for ds game downloads
