- Опубліковано 8 жов 2014
- This is a tutorial for a Basic Spiral Friendship Bracelet. This bracelet is created by a series of forward knots, the result is a spiral pattern that twists down the bracelet. This is a perfect project for beginners. Learning the forward knot is the first step in creating many different types of friendship bracelets. Fast, easy, and inexpensive!

when I started looking for a tutorial on how to make this bracelet, I quickly found that the majority of tutorial videos didn't start at the very beginning, left out steps, or were just way to confusing and hard to understand. Thank you SO MUCH for making a tutorial video that includes ALL the steps and is easy to follow. Thank you!
I totally agree with Rebeka Gordon. I learned to make these bracelets 25 years ago and haven't continued making them. But I want to make some simple spiral cords to replace ties on two beautiful blouses from India, the style which has two sets of ties at the neckline. On both the two different tops I've bought in the past two years, one of the ties has unraveled and there's no way to fix it securely because even the plies in the string have unraveled. I know how to make twisted cord because I've done that as part of knitting projects more recently, but I was afraid that sort of cord would unravel given that the cord that did unravel looks like it was made that way. So I wanted to make something like this, a skinny spiral cord, and these very detailed instructions were perfect for refreshing my memory. I'll just have to figure out the proportions to make my cords somewhat longer than a bracelet, but that match shouldn't be all that difficult thanks to the detail hear about using 50" of floss of each color you're using. And I love the idea of working on a clipboard so the clip part can hold the top end of the project in place! I really didn't want to tape anything to my antique kitchen table as the finish is messed up enough already, nor put holes in any of my clothing with a safety pin if not necessary. Even a tiny hole can contribute to formation of a larger hole depending on the age and sturdiness of the fabric.
Anyway, thanks!
I don’t understand how it spirals around by itself lol
the spirals are the knots that you’ve made. you tie the knot a little further than the last
✨ magic ✨

Thank you so much for the brain refresher! My Mom had shown me how to make these years ago when I was a teenager and now I can pass it on to my daughter! :)
Hedy Silby that's awesome and I'm a teenager but I still needed a brain refresher.
Omg this is way easier than I thought thank god
Very clear and very helpful tutorial! I've also heard of this being called a Chinese Staircase Pattern. I wish I hadn't wasted so much time watching other tutorials. I found yours once I typed in spiral! Thank you
agree!

"Clipboard" got it its called my big toe lol
Rainbowparty914 and Vanlliascop that’s exactly what I do😂😂😂

Rainbowparty914 and Vanlliascop deadass
I use a safety pin and a pillow
luna Nightingale me too!
why do mine not spiral around?
You need to remember its a backwards four and when the knots get to the right, go under the strings
Emma !
Incorrect. Its a regular four. They may have have done a O knot.
@@emmabraun7585 no your wrong I make friendship bracelets and I tried that it didn't work
haha whoops! sorry y'all, I was thinking of the wrong bracelet :0
Best video I've ever seen for this method. Thank you Emilie. Weirdly it means a lot to me to learn how to do this.
That's how I did it as a kid! Your tutorial is the easiest I have found! It is right to the point with simple, easy to follow steps. Thank you. No abcs or homemade looms. It's just right!
Emilie...you have mega talent and excellent tutorials. I'll be making these with my granddaughter.
I know this is 4 years later, but miss, that is the sweetest comment i have seen in a while.

I feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t measure I just use my wingspan on each string and cut them so they’re even 😂
Heh I know that's the exact same thing I do. It's way to much work to measure.
So abouti 65 inches? That works out to about 2.5x wrist circumference. Sounds right to me.
WINGspan? I think you mean ARMspan
@@axanthiccrestie2460 pretty sure it’s still a wingspan but sure bud
@@marla49 what do you mean?
Thank you for a such a NYC video.. It helped me a lot..Not only me... It helped the tribal artisans to design their Dhokra jewelry

Yess that's trueee
Yeeeeehhhhh!!!! I made it n it was just perfect n awesome 😊😍....
Ok so...my friend taught me how to make these but I forgot how so I watched this and made one and I accidentally cut off one of my strings and ya it turned out pretty bad
love it
😵the how it's spirlel it is SO peaty😍
Simple and great work 🎉🎉🎉👍
I recommend doing this with multicolored yarn/ string. It looks really nice and much more colorful
It's also a lot easier if you are beginner to work with more than one color. Way less confusing
Can you make these adjustable?
Awesome video 😀😀😇😇😀😀😎😎
Who’s here in 2024 cuz they want their childhood summers back and forgot how
thank you!
Omg thank you so much I followed another tourtorial yesturday and it came out rlly bad but this one was so easy thank youuuuuuu
Glad I could help!
Mind should be featured in a horror show!
Okay😂✌️👍🌈❤️💕
omg I LOVED this video!! thank you so much it really helped!!!
Thank you so much
A cool zig saggy thingy is to do the exact same thing but after forward knot do a backward knot and repeat over and over
I always do this bracelet with rainbow colors 🍭
That is so cool
You go girl
What size button?
Fantastic video
Where did you get the metal button?
What size button did you use?
Hehhehehehheehheheh I’m INVINCIBLE now
I have bracelets GALORE
My first one I learned was all in Russian. It's a cord. It's awesome. I don't understand Russian. Everyone in English seemed to knot get it lol.
Thanks 🙂🌸
My embroidery floss frays into lots of pieces as I go, is there anything I can do to prevent this?
Erin Hodgson I would recommend to put clear nail polish on it and let it dry
I would get the ends wet and twist
I love your video
you have no problem making it but I have a problem !!!!!!!! why my spiral doesn't look right ??????????
Ya actually i having some problems like that😅
My spiral looks so messed up...
how many string do we use?
When switching to a different color, is there a way to keep the new string aligned with the previous string/color? That way, the spiral remains smooth and doesn’t jump around with each color lol
This is so easy
The nots will go spiral itself or we should turn and put not
Which thread do u use
how do you do a over hem knot?! i’m so confused someone help quick!
im late but its the same knot as when u tie ur shoe LMAOOOOOO
What size buttons can I use for this? Don't want to get too big of buttons.
Christine Dutton you don’t need a button, just tie it in a knot.
This was so easy!!!I make these for all my friends now!!!
This is really hard can you use yarn??
Will it still spiral if I alternate every color rather than chunks?
So you advocate the 2x wrist circumference rule? I’ve seen everywhere from 2x to 5x in tutorials. My own bracelets always end up too long, lol. Better long than short amiright
You need to explain when to switch positions. My bracelets turn out so the spirals wave form a wave instead of a constant spiral.
Thank you for this! I remember making these when I was a pre teen! Now I’m making a few for OCC shoe boxes for friendship bracelets. Is there any other way to secure it without a button?
You could just knot both ends and tie it directly onto your wrist. Thank you for watching! Happy bracelet making! Sound like a fun project!
@@UntidyArtist I like your button idea better! Makes it easy to remove and put back on other than a knot! I just have to get buttons lol
who's here in 2019 trying to be a vscogirl??
Me
Of course
Please no
Why’d you have to expose me like that 😂
Not vsco, just im lonely and bored 😤
I stupidly used bamboo cord so it was extremely thick and hard to work with. Embroidery thread next time...
ForestyFox yes embroidery thread is better to use for making “friendship bracelets”
Maybe you could try doing this without a button.
Can we use more than 4 colors tho?
Heellpp Meee! I dont wanna do this! Someone please...
