Hmmm weird, I thought I showed the entire design... But oh well, the video is pretty old and I actually posted an updated tutorial a couple months ago so I'd recommend checking that out since it definitely shows how to tie the ends together!
I know this is years later, but this is not a square knot. This is a half square knot. A square knot would require you to do that first part once, then do it in reverse to make a square knot. This square knot will make your bracelet flat not spiral. Also, I, personally, would have loved to see exactly how you finish this off into a complete bracelet. ❤

Pretty much she folds this in half and knots them. Not really sure what your confused about because most bracelets have to be folded in half.

mine is just not spiralling evenly, sometimes small sometimes big and sometimes far or close together???
