Met John Mayer randomly in Union Los Angeles. Had a very small chat and underneath all that visvim he had to show off his bape chain to stunt on me haha. Easy going guy.

In the watch world, he's known as a bit of a douchebag. His arrogance really annoys a lot of people. If you read Hodinkee's comments you can sense the dislike of his comments and also his advise and general attitude.

Like I said, if you read COMMENTS on Hodinkee, is a different story. UA-cam is only one part of the watch world, but try to dig deeper to comments and watch forums. For example try look for a VRF thread about him and his ROC Daytona (later named the Mayer dial) he was trying to feed "knowledge" to vintage collectors to authenticate his watch; where his claims are "subjective" and "questionable" you will know what I mean...
I constantly forget how loaded he is because of how down to Earth he seems

I'm not a big fan of fashion, but damn. Bloody hell. Check out all the comments poking fun at the use of "rockstar". Chill and go have a listen. Of course he ventures into pop, but don't overlook the great stuff. Pop is what you would want to do if you want to get rich. Whether you like him or not, the guy can rock, you can't contest that fact.
(To the dude who sparked a whole issue down there, don't think that rock is only one genre. There are a load of subgenres that stem from the classic rock you know. He falls under the blues-y type, and he's a terrific one. If you think blues is dead, that's your own problem. It's very much alive and kicking. You're probably just in denial - can't play blues can you?
Also, you seem to be referring to good-sounding riffs. You could've at least mentioned Extreme or Mr Big and I'd probably accept that - guitarists are amazing, songs are great overall. If I wanted some "melodic" guitar, I'd go for the likes of Eric Johnson or Guthrie Govan or something of that level, not Arctic Monkeys. In comparison to those types, John's music is still very much pop, but he also does rock and he does it very well. "A famous and successful singer or performer of rock music." You wanna change the definition or something?)

Minus his mainstream success, he’s known to be one of the top blues guitarists of all time. That’s why the remaining member of the Grateful Dead got him to play Jerry. If you look past the hits, he very much is a rockstar. If you don’t know who the Dead are, go watch a doc and some live shows. True Americana
