Small Black is a perfect example of that special band that can simultaneously evoke feelings of joy and sadness, equal parts. Dunno how they do it, but I do know that I love them. From the heartbroken and fragile vocals to the dreamy 80s inspired synth pop and new wave, Small Black are one of a kind.
As a 35 year old autistic adult who stayed in his room all his life, this video provokes feelings of a life not lived, all the missed experiences, regret
It makes me feel like a carefree 4 year old boy again without any understanding of mortality and an empty heart.
This record has been there with me during so many amazing points in my life. Just some things stick with you forever. Limits of Desire is one of those things for me.
Kinda mad I JUST discovered this absolute masterpiece but so happy I did cause this just makes me feel so alive.
It's amazing when a music video director can capture emotion like this from a song not with a bunch of special effects and editing, but just a sequence of everyday and not-so-everyday moments that make our lives and the world we live in so diverse and beautiful. I aspire to create videos/films like this that make me appreciate the life I get to share with those around me. It's so inspiring. Thank you Small Black and Nick Bentgen and the whole crew. Terrific job!

I see it as everyone's weeknd , but notice how everyone's day goes differently in the suburbs , the hood , country side and city life.
Gives you a taste on how everyone's Friday or weeknd went.. Some the greatest day of their lives and some not so well.
But that's life.

I introduced this band to my friend from Hungary and she loved it. Unfortunately she passed away 2 years ago in a car accident. When I listen to this song it makes me happy and tear all at the same time, she was breathless.

The vocals kind of make me think of the band Seoul. They only made one album ever but they sorta sing similarly. The synth work of this reminds me more of Neon Indian or like you said Empire of the Sun
Highly highly recommend Hippo Campus! And like someone else suggested, Seoul. Also, Far Caspian's album "Between Days" is a very similar vibe and vocals. Enjoy!
