Tanglewood Mall is now Carilion Mall. Well, it might as well be as there are so many Carilion medical practices there now.
And that’s not a bad thing.
Yeah. Carulion owns half of Roanoke
Why would they welcome you there and then later just eject you? I find that quite odd and at the same time, ridiculous.
Different person.
Just went to Tanglewood for the first time in over a decade maybe? I had no idea there was a pediatric hospital where JC Penny was. Walked around the mall. Half the top floor was closed off entirely. The only store that was still open till closing hours was Bath and Body.
It is sad.
That's unfortunate that the store closed. And I hate when people just accuse you for taking pictures.
I agree!
Agreed as well
JC Penny is a nice chain.
I mean as long as they tell you nicely to get out then that's fine. Since this one wasn't happy that's the really unfortunate part. What's even worse is that if you were to go on the PATH train between NY and NJ, they're even worse (because it's the only transit system banning photography) and you can get your camera taken away. And if it's REALLY ugly, you can get arrested. Consent is not a thing according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. And pretty much anything owned by them (airports, bridges, tunnels, marine ports, PATH, and World Trade Center) has a photography ban in place and the ban is enforced 24/7 by employees, transit crews, security and the Port Authority Police Department.
@@davidng2336 And that's...just wow. Unlike JCP, they're *not* a private company, and therefore are engaging in illegal behavior themselves.
Just passed by there today. Oh the memories.
It is now a doctors office.
ok, so JCPenney closed down. mine is closed down a few months ago
I’m a new elevator photographer in the elevator community.
Cool! It’s a nice community.
@@Lift.Tracker thanks
It was filmed in 2017
You, Dieselducy, is my FAVORITE UA-camR!
Thanks so much.
Woah
Did the rude employee got a gun?
at 6:33 what is that screen door on the left?
Hey Andrew, where do you get the fixtures that are in the museum from?
Old lifts that were being either modernized or removed.
I really hate employees like this too. About the elevators, are they completely original from 1973? They seem really cool!
That seems to be a trend with women who work at JCPenney: Always very rude to customers with video cameras. Not sure why...
Is it just me or a lot of malls are closing down these days?
Some are some are still doing well. Tanglewood has been dying for a long time.
This whole COVID pandemic has hurt a lot of retail stores.
Especially when they were already being hurt by online shopping. Meanwhile, evil overlord Jeff Bezos at Amazon makes bank. I may or may not be guilty of feeding his wallet myself (I am).
@@xHadesStamps Simple solution don't buy from Amazon.
What? Something moving into a dead department store? Usually they're knocked down for something new.
A doctors office.
@@DieselDucy Typical nowadays.
What’s the music at the end of the video.
Cheerful Ragtime
Those doors are horrible and it just replaced this same too come on
I know.
Remember, photography is not a crime
Yep but private property can restrict it
Aw man, I'd have stopped here if I knew it was closing.
What's happening to this building?
Converted to doctors offices
Wow. Still a week before actual closing, and they're already effectively closed.
If you're escorted out, can you come back or do you need to wait a while? I bet it felt a little creepy being in a empty store.
What nice old store! Also, this goes to show how JCPenney has become in terms of service. Like that employee at the end who like walk 100 or so feet to observe your camera that was in your hand. Though walking out is the right thing to do, but at the same time it's to late for them because they have revealed themeslves by just coming up to you like that caught on your cam. Another issue is that some employees seems to pretend their part of corporate. Even though if there employees of the store there not main corporate like where im at now the Jcpenneys are very nice servic and don't act like they own everything. We stop going to penneys now because they are against culture and stop selling some USA Made products. If any incounter like this has anyone had should reveal who they are especially while having the camera out. It at least will have everyone look at it and tuning away from them. Meaning not step in to shop. All of the people should the not give them service so they realize it them selves.
Yeah. They're a private company and have the right to do that, but jeez Louise, they don't need to be rude about it! While you need to comply, *never* be happy about it, and make a point that you're not going to be, if they're rude like that.
The one in oak view mall is still open
Why did it Close down Pls someone tell me why 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Probably one of the ones they decided not to keep when making cuts
This stuff is protected under the first amendment. Shame on the employee.
But this is private property.
@@DieselDucy you’re an elevator channel so I would assume you would lack any common sense.
What is the music tracks you use Andrew?
I don’t remember these older ones.
I like the motor on the 1st elevator
Huh... my local JCPenney did not close its doors. This must’ve closed down because it’s in a really dead mall.
They're also making cuts due to department stores slowly going the way of the dinosaur.
@@xHadesStamps my local mall and the jcpenney are doing fine
@@carmellolb200 That's good to hear.
CRINGOVATION
Yep
So sad that it closed down forever and I want to know why it did
it is a doctors office now.
The dead tangle wood mall
That's so sad.
Dude how is this? Schindler escalators but Montgomery elevator!
Btw the elevator sounds like GAL
The elevator is dover
Oh
But it has Montgomery fixtures.
I will miss JCPenney a lot
it is now a doctor office.
JCPenney is now the site of Carilion Children’s.
She was probably having a bad day.
Yeah... she did not realize that an employee allowed him to take a look around the store before it closed down.
Still doesn't justify, but it happens
@@xHadesStamps Same thing That happened to Exploring Retails with Andrew at Ashtabula Town Square this year and the rude security guard had a problem with him filming so He had to leave I think he was with his friends.
@@AlexElevatorFan It pains me when people are rude.
Glad you documented this. Something about that JCP was always cozy to me. Tanglewood in general really.
I miss this store. Sadly some of these people can be jerks when it comes to photography
@@DieselDucy rip dover elevator
thanks for video
