My wife took my Chinese last name, and she's the one that's an orchestra teacher. So it happens all the time, when meeting a student for the first time, they always expect her to be Chinese and are always surprised when they see that she's white. I never understood the carrying on of the family name thing in terms of Chinese surnames ... we all have the same last names anyways, it isn't much of a variety and certainly many people who have your same surname aren't your family.
In the Bible Genesis 2: 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Last name change is not a Christian thing , it’s more an American Cultural thing. You can keep a dual last name with a hyphen. Or you can keep your own last name.
honestly, it's pretty cool that she has a chinese last name. It's cool cuz it makes her standout from the crowd.

My wife never really adopted my last name. My daughter because she is half Latino has two last names. But she uses my wife’s last name.

中国也有在前面加夫姓，不过是在族谱上。改姓只有在奴隶身上才发生。
我认为主要是中国重视家族，就算是古代地位比较低的女性也不会允许改姓，宰相门前七品官，更别说女性呢？
