So I just had to do some researching to figure out why Journey were popular in 2009-2010. From what I can see, it’s because it was a song used in the pilot episode of Glee.
The Ed Sheeran songs (except Galway Girl) charted pretty high in the US too, but only Shape Of You and Perfect reached #1. Also, Budapest by Georga Ezra made the Year-End of the US in 2015
The difference between US Billboard chart and UK chart is elimination of songs from chart. UK doesn't have any rules of elimination. If song is 115th in any week it would count. So old songs that are constantly listened to but don't achieve year end lists are still in decade end list. US does have 2 rules: If song has more than 20 weeks on chart it has to stay in top 50 to count. If song has more than 52 weeks (1 year) on chart it has to stay in top 25 to count.
All of the Ed Sheeran songs you didn't recognise are certified multi-platinum in the US: The A Team - peak #16 - 7x platinum Sing - peak #13 - 3x platinum Galway Girl - peak #53 - 2x platinum Bonus: Castle on the Hill - peak #6 - 4x platinum
Suggestion for a future reaction video "No'1 U.K., A Flop In The U.S. | 90s Edition" ua-cam.com/video/BJqSQTsxvf0/v-deo.html (This channel also has 80's and 2000s versions of that video, as well as videos of the songs that were hits in the US and flops in the UK)
Years and Years lead singer is Olly who represented the UK this year at Eurovision
