As a former resident and a former Southwarer Parish Councillor, I would like to comment all involved with the creation of this excellent, informative video. I hope everyone in Southwater and at HDC lends unequivocal support. This should be rolled out to all Parish Councils in England.
Great video, the interference and bad design of the new road layout is a joke it's so bad, and the two blocks of flats that look completely out of place, and cutting down hundreds of years old trees is bloody wrong,
I grew up on Great House Farm in Southwater my Dad was a herdsman there for 16 years absolutely breaks my heart the farm has gone my childhood home gone the Southwater I loved gone. 😪😪
19:07 - A clause in the transfer agreement to block purchasers from objecting to future development is highly unethical. I'm genuinely shocked that such a clause is included. What an absolute abuse of the power that developers have over consumers buying their properties. Shame on Berkeley Homes.
With the new draft Local Plan allocating 1000+ homes West of Southwater, basically regurgitating Berkeley’s plan, this video is as relevant in 2024 as it was a year ago.
I remember about 5 years ago seeing a family of deer running across the fields near the a24 roundabout and even the they looked completely lost and terrified, naturally you're removing corridors that are hardwired into their DNA...but its okay if people make millions out of this its fine apparently. The moment we neglect nature is the moment we lose ourselves
You've got a spare £750K+ waiting to splash then have you? If not then unlikely you'll be able to buy one. They're building for profit, not for people.
Dee, there are other options instead of ruining countryside. Empty office buildings, brownfield sites, building higher rise in cities where space available etc etc
I live in Southwater ,, love this village thank you for such a well put together short film , NO MORE HOUSES

This is what living in a country being dictated to by a few ruling dictators is like,

I've been watching the destruction of rural Sussex and it's accompanying countryside since the 80's and it breaks my heart!

I live in the gables
god forbid they build houses in the middle of a housing crisis
I guess you’re more worried about developers profits? They can build on brown field sites, which is more difficult and less profitable for them

They need to build 750,000 homes a year, which is the same as the number of migrants, where's the crisis?
Every house was a new build once. Even the houses belonging to these NIMBYs. Where will their grandkids live?
This is virtually all not local people, these developments interfere so much with us locals, and I and Southwater have bloody well had enough

Horsham has acres of brownfield sites Sat empty for years the developers just want empty fields because it's cheaper to develop..
