- Locate the Head and Rump: Identify the top of the head (crown) and the bottom of the rump. The embryo will often be in a C-shaped curvature.
- Straight Line Measurement: Use the calipers on the ultrasound machine to measure a straight line from the outer margin of the head to the outer margin of the rump.
- Do not include the yolk sac in the measurement.
Repeat Measurements: Due to the small size of the embryo, it's advisable to take the measurement a few times to ensure accuracy.

Thanks for the lessons. Please, from what weeks would the crl be inappropriate to use, and which weeks is it the best to use to determine the gestational age. And whats the position of the probe, my guess is longitudinal?
The most accurate time to measure CRL for dating a pregnancy is between 7 and 13 weeks of gestation. It is best measured in the longitudinal plane.
Very very informative 🧐
