  • I purchased 1157 (Front Blinkers) & 1156 (Rear Blinkers) LED blinker bulbs for my 2021 Yamaha Tw200. Also to avoid hyper flash I purchased a plug and play LED flasher relay. After installing all four LED bulbs & the relay I ran into some problems. The blinkers on my bike didn't function properly, the lights did not blink, and in some cases, didn't even turn on. I have a feeling this has something to do with the bike not sensing the LED bulbs, however I am unsure.
    After some tinkering I realized that the LED blinkers will work if I only install them on either the front or back NOT BOTH. So by keeping the OEM halogen bulbs in the rear I was able to install the LED bulbs in the front and they function properly.

    I used the LED relay in conjunction with 2 resistors installed in the rear turn signal circuits. Now I have LED lights in all four corners with normal blinking

    I love the leds. They are perfect. I am curious on the issue too. Great job on the video!

      Yes they came out nice / definitely brighter. If I am able to figure out the issue I’ll make sure to do a update video!

    I'd like to know more about the rear also. Thanks for this video. Definitely going to be looking at changing out the fronts.

      Yeah I’m not sure why they didn’t work. If you would rather have the rear blinkers be LED, you can always do that instead of the front. But the way I wired them it only works in either the front or back, but not both at the same time 🧐

    I have the 2021 XT 250. Today I installed the Zeta Explorer Handlebars, Zeta Armor Handguards and open ended grips. It looks great! Thinking about getting the Zeta Handguards with signals but I'm leery of the wiring. I was looking into the exact relay you bought. It looks better than the 12 O-Clock Labs version.

      That sounds like a really nice bike, Zeta is a great company and they make some nice products. Looking to get some Zeta products too! Ride safe 🤘🏼

    Good job. I need to do this. My front blinkers are super fast blinking. I hate that. LOL

      Haha yeah it’s pretty simple! The hardest thing is waiting for the parts in the mail lol, but honestly super bright led & custom led both delivered quickly!

    1999 TW takes a 2 prong flasher and it is located on the front down tube on the left hand side.

    For the blinkers...in the link for the LEDS did you choose the amber color or white/cool color?

    • @MostroMoto
      @MostroMoto  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Great Question, I chose the amber option, however because the plastic housing is tinted orange you could also probably use the white. The color might just be a little different. I hope this helps, thanks for watching 😃💡

    Did you try pulling the indicator bulb? I’ve read that is the issue with all 4 being led. I’ve read you can use a led bulb there and it will work. I’m waiting on my order from super bright leds to see if it works.

    have you been able to figure out the hyper flash on the LEDs for your tw200

    • @MostroMoto
      @MostroMoto  3 роки тому

      To be honest I haven’t, I’ve talked with abunch of people and I can’t figure it out. I might need to purchase a different relay, potentially the one I got is defective. Thank you for bringing that up, I should do a update video!

    my first question would be do all 4 blinkers work normal with stock flasher besides the hyper flash if so since you did not mess with wiring my guess would be the relay maybe from china ? i have had better luck with resistor

    • @MostroMoto
      @MostroMoto  3 роки тому

      With the stock blinkers & stock relay everything works fine. When I add the after marked relay they still work fine, but then when I add the led blinkers they do not work properly. I believe it is something with the voltage, and the bike not recognizing the led bulbs

    • @s1283
      @s1283 3 роки тому +1

      I’d def try all four led bulbs with stock flasher and see if gpz 750 is thinking the same as me, that you can rule out the flasher or the bulbs with that final check. If it turns out the flasher only causes hyper flash but the bulbs function fine otherwise (to include the not turning on in aux or until you use the flasher) then I’d say it’s the bulbs are of some sub par quality. But seeing as they work fine with the fronts otherwise, what if you only install the rears? Does that produce the same function result as just having the fronts installed? Or do you get new symptoms? Could be just the rear led bulb quality. It will have to be a process of elimination to narrow down what products in what order do certain symptoms. (I’m a low voltage tech electrician) so my guess is that voltage is less a problem for the equipment while running because the minimum threshold is above 13vdc while charging, but your battery is not large and could be old enough where it floats less than 12vdc on standby or when drawing in aux. most quality leds are good from 9-30volts.

      @@s1283 Hey thank you for the comment & advice! I tried with the stock flasher relay and all four led bulbs (that didn't work). I've swapped & tested all the LED bulbs and they all work and function properly in the front. I have a feeling it has something to do with the relay not sensing the low voltage. The battery on the bike is brand new, so I hope its not that haha. I'm going to try more process of elimination and see what I can figure out! I appreciate your advice & the time you took to think about the problem!

      @@MostroMoto so if I understand the current situation correctly, stock relay with stock bulbs works fine. Stock relay with leds at all locations does not work. How about stock relay with stock fronts with leds rear? Or rear stock relay with rear led and front stock? Maybe for giggles try one led in the rear, see if it will
      Work with one only. Obviously hyper flash isn’t a symptom of the problem itself as we expect the stock flasher to hyper flash at some point with leds. Then try the same with the led flasher. Idk how that specific led flasher works, but they don’t typically need to “sense” a bulb, per-say. That function would be only a can-bus function on a vehicle that tells you “bulb out”. But there’s always new and cheap tech out there doing wierd things. Oem flashers actually require the load to operate the circuits as they’re designed with resistive requirements to time the flash.

    • @s1283
      @s1283 3 роки тому

      @@MostroMoto good luck in the hunt. I recommend perhaps a wiring diagram. Maybe you can eliminate the rear separate ckt completely and just tap off the fronts with the oem flasher? Maybe that will be enough resistance to slow the flash with double the led load.
      And as I’m writing this I didn’t even think to ask if you tried having no rear bulbs in at all with both the stock and new flasher. See if the fronts alone in led or stock form with both flashers will operate as you’d expect. If so, maybe worth tying the rear ckts straight to the front ones. Just a thought. Not that I’d like to hack a perfectly good stock harness

    I have 2022 TW and change every light to LED except 3 lights . The 3 lights I didn’t change was the front turn signal and the turn signal indicator. I tried doing all the lights but the turn signals stopped working!!

      I can confirm, the diode harness to the turn signal indicator makes everything work as it should. I just replaced my front and rear signals with 1156/1157 (respectively) and the turn/hi-beam/neutral indicators with LEDs. The way the system works is described in the two videos I referenced, but in short: the turn indicator is powered through the opposite side turn signal loop, eg if you use your right signal, a low voltage current passes through the left signal wiring to the turn indicator, which is a lower wattage bulb. When you use the left signal the current flows through the right turn signal wiring and goes through the indicator, but in the opposite direction. When an LED is installed in the turn signal indicator it will only light up one way. LEDs inserted in the signals will have issues with the normal wiring set up if there isn’t enough resistance due to the current passing though both turn signal loops. Installing resistors for both the front and rear signals should work as well, but installing a diode bridge to the turn indicator along with replacing the flasher relay works perfectly on my ‘93 TW200.
