I love that you show that the high level guys are pulling this off. If this was just some rando instructional, I'd be skeptical to invest in learning this, because I'd suspect that it probably wouldn't work at higher levels. But the proof is in the pudding, and you show the pudding.
Thanks man that's good to hear. I like this format because when they see elite wrestlers doing the move and elite wrestlers being hit with the move it makes them more inclined to actually try it
@3:37 I’m getting the sense that initial leg ride buckle the knee before he initiates the actual trip. Look he kinda kicks the back of river as leg with his heel
I haven't seen this in decades...i knew a guy in college that could get near fall from a modification of this move...but i guess the technique is lost and forgotten!
@@joshuahenderson5104 a foot has to stay on the mat. They made what you’re talking about illegal a few years ago because it was super sketch and people was getting their knees blown out
I’ve never seen someone get hurt from this, but at the same time I haven’t seen this move done much. I’ll definitely tell kids in the practice room to practice it with caution or do it the way that the heavier guys did it
@@earnyourgold In order to get there generally both feet are going to leave the mat if only for a short period of time. I mean, it works, I just see it getting called even if one foot remains.
I checked with the head of the official association in Florida. Him and the red that sent it to him for me both said they’ll allow it. I was worried because I know they made a new cutback rule
@@earnyourgold Interesting, maybe it's a HS vs College thing? Every ref here in Wisconsin was very clear that leaving your feet on a return is going to be an illegal return.
Problem is that if you do this move it is an illegal cut back in the NCAA so if you are wrestling in that division please do not do this! The officials are taught to look for this position and call it illegal. IF BOTH OFFENSIVE WRESTLER HAS HIS LEGS OFF THE MAT AND DOES THIS CUT BACK IT WILL BE CONSIDERD ILLEGAL! Remember that IF you bounce on one leg trying to get him to come back you will be on one foot for a split second every time you bounce so you are considered illegal....I don't agree with it...but that is what is taught 🤦
In your opinion would this only work for lanky leg refiners like mueller or could it also work for shorter stockier guys with a zain retherford type of build?
Zain was an elite leg rider but I never saw him do this. I think shorter guys CAN do this move for sure, but it definitely helps to have longer legs depending on how far apart the bottom guy’s leg are from each other
Its cool watching your vids and actively recognizing these positions on my own now, today at Big 10 finals this was utilized by Aaron Nagao against RBY successfully multiple times in the 3rd period. Example of moves working against the greatest, ill have to keep this mat return in mind for my leg riders
@@earnyourgold I'm good but why would you show an example of a match that a guy got completely dominated in against a guy who had no ACLs. If you want to be an authority why dont you do your homework. Are you ok?
If you want to earn a gold medal dont watch this channel. Lame. Anybody that doesn't kiss your ass is a troll? Maybe being an expert on basketball is more your speed.
@@brutledge3507 Because the clip was an example of a technique, and not an overall winning approach to a match? Just because a guy doesn't win a match doesn't mean there's nothing to take away from his performance. You're talking about homework, but I don't think you understood the assignment...

It's always a good day when you upload haha
Looks like the next 8 days are going to be good days then. Thank you for the support man
Man... wish I woulda known this one back in the day. Great videos!
I wish I had too. And thank you
Man this guy really knows his stuff, good on you man!
Thank you I appreciate that
Love your content. May be the best instructional videos about wrestling on UA-cam!!!
Thank you!
great video, great stuff, always learn something with you. Thank you!
This is a really good channel...the best one out there! thanks for the amazing content! very helpful!
Thank you!
Love it. Going to start adding this to my top game.
Really good stuff, I keep sending this to my kid, and he takes it into practice and it’s working. Thanks

Your passion for the sports shows. Don’t wrestle anymore but these breakdown are entertaining. Great work
Thank you. Was lucky enough to be introduced to wrestling in HS
Just found your channel. Unfortunately I just tore my Labrum yesterday so I’m super depressed and out for a while
Damn man. Keep learning and as soon as you get back on the mat you’ll be better for it
Great Channel! Keep it up!!!
cool videos i wish we had stuff like this in 1990

song named?

Btw he would take the guy straight back kinda like a mircel from behind
Bo Nickal did a claw cutback his freshman year but now it’s an illegal move because both feet can’t leave the mat
I did this at the state tournament
NICE!
This is amazing, however you have to be careful to not teat any acls
Oh yeah for sure. Practice with caution
Is there any danger to the attacker with this or only the defender?
Is this legal in highschool?
Yeah I checked with officials before posting. My coach and I were very surprised but they said that it’s 100% clean
@@earnyourgold oh cool okay thanks! I must've been thinking of the one where you kinda jump up and kick both knees out being illegal

But the number 1 mat return is a banana split lol.
Go big or go home
Broomstick mat return? I think it is illegal in highschool.
Broomstick/cutback may returns are now illegal everywhere IF both feet leave the mat. In this situation one foot stays on the mat

Do be careful. This technique is now illegal in a lot of these examples. Can’t leave your feet in a mat return

In early 90s a guy from Arizona state would do this but his body was at his side, then take him straight back for nearfall
All of the great footage from back in the day lost. Kinda unfortunate
Great breakdowns. Please do some cradles & funk
