We really enjoyed learning and performing this piece, which was commissioned as the obligatory test piece for the competition, and were especially delighted to be awarded a prize for the best performance of this piece in Tallinn.
The text from Ovid and Virgil is still relevant today:
Omnia mutantur, nihil interit …: / Everything changes, nothing perishes
Perfer et obdura, dolor hic tibi proderit olim. / Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you.
Nulla salus bello. / There is no salvation in war.
Omnia vincit amor. / Love conquers all.
