    great tone; I was given one of these several years,, being a trumpet player, I have no need.......

    Wonderful playing and great sounding horn., I had one just like it until my son switched from clarinet to saxophone in high school. Probably why he got to play so many solos in his jazz band. Now if only I could get it back from him when he took it with him when he moved out. lol.

    Wonderful as always. Thanks much for your uploads---I've just picked up a tenor after 30 years away, and you're helping and inspiring a little.

      @@joeabaker57 I am tempted to learn, but it's too late I think. I am older than some of these old saxophones. They look a bit tarnished, but they sound so sweet. Like me? Lol! By the way, I can't say saxonophist! John in Brum

    And “they” think it’s the type of sax / mouthpiece/ reed that produced what you just delivered on that recording...🎼👍👌👏😘

      @@paulroupas9723 Price-wise as well. A new Selmer is $6,000, but you can still find these for $1,500. Wayne Shorter played his first two Blue Note solo albums on an early Selmer Bundy, which was just a scaled back Aristocrat. But same body, etc. You can't really tell the difference in his sound on those records and those where he's playing a Mark VI.

    • @paulroupas9723
      @paulroupas9723 2 роки тому +3

      @@jrbeckman2194 I agree. I have owned plenty of Selmers, including 7 Mark VI's, 3 SBA's, King Super 20 Full Pearls, a Ref 54, Series III, 2 Yamaha 875EX, etc. I buy/sell horns and mouthpieces. The best sounding horn tone wise is this Buescher Series I Aristocrat that I found for $500 several years ago. When I said it kills everything, I mean that. I have better playing horns ergonomics wise, but if you are looking for tone this is hard to beat.

    Your solo playing reminds me, weirdly, of Ed Bickert who is a guitar player. In fact, the kind of guitar players. Beautiful playing.

    The “deco” Bueschers aren’t well regarded by American jazz players. Rascher’s tradition coded them as mouthpiece-unfriendly classical instruments, and that became a self fulfilling prophecy.
    The Big B models are better accepted here. So are Conns of the 20s-40s eras.

      Don't think so. I've got both. Great horns, but art decos are more even and focus IMO ... And both are really mouthpiece friendly.
