The Chicago Fort Wayne, and Eastern operates train FWDE, Fort Wayne to Decatur, Indiana. This local turn brings hopper and tank cars to Decatur for Bunge North America and it almost always sports a pair of EMD engines. Normally, a pair of veteran EMD GP38-2s is already a welcome sight in 2024, especially on a railroad now receiving wide cab GEs. But Friday night, the engineer saw the family and I out and decided to put on a show we would not soon forget.
