    Buddy of mine had the same issue. You could hear the water sloshing inside the draft inducer. Pulled the hose and emptied the water out. Cleaned out the clog and he was back in service again. Good eye and good ear there Steve. Gonna have to start calling you the furnace whisperer.

    My trane has the red light flash twice too for the retry. What she is explaining is correct. It will retry a few times then stop trying to light but then the blower motor comes on for about an hour blowing cool air. Once the hour is up it tries to light through the cycles again. Only difference is that mine lights and burns for about 3 secs before shutting off. Flame sensor was cleaned and the induction fan replaced due to bad bearings

      90+ furnaces produce condensation when they heat. The condensation can actually be somewhat acidic and can damage old cast iron drains.

      People are scared to run the cheap filters especially nowadays with the virus around or if they have allergies. They think it will help the air, it actually does, but little do they know what it does to the system and the reduced air coming out of the vents.

    Actually the cheap filters are not good. They allow way too much particulates past the fibers. New furnaces are designed for the better filters today as opposed to older furnaces.

      When the unit has a smaller return than recommended, it’s better to use the cheaper filters so the unit doesn’t have a hard time drawing in return air.

    • @jdshear01
      @jdshear01 3 роки тому

      If you don't have sufficient airflow through your furnace it will overheat and shut off, it will trip sensors inside the furnace (high limit switch). The result will be short cycling and the furnace will eventually not be able to heat the house efficiently, it could make 3 attempts or whatever and go into lockout for an hour unless the system is power cycled. This happened to my furnace so I quit using the pleated filters and just threw in the cheapies fiberglass ones and replace them often. Granted my furnace is older - 20 years or so. Do pleated filters do a better job - sure but if you have an older furnace it might suffocate it and cause it not to work.

    Should have pulled the inducer motor and checked the transition behind it. Its usually cracked and then look inside the plastic trane uses is usually cracked there and thats where the caulk came from condemn the furnace replace the h/x or sell em a new one.

    Had this problem develop lately. Turns out the inductor fan drive has broken away from the motor. Repair tech says he sees this common on Tranes. Had just had the recirc fan replaced in Jan.
    The water is from the fan not driving it out the flue.
    Had to shut off the furnace from firing for the past three days. Had water running on the floor from the condensing water not being expelled out the flue. New parts showed up today, and will go in tomorrow.
    And to add, this guy is wrong about the filters. Change them as the maker recommends. If you can't keep up with that task, settle for the cheap fiberglas.
