- Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade Of Pale (1967)
We skipped the light Fandango
turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kind of seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
as the Miller told his tale
that her face,
at first just ghostly
turned a whiter shade of pale
She said there is no reason
and the truth is plain to see
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
they might just as well've been closed
And so it was that later
as the Miller told his tale
that her face,
at first just ghostly
turned a whiter shade of pale
And so it was...
all'inizio solo pallida come un fantasma,
all'inizio solo pallida come un fantasma,
diventò un'ombra più bianca del pallido
E così fu...
The best music since 1967…till now 2024, always love it…, every day…every night…❤️❤️❤️❤️
Agree 100 percent !
One of those perfect songs that you just have to play again and again.
Even though the lyrics in their sung version seem to have absolutely no sense or romanticism
@@raulhernandezgarcia1922 lol
The first time, I listened this instrumental when I was in my 20's. I kept visualizing that there was something that penetrated into my soul. It is heart shaking. So, I keep on searching for the copy of this song until I found one.. and I consider this as one my best choices to play. Rolling by the years am now in the 60's still I listen this piece..whether am both sad and happy😢😂
Thanks for this upload. I will never will stop listening to this.
I'm in the same situation, I'm 60 years old and I've known the melody since my childhood from a recording my father had and it's my favorite after Santo and Johnny's "sleepwalk". By the way, this song (A whiter shade of pale) was also Lennon's And McCartney's favorite song
Back in 1969 for an RAF church parade I convinced the elderly Padre, by telling him it was based on the music to an ancient hymn, to get the organist to play this as we exited the church at service end. It sounded absolutely amazing on a full church organ and with the church acoustics. To this day I don't know if I really did fool the Padre or if he fooled me into thinking I did. Probably better for my soul if it was the latter (😇). Though he did comment afterwards that it was the slowest he had ever seen the congregation leave the church as everyone hung around listening to it.
I wish I could back in time! I would be happier when this was written than now!
It awakens every cell of my being. Memories of life flow with the melody, it’s the greatest!
A White Shade Of pale. Is The Grand Masterpiece Of The World music. Forever. ❤️
Even though it sounds very romantic, I never understood the lyrics. It has no sense to me. Could somebody explain what is all about?
sounds just as great as it did in 1967
@@raulhernandezgarcia1922 The orchestral version had greater diffusion and acceptance in our parts, so much so that we knew the lyrics a long time later. Analyzing the verses is quite confusing because it definitely uses unconventional language. Personally, I interpret it as the chronicle of a bohemian revelry of a group of friends, probably made up of couples. Despite their advanced alcohol status, they apparently ask for more batches of beer. One of the ladies expresses her premonition about the action that her partner intends to take, who then confirms her intention of seduction. It seems that the white blanching refers to the white frost that formed on a can of cold beer in a hot, humid environment. It follows that there is talk of a particular brand of beer but no one has confirmed this. It is not a very coherent narrative, but the music is undoubtedly melodious and highly emotional.
Thanks for the interpretation... 👍@@marcelinopacajoj2048
This has been a part of my life and I intend it to be part of my funeral. Words cannot describe the other worldly feelings that it evokes in me. Just beyond beautiful.
many more years!
my Dad loved this and we played it at his funeral as he requested.. 😔❤
You must listen to the sung version of "Going Home" by the choir of LIBERA For a funeral, you'll probably change your mind.
Pure magic.Close your eyes and let your brain soak this up
Yes my friend and then replay.....enjoy.
It's just amazing how this song has captivated so many included myself. Just a masterpiece, instrumental or vocal. One of the best, it speaks to the soul.
I play this instrumental song again & again, it's so beautiful, it brightens my mood, if I have a bad day, I listen to this instrumental song & I feel so calm, so beautiful
This music will be played at my funeral. I love it!
We did have it at my beloved dad farewell lately😢
At my wedding
Thank you! Nice to hear the fantastic organplayer Matthew Fisher and mr Eyden on drums!
You Can Just Imagine Gary Brooker's Beautiful
Voice Chime in.😀 Also Excellent Organ Playing
By Matthew Fisher. Thank
You. God Bless.
I've listened to over 50 versions of this classic song and I'm yet to find a reason to dislike it. For me, it will go down in the annals of music history as one of those songs that'll remain ageless. Even when we exit this planet, we'll still be hearing its melodious sound of peace and tranquility.
There is something in this instrumental song that touches me to my inner soul. It is just so touching that I have to listen to it so often.
Avevo 20 anni.
I started playing this when it first came out, and still do. Love it.
One of, if not my all-time, favorites from the 60s.
Beautiful, it makes me sad, back to the past and remember sad moments, all friends dead
Gary Brooker's passing will even more poignant when hearing this again...
I know the feeling...Lost a old girl friend in 2020, another in 2021, and now a sister 'bout a month ago in January 2022...Losing all the women that took really good care of me....😭😭😭😭
Thanks for upload. The eternal melody is so beautiful.
ONE OF THE BEST melody ORCHESTRA. Of THE WORLD music. FOREVER. ❤️😊🇬🇧🇺🇸
I so very LOVE this classic piece of hot wax!! One thing about instrumental music is that you can place your own thoughts; (Past, Present, or the Future), and NEVER feel guilty about it!!! Let it flow. Let it be!!
This is the unreleased mono backing track appearing on the album "Procol Harum - 30th Anniversary Anthology" (1997). It appears in the CD 3, Rarities, together with an unreleased stereo version which actually has an ending.
This instrumental music just touch my heart, this is one of the best ever, I could listen to it all day long, so beautiful, so touching
One of the benefits for us to do when we listen our favorites ones with no singing, is that we can be the singers
Time shall not age this moment in the history of music....enjoy.
I have just read about Procal Harum's Whiter Shade Of Pale organ player Mathew Fisher and he says he played it on his own Hammond organ which was an M100 and not a C3 or B3 which was later stolen. No other organ sound or music comes close, what a wonderful player Mathew Fisher is.
Man how Bach is so entwined in this masterpiece!!
one of the best instrumentals ever..great post!!gracias..gracias!!
Blessed to hear this instrumental version
Thank you and RIP Gary Brooker for this all time classic.
Greatest instrumental song ever made ❤
I have always loved the Album's cover. It is amazing. I saw them at Brown U with Margie L
They were one of her favorite bands by far. It was amazing. Especially Gary Brooker and the unity of the whole band. A night that will live in eternity.Robin Trower too.
Fantastisch schön.
Magnifico!!!! gracias DavidCurci, un abrazo a todos. Luis T. Martín Gamboa de San Juan del Rio, Queretaro. Mex.
Fabulous as an instrumental also.
Wow!!! this sounds like the original backing instrumental tracks complete with the run- on ending.
Great piece of music, very classical!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR UPLOADING AND SHARING THIS LOVELY SONG !!!♥♥♥
The best of the Best ever. By the time it was all acoustic. I luv it.
One luv .Bieno From Angola - Bié
This melody is beautiful, I prefer it over the singing version
Leo MeCas jj
I like both for different reasons. It got peoples' attention because of the lyrics, but when I come back to it I prefer the instrumental. The hammond organ is a beautiful machine. I still want one...
Since 1967..., my Nº1 till now...forever..., love it...❤️
I only came here to see if I can hear the guitar (turns out I can’t)
The Drummer was not gonna be left out..!!😂
This is how I think it sounds when you reach heaven.
I like it
Definitely!
Iory Noven Taidos it was played on my dad's funeral on a cold and sunny january day... It was a very sad but magically peaceful moment. Love this song so much!
God gave us Bach to know the Heaven
nope nothing but fart sounds
Simply Fantastic!!!!!
Coisa linda!!!👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Beautiful song full of memories
y my tears cant stop from falling from my eyes
This affects me now, as it probably always did!
This is such a sentimental song, I love it, so soothing
Really Great Man.👏👏👏
This is excellent, never knew it existed.
We skipped the light fandango
Turned some cartwheels across the floor
I was feeling kind of seasick
When the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
And the ceiling flew away
When I called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was later
When the miller told this tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, "There is no reason
And the truth is plain to see"
That I wandered through my playing cards
And could not let her be, no
One of 16 vestal virgins
Who was leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might just as well have been closed
And so it was later
When the miller told this tale
He said that her face at first just ghostly
And then turned a whiter shade of pale
And so it was later
When the miller told this tale
He said that her face at first just ghostly
Then turned a whiter shade of pale
Oh, just a whiter shade of pale
Then turned a whiter shade of pale
Damn!! so classic...I love it...
Meus anos dourados jamais serão esquecidos 🥰🥰🥰🥰
AMO QUESTO BRANO PIU' DELLA MIA VITA, PERCHE' MI MI RICORDA.......L'AMORE, LA PASSIONE, LA DOLCEZZA, LA GIOIA, LA TENEREZZA, LA RAGIONE DI VITA, L'AMAREZZA, IL PIANTO, LA SOLITUDINE, LA SOFFERENZA. GRAZIE AMORE MIO, DI AVERMELE FATTE CONOSCERE NELL'ESSENZA DI OGNI UNA.
Pozdrawiam.
Tak do tej okładki trzeba dorosnąć.Sa Ci, którzy są wierni sami dla siebie i innych .Zachowuja godność swoją i szanują innych.Pozdrawiam.
My love making theme song. Always on repeat when I'm on it. Love it !!!! 😊
Linda melodia!!!
It's great many have discovered A Whiter Shade of Pale over the last few years BUT....this song had a deeper affect to those that lived and experienced the era of the 60's and the music.
Magnífico.
Thank you, Kim Taehyung for sharing this gem!

ONE OF THE GREATEST SONG'S PLAYED ON A B3 HAMMOND ORGAN YOU KNOW IT JUST AS SOON AS YOU HEAR THE ORGAN CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS SONG WITHOUT IT.

Genius!
great thanks
A Whiter Shade Of Pale /... eternity.
Johann Sebastian Bach - Air on the G String, which is the second part of the Orchestral Suite 1068 - Orchestral Suite. 3 in D major, BWV 1068, which the composer wrote between 1717 and 1723, dedicated to his protector German Prince, Leopold of Anhalt.
And so he writes again in 20th century, some genius is never gone.
perfect instrumental on utube
1967 one of the best slow dances out there
Straordinaria❤❤❤❤❤
sublime
This melody hurts so much
What a great instrumental out take is this!
Allmost better than the vocal version.

Nup, please don't die❤
I'd often teased the organist at my Dad's church to close a service with this just ONCE. I finally got my wish, playing this at my Dad's funeral. Brilliant in its subtleties, I want it used at my own...
Played at my wedding, 40 years later played at my wife's funeral
Tempus
