My Bernese is pushing 12 years old now and in top shape with no health issues. He is my partner in my Ironman training so he ran and still runs a lot. He can’t go as fast or as long as before but still can push 6min/km for 10km. I agree with everything in this video. He eats dog food but also lots of fresh food… meat, bread, fruits, vegetables. Hope to have him for many more years. He.s such a good dog.
@@zacsilec3266 When he stopped growing. It is common knowledge that BMD have weak joints when they are puppies. In the first months I even avoided him climbing up the stairs in my house. But started hikking when he was 6 months for progressively longer hikes.
We got extremely unlucky and ended up with an absolutely crazy male Berner who is huge and is extremely jumpy and spazzes out all the time. He runs at you like a bull, side swipes you, barrels into the wall, and doesn’t give a crap whose in his way. We’ve done training and have given him chance after chance and he almost always ends up hurting someone in my family on a daily basis because of his size and craziness. He’s not mean, he just thinks he’s a little dog and doesn’t realize the harm he’s causing. No clue what to do with this guy but we are ready to send him off to someone else.
@@Farfignewton29 Oh, I'm sorry...if he is still under 2yo he is still a puppy........they mature later than any other breed.....IF you decide to give him up, there is such a HUGE demand for the breed, you'll have no trouble finding him a good home, GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Thinking of getting one of these dogs in about 5yrs to help around the home and be a support animal for my kiddos. We're (Currently) a fully neurodivergent household (4th baby due January) and feel like this breed would be perfect for our family. The children would have jobs, the pup would have jobs, we already spend approx 2hrs a day on long walks. The kiddos want to buy one a waggon for bringing things from one room to another when we're doing chores which could be really handy for a working pup. Huge progress for us because my littlest 2 were afraid of dogs until recently. Oldest is delighted.
You missed one: DON'T TOUCH MY F... PAWS. It takes time and much effort for a human to be let by me to do it. Playing fetch? Really? Look at me, I weigh 130 lbs and am 2 feet tall.
Fantastic video. Helps big time with my teddy boy!! Got some videos of Emma, my channel, if anyone cares enough to see lol such a sweetheart!! a big MUSH!! Great with dogs of all sizes and children!! But the hair 😑 shedding is a bit to deal with lol But now he’s itching and I’ve tried everything .. not fleas but allergies
Ours is about a half Bernie and a rescue. He was found as a puppy dumped off at a park!! We live on the tropical island of Guam and he spends most time inside with the air conditioning. What a sweet dog he is!! We adore him!
I live in southern Idaho. In the summer our Bernese spends the hottest part of the day inside. But during the winter I have found him stretched out in the snow with a temperature of 17 degrees sound asleep.
Minus points for advising raw food feeding. Look at the scientific literature, there is no additional benefit to raw food feeding. However, there is plenty of evidence for increased risk of food poisoning in your dog by introduction of salmonella or clostridium species. Poor research or maybe worse, you could be just putting dog’s health at risk for that sponsorship money. I hope you aren’t.
@@DogsNowChannel Agreed, so give your dog a cooked food diet. Advertising raw feed is the dumbest shit, at least kibble won’t give your dog a clostridium difficile infection and potentially kill him.
Our Bernese Astra (passed away 2 years agu in the age 12yrs and 8 months) was lazy when we go with her same way every day. When we go with her on some new places, she was very energetic and enthusiastic.Try to avoid always same routine.

An AMAZING breed...the sweetest, best...most loyal and loving there is.

Yes, we have one that itches as well. I agree, allergies.
I had three, best dogs ever.. assuming you live in the proper temperature area. Not a dog for tropical climate.

Play fetch? LOL. You clearly don't know Bernese Mountain Dogs
🤣😂 facts
Lmao
This was my reaction too! Lol. My girl just looks at us like...what do you want me to do with this? 😂
First time Bernese dog owner here. He loves being outside when it's cold. At what Temps should I bring him in to sleep?
5 to 10 above...Their double winter coat should be in full bloom however...A light fall coat 32 degrees
You don't, look at sled dogs
Simply the best breed

kibble is much more dangerous. Kibble is artificial food aka its NOT food its just labeled food and shouldnt be eaten by dogs.

It's because this video doesn't know the first thing about the nuances of Bernese Mountain Dogs
Some breeds should NOT be fixed // turns them into slugs // learned this one the hard way.
8. (Главное) никогда не относитесь к зенненхундам как к собаке, считайте её просто несколько необычным ребёнком (с усами).
I only socialize my dogs with myself and the animals on my property. All other life forms need to be chased away with extreme prejudice.

Never try to play fetch with a Bernese.
I just look at people when they do it to me, like "are you dumb?"
True. Mine walks to it . Turns around and barks: your turn to Come here!😂
Not a retriever // they are a Draft Dog // get a cart and harness and they will tow your shit wherever you want.
