Love all these people who clicked this video just to crap on you, these are good and reasonable complaints, find a good place to work at. If possible you should start a co-operative electrical business if you can so you can be the guy to make these things better and help the next generation of workers do better and have better outcomes 👌
My first week on site the foreman said to me " You will never become an electrician. Prove me wrong" fast forward 10yrs im a contractor. Moral of the story: dont be a bitch
I had job that asked you to take your shoes off with plenty. Things on the floor to injure your foot .not having a place to go to bathroom and the rough guys could be butchers and the sheet rockers would burry electrical outlets the there were scheduling where everybody had to work around the floor guys where you could not finish everything ! The quality of materials like lighting fixtures. Of cource went down hill then in the rough the framing often had to be modified so an electrica box l could properly mounted and once the measurement in the foyer caused the the light to be off center
“1: Never had it, women always saw through my eyes that my testosterone is constantly plummeting because of my excessive masturbation to Dragonball hentai.”
It’s funny how all these “real men” got triggered by this video. You didn’t really even trash the trade, all you did was list a few cons but everyone’s over here crying.
Wow! That's sad. I love being an electrician. It's the best job I ever had and pays good money if you're good at what you do. It doesn't matter where you work or what trade your in you'll have to deal with B.S. wherever you go. It's all about how you look at things man. Life is what you make it my friend. Today is a gift, that's why we call it "The Present." Enjoy life because it's short. Genesis 3:19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your bread...
If you're working in Texas and you can travel look up Electri-Tex. I think there's another company called Electri-Tech but the place I worked at has "TEX" on the end. There based in Taylor TX in Austin but they travel all over Texas. It's a family oriented work place. They have awesome Journeymen and Masters that don't mind taking the time to train you and teach you the code. They want their employees to work their way up to getting your Journeyman and Masters license and when you go from being an apprentice to having your Journeyman card you'll see a very significant raise in pay. They take care of their employees as long as they're dedicated to their job. I know where you're coming from though. I've been through all that and it does suck. They're are good companies out there though. The guys at Electri-Tex would never put you down or rush you through your work. They understand it takes time to do quality work. Rushing to get the job done creates mistakes that cost more time and money in the long run. One of my supervisors used to say, "If we ain't got time to do the job right then they shouldn't have bid on it in the 1st place." Take your time and do it right and after you do things so many times it becomes muscle memory and second nature. Then you can get it done right. One thing I hate more than anything on a job is the foul language and bad attitudes. I've worked with the worst and it made me want to clean up my vocabulary because I don't want to sound like that. People say, "that's construction for you." No, that shallow minded people who have nothing better to do than talk crap all day. It's up to us to be the change we want to see in the world. Anyway, I noticed your other video with 17 things you love about being an electrician lol, at least you have more on the positive side. I wish the best for you bro whatever you do or where you go. If your not subscribed to them you should look up the "Sparky Channel" on UA-cam. There's another good one but I can't remember the name.
Pretty much everything you said I agree with. Hate looking for 1/2 hrs for supplies in morning. Hate redoing work as well. Hate job site politics among crew/other trades ect. Jm electrician. With all that being said I've started just showing up with the mentality that I'm only there to do get paid and that's it and forget about it when I get home. Obviously I don't try and do shit work either. I also wanted to say that all the careers now days have bullshit going on so I don't think its possible to find a problem free job.
Thanks for this. I’m looking into the electrician trade myself and it sounds pretty great, but it’s also good to hear the reasons why it’s not all sunshine and roses.
I completely understand. I have had a wide spectrum of jobs in my life, security guard, nightclub doorman, mental health worker, construction, hopefully the final one will be plumbing. All I can say is that these complaints can be heard in practically every job environment, and yes I understand what you mean.
I used to do low voltage (I get that it’s not electrical but it’s similar). Everything you said is true. I remember constantly having to drive to job sites which were a minimum of an hour away, usually more (with my own car, no gas pay or mileage). Shift times could be as short as 3 hours or as long as 14 with no notice, at all times of the day. Environments were always filled with asbestos, dust and who knows what in the older ceilings. One time we worked at an apartment construction site all through winter and there was no heat whatsoever. Low pay as well. I could go on and on. To those who enjoy working in the trades, I commend you. But nobody should be cutting down this man for being honest. If you have the option to make the same money in an office setting as you would in the trades you would be a fool not to IMO. Good luck in getting out man, it sucks out there.
I love being an electrician. When I started out at age 18 and now 32 I had the same treatment from other coworkers. Many of them were experienced journeyman and they all see young people starting out as worthless. Bust your ass and learn from them. I promise it will get better once you gain experience and knowledge!
Been a electrician for the last 17 years as a employee and a employer. I love it. I can move anywhere I want and get a job in no time. I moved to the west coast because I started to hate working in the freezing cold. I couldn’t see myself doing anything else as far has working for someone else.
I feel you bro, I got my degree and became a construction manager instead of a electrician being a apprentice sucked ass. I felt like a slave digging for hours while a white man told me to dig faster. Fuck that shit
Being an apprentice of anything sucks. You’ll be the guy who cleans all the trucks, cleans up the job site at the end of the day, sorts and carries the materials around in the connex or cage, etc. I get it. It sucks ass but every beginner gotta put in their time before they can start leading jobs and moving up the ladder. I sure as hell went through it. Look on the bright side: when you get to the point where you can work without needing to be watched all day and show self-sufficiency, by then there may be new apprentices that get hired on that’ll take care of cleaning the trucks and digging the trenches and being the materials b****, etc. Like I said, you just gotta put in the time.
Being an electrician you literally only dig for like couple days out the whole big job and digging is the easiest part and I like to get out of the building there more hot when no ac atleast you get wind outside and don't have to worry about all the dust ..I love doing the u underground part of being electrician I put in two huge switch boards today and panel and to do shit down over weekend and get power on next week .and most company's have mini ex that does most the digging so don't let this scare you cause you barely ever dig as electrician in my experience I did it every day as a under ground lineman
that's funny but legitimate. idk if you're an apprentice or journeyman but i used to leave work pissed when i was an apprentice. once you journey out or get older you realize it ain't that serious. i choose to be the journeyman that gets along with others and treats others with respect, no matter what. We all have a family or life to come home to. I do NOT want to be the guy ruining someone else's day. I may have and might sometimes without intending to, but at the end of the day, it's best to be respectful. Some people take their anger out at work. some take their anger out at home. either way, love what you do, ignore the bs. It's a good trade. What I hate is repetitive motion which is stressful literally. I love what I do and take pride in my work and it pays good, especially prevailing wage. But these body aches, man. And i'm only 31. It's getting worse. Long story short, environment sucks at times but you get used to it, and it's a good career. What else would you rather be doing that's so amazing and doesn't require hard work? death?
+TheCorvetteKid with all it also one thing is that most of time work is risky for life .and also not get good slarary or money , so I am also trying to get job in software engineering sector.
I just became an apprentice (only 4 days in) and I hate it but to be honest I don’t know what I hate about it. Having to eat lunch on your lap sucks. Driving to different places and not knowing where you’re going the next day sucks as well. But idk what I hate about it or idk if I even hate it but I feel miserable. I’m not good at the job but that’s the obvious for every apprentice because we’re coming in not knowing shit. I’ve always thought that I would never like an office job but I’ve never actually gave that a try... thanks for the video though I’ll continue working these next couple of days and see how it goes from there
I wish you the best! Hopefully it gets better or you find a better job you enjoy. It does get better, and you will learn stuff. You just gotta give it time if you want it to work out.
TheCorvetteKid I own a small business and thinking of getting into electrical. I spoke to a person who works at Independent electrical contractors of Oregon a few days ago. Is this good union to go through? They also gave me a choice between Limited energy technician and residential electrician for the apprenticeship. Which one is better in your opinion? Thanks!
never heard of them, so you'll have to research more yourself about them. as far as which apprentiship i'd suggest residential. more useful in the real world and for sidework
Done it Rusty, but at the same time I was learning electrical, masonry and carpentry back in '66. I didn't like plumbing either, but the rest was alright. I was too young to take it serious. I had to work on three houses and all I thought about was sleeping. We worked from sun up to sun down 7 days a week from foundation to roof.
Difference is when we got sucked into the service we had to deal with or be prosecuted. Real world you dont have to put up with bullshit especially if you're not being paid enough.
exactly my man, I'm Army, used to trying to enjoy the pain, pretty sure the military made me into a masochist...either way, still get a little anxious about my job...
An Apprenticeship in this trade with no family or friends in the biz seems to guarantee being shit on and losing the battle before even clocking in, though this isn't always the case. A thick skin is needed but the bullshit wears it thin after a few years. Never encountered such a concentration of disfunctional personalities in my life, and I'm old. However, I have also met some great people and have been on honestly fun projects. I think the trick is just pacing oneself and not trying to conquer the world by lunch time. And maybe showing up everyday for a crew you like.
Never had any family connection to the trades, mostly law enforcement. Started working residential in high school and fell in love. Graduated up to new construction/industrial electrician, and a thick skin + attitude goes a long way. Knowing that you don't know everything and learning from your mistakes with a smile and not a tantrum will show your journeyman and foreman the caliber of worker you are and the potential you possess. You are primarily an investment as an apprentice and its up to you to prove that you're worth the money and time the company puts into you.
@Jimi Hendrix what helped me actually get off the waiting list was talking to an estimator from a member contractor and getting him to agree to hire me personally
Every job has good and bad things I have been electrician for 25 years , and I feel like I was in school in practice you have to like your job in order to enjoy it
I was considering being an electrician or welder for a while. Right now I work as a Software Systems Engineer for a casino hotel and make about $22 an hour, which is slightly higher than a first year apprentice. Much like an apprenticeship, they put me on a paid training program to learn all their required computer programming languages.
@@DailyElectrician in my home area, the lower end of a Team Lead of Software Engineering would make about $120K a year and the higher end can exceed $200K I work for a very high-budget place so I do believe I can exceed $200K when I gain 10 years of experience
How about being in an attic with your belt and losing a 47.00 tool when you got it caught in the blown insulation? Or leaving a meter outside a house and having to race back in hopes that it's still there? HAHA gotta love those days! Shit happens, look back with a soft heart, open mind, and a different perception.
I am a journeyman and I dig trenches. had to dig one last week in 10 degree weather. Ground was frozen, damn shovels were bending. Got it done though... that's what we do, get it done and move on to the next pain in the ass.
I work for a industrial / commercial company and just last week we were doing a office fit up and upstairs there is a radio station broadcast office and they kept complaining that we were making too much noise and they were live if we could stop working and come back after hours…. Times like this makes my blood boil because it sometimes happens, people think we don’t have families and only think of themselves like we are dirty uneducated construction workers…. But this I just part of life not all people are like this there are many good people other there that appreciate the trades!! Working in the electrical trade is by far the best decision I’ve made. Keep up the good work and let’s keep re-wiring and re-building America 🇺🇸 together, no matter what trade we are all important!!
I live in CT finished school last year and I’ve been trying to find work as an apprentice for over a year feel blessed that you have the opportunity bro
Don’t forget that being looked down upon by your boss is how a lot of bosses are. Most of them have done what you have done and have been treated the same as you’re being treated right now. It’s unfair but if you ever want to be that boss in the future it’s good not to treat others the way you have been treated in the past. Be that boss that forgets about the past and treat other fair. And it’s funny how they talk to you like that at work but outside of work they’re are different.
Yea I'm trying to overcome that right now it's depressing at points like you try to work and do a good job these guys shit on you like there fucking just horrible humans dude you try to just do your job be positive etc etc they'll find any reason to attack you 🤷🏾♂️
I feel like this guy just had a bad week at work and needed this video to vent it. Work sucks sometimes man but you need to make the best of it. I'm an electrician myself and I love it. Hope you have better days brother!
Bro go to the service part of the field, I did commercial/industrial work for 5 years and it was mainly new construction or new projects in factories, and like everything you listed I experienced, I went to a residential service company and I go to a different house everyday and do a different job every day, I have an apprentice with me and that’s it, it’s 1000 times better man
Imagine doing time in prison with this dude ??!! Imagine he was your cellmate ??!! 6 months in the can with this dude would feel like a life sentence !! Lmao...
I am an inside wireman apprentice, and I feel the same way, except digging, (I like digging, gets the frustration/ anger out). I drive 2+ hrs to work and 2+ hrs back home everyday and I'm just drained wish I could just quit. I Hope your days get better and you find more possitive coworkers and boss. Best of luck.
Of course it's going to come accross as complaining, the title literally tells you it's going to be about things he hates about the job. All these people with hateful comments obviously couldn't read the title. Great video 👍
I love being an electrician. Since i am unable to be a steamfitter as originally planned my father suggested i do what his father did and try being an electrician. Ive loved it since i started doing it
I’ve been an apprentice for 7 months only been picking up trash bringing in lights (by that I mean the foreman having me unload an entire semi truck load of lights with only 5hrs left in the day) and doing other small non electrical related work. It’s my second job site the first one I was at I did underground put in lights even got to troubleshoot and run pipe. It was awesome. Anyway I was only at that one for 2-3 months, the rest of the time I’ve been doing laborer or non related shit. To all you experienced guys +3yr and up should I find a different contractor where I’ll actually get to keep doing work and learn or is this just a part of it?
I would say switch, sounds like bull to me. it is part of it but not for that long, thats a waste of time. ive kinda been in your situation before, just find a different company and tell them upfront that you want to actually learn something lol
Man I experience the same shit currently I get put on all the shit work like digging picking up garbage basically a laborer in the electrical apprenticeship I have classmates that get to do meaningful tasks and I get stuck doing that it’s very frustrating
I have a general contractor who literally said "your father should have shot you on your mothers chest"... get used to the abuse, relate, adapt, and kick ass. I moved up in my company quick and the same GC loves me now
Awesome, thanks for sharing. I appreciate that. I've definitely gotten better dealing with people and problems, but every once and a while things manage to get under your skin. That's just life though :P
And knowing how to fight really pays off in the construction world. Nothing like knocking that general the fuck out in front of his whole crew, taking his wallet and humiliating him by pissing on his skull when he is unconsious.
I’m an electrician The only thing I don’t like is the hire fire replace mentality if you have to miss days for hospitalization within family I was dealing with a situation with my daughter and got fired because I took 3 days off because she was in the er And I dealt with it again when I went somewhere else with planned out months in advance so that is so far the only thing about it I don’t like I love the trade being an electrician is a bad ass job but we could do a little better with employees needing time off for being sick or having emergiencys with out having to worry about losing your job
Late to the party, but everyone's different. I'm from UK, I was doing electrical based work in a unit, like office work but was repairing components. I took the plunge to study my level 2&3 in electrical installation and I've been in it 9 months, and I hate it. I unfortunately lack confidence, I like to be shown things and be doing it a while. I find I'm thrown in the deep end lots, and then moaned at for getting it wrong. Everyone thinks they're 'the best electrician', last I knew, there wasn't any awards for that. Self employed sounded great, in reality it's so companies can get rid of you when their work dries, no security, use your own car..so even though you're making better money, by the time you deduct holiday, sick pay, use of car/fuel you're probably not much better off. I have a few more rolls of the dice, but I'm seriously thinking of getting out already. I love electrics, but I hate construction and site work.
The thing that i hate the most is the anxiety of being on the top of a 12 ft ladder, pulling wire while youre getting bitched at to hurry the helll up. One wrong movement and it could be the end of your life (I know it's against osha rules to stand on the top of a ladder but my coworkers and foremen dont give a shit, they want it done fast
The thing I hate the most are fucking tinners, how they watch you lay out racks build them pipe them pull them and when you're done tell you they have a trunk going there or cut your pipes to run duct
Haven't really run into that problem before, but that sounds horrible. It's nice when you get friendly trades who actually work together and try to stay out of each others way :)
That's why I'm kind of against people who go into the trades rather than going to college. I really do feel that a lot the douchebags that exists in the trades are because they just don't carry a college education. I know the financial reasons for not getting one but it does make you a more civil human being. There's just always a difference between someone who's educated and someone who's not. I always recommend at least getting an Associates degree in Liberal Arts and then go into the trades.
it has nothing to do with the trade and it's a waste of time if not being used for their field... but alright 🙂 there are dumb smart people and smart dumb people. a college degree ain't gonna change a persons character traits...
Being a Groundman in the outside line who hikes mountains, digs hand holes for power poles with a jack hammer in solid rock and all that other grunt shit makes me look at this dude like he is a cry baby… and that is putting it nicely
i guess this video was too real for some people. I bet all those dislikes came from electricians who havent even worked a year yet. Still got their training wheels on.
Gee. I'm figering I will have to go through that and more, as the new guy. Many jobs put you through that to see if you can take it. Many times it's a test. I don't agree with it, but as I said, I expect that will happen to me. I'm willing to take it because I don't mind the work, sometimes it's fun and, being honest, I want that money. The problem I'm seeing is longevity. I want one job at one place not a lot of places. I don't expect to be perfect. I think I'm good at what I know and have done and I expect to get better. I have done industrial and residential wiring up to 3-phase 770 volts, live and completed an electrician course, with A+ grade, at LCCC (a local college) and I love a challenge. Now to you: you are better than this, you can do this. Don't give up!
I have been an electrician for 53 years and like any job, there are good and bad parts of the job. It comes with the territory. As for the hard hat, I have gotten so used to wearing one, I wear mine all of the time. If you get a MSA with the proper suspension, it is comfortable. You ought ot join the Marines and they will whip you into a lean, mean working machine.
If you do no like it when they use the heaters for the drywall then you should not move to Texas, during the summer it is normal for it to get 110 degrees just due to the fact that it is summer.
Here is what I'll tell you as a lifetime electrician myself. I've gone from from first day on the job to an office, running a crew of 38 guys....Don't be a pussy. Don't whine and complain. It's a tough trade and soft people will never make it. You get treated like shit because that's how people see you. When you complain about things, that's what they'll keep you doing hoping you'll drop out. If you think digging a hole is hard, wait until you're 90' in the air wiring 480v hot...there is zero room for pussies when your job can kill you. If your serious about it, do the work without complaint and you'll move up. The guys will respect you for making it and you'll become part of the team. It takes time, as a 10 year guy is still a new guy to me.
You're a loser, I bet you run a team of convicts. You're the problem and the reason people are not going into the trade, yes obviously don't be a pussy, but harassment on the new guys needs to stop. I really started to learn more when I found encouraging co workers and foreman, not being yelled at while dropping my tools. I swear I feel more comfortable with 480v in my hand than working with bums like you.
I just started being an apprentice electrician and i feel like shiet already for 5 months now, digging drilling hammering cementing and carrying, ppl can call me lazy, but seriously i cant take it with my blabbering boss alone and those pervert old co workers, mtfk just wont shut up and touching me as they please, even taking a nap and being alone is also a no no..bruh working with non educated ppl sucks!
Go to your local union hall and ask about joining/becoming an apprentice. Several of your problems with being an electrician wouldn't be your problem anymore. It's the laborers job to dig, your an apprentice trying to learn a trade not day labor. I'll end my rant here but there are many advantages to joining a union, and we could use the help right now.
My dad once told me, if you work at a workplace without an asshole. You are the asshole. Everywhere we go in life people are assholes. You shouldn’t have to put up with a toxic work environment but also have to remember to treat people how you want to be treated.
IBEW 357, I'm in service and I run smaller jobs. Good list but in the big picture those aren't huge things that will ruin your day, just have to learn to ignore people. Plus I find that it's how males communicate, if someone thinks your cool or they like working with you they usually pick on you. And the best thing about being in service, when I go to bigger jobs to help out I'm always on foreman rate. I usually crack into 6 figures annually around the end of August to sometime in October, just depends on the OT, live union, live better.
I hate being electrician because i work from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm and no one appreciate what i do. Now i completed my 9th year being electrician Without any annual increments. I hate my job so much man
meh those things happens a lot just start your day think as you are a wise and good hard working man in the field also keep a small note and a pen to start write down some important stuffs like jobs that needs to be finished or materials you need for next work. have a nice day man. PS weather is something we can't control so I'll have to say deal with it.
Digging is part of being an apprentice. They did their time, and now it's your time. I will agree, sometimes the cussing needs to be toned down especially in front of customers.
digging isnt the funnest but tollerable if not for months long. i think labors can do that tho, no offense. digging isnt really electrical work in my opinion (although needed at times) and just a waste of time and money for the company, but hey it's not my money so whatevs lol.
As a child I wanted to be an electrician - Ar 17 I started and worked at it for 50+ years - Enjoyed the work and would like to still be at it - inside wire man IBEW # 595 - Oakland, Alameda, Ca.
I love my trade i learn everyday an work with an amazing crew along side other journeyman passionate about passing the knowledge on an helping our industry tradesman coming up following the trade. IBEW local union #613
@@hvz_delta8678 hell yes, but that's why you have a journeyman teach you and NEC (among others). Turn the power off. Test that the power is off and work with one hand amap. Listen to who ever is teaching you. Safety must always be first in your mind.
This was super helpful! Very honest and realistic. Out of curiosity, what are some of the “dirty jobs” of being an electrician? In Hvac I had to had to spray glue for insulation on duct work. Brushing duct seal, rat shit..
It’s all a matter of perspective! I can choose to be angry I have to dig one day, or I can appreciate I am physically able to dig. There are people born with health problems that wished they could do normal things like digging. I’ve been in the trade just about 10 years. People are rough sometimes. IMO the best thing you can do is let the negative things roll off your back. I got picked on a LOT starting out, but I was always too stubborn to let any jerks have the satisfaction of making me quit. I learned to quickly improve so others had less and less reasons to give me a hard time. If you stay positive, enthusiastic, and professional, you tend to move up in position and responsibility. The rabble stays at the bottom of the totem pole. Keep it up and don’t be discouraged! I was promoted to a foreman position with a work truck immediately after getting my journeyman license 4 years in, and now I’m running my own jobs. Still not the most experienced, but I’m still pushing and learning. My advice is brush off the haters and keep advancing. 👍
Agreed it's all just part of working construction. Pay your dues keep your head down and work hard. We all went through it. I'm 23 years in and I now have my own small company where I can chose what work I want to do and don't have to deal with alot of BS but there is still BS.
Look bud, at the end of the day just remember that your situation could be 10x worse!! Be glad that you see the sun every morning and thank those around you even tho they may be annoying!! Be happy and smile👍🏽🐵
I work in a cubicle making $30/hour. I feel my soul dying every day and just applied to an electrical union. All of your cons sound like pros to me. I'm a 35 year old man, and if people want to treat me like crap, that's their problem. It won't bother me in the least. They can go get fucked. I'll be there to learn a skill that will make me tons of money down the road.
The number 1 reason I hate being an election, apprentices that think they should start at the top and not have to do the Sh!t work. We’ve all been there. PS . Make your bed. 🤣
I would like to hear more specific comments about why you hate being an electrician. Most of what you said could apply to Plummer’s or Carpenters or any job. From what I see an electrician has the most diversified job description of all the trades. You may be installing a breaker box, installing outlets or switches, cutting Sheetrock, pulling Cat 5 or 12/3: something different every job. Sounds like you get out of your job what you out into it. Keep the videos coming!!!
Electrical does suck. All the points you made are valid. Don't forget to mention inspectors. Inconsistent work. Driving long distances to cities and getting tickets. The pays pretty lousy as well. Hope you find something different.
12 things apprentices will learn we all dealt with. You gotta pay dues bro! Except I only worked in the greater LA area and SF. I was the gofer for 3 years. Words of advice, work commercial and service if possible. Better pay and you get diversity and can handle literally anything. I know more in 12-13 years than guys that wired houses only for 30 years.
I am 52 years old have a journeyman and master license in Texas. I can give you a hundred reasons why I do not like being an electrician. Number one its manual labor, and if you do it as long as I have you will die before you ever retire. If you want to work a job that will kill you before you retire, GO FOR IT!
What a negative view on things. You’re not helping anyone by complaining. I could apply these reasons to any job if I wanted to moan and groan about something. Try to change your thinking to find something good in every situation. Maybe you just need a change in scenery or a new career. It sounds like you’re sick of this job. Im in school studying to be an electrician right now and I know for a fact everything you listed is just fixed by adjusting your attitude. I hope things get better my man. Cheers.
There have actually been many who have appreciated this video, but I know listening to a video complaining isn't for everyone. I'm working on myself, I was raised this way tho so an attitude change doesn't happen overnight. I would eventually like to leave, you're not wrong about that. I hope you enjoy being an Electrician :) Cheers!
Digging is something I didn't think about in the trade. Yes that would royally suck especially in heavy snow or rain. I would think the worst would be shitty asshole co-worker's that you get in blue collar environment. Not that everyone is an asshole, I'm sure there are good guys out there as well that you become friends with.
Love all these people who clicked this video just to crap on you, these are good and reasonable complaints, find a good place to work at.
If possible you should start a co-operative electrical business if you can so you can be the guy to make these things better and help the next generation of workers do better and have better outcomes 👌
i really appreciate this comment 🙏🏼❤️
i like that idea
My first week on site the foreman said to me " You will never become an electrician. Prove me wrong" fast forward 10yrs im a contractor. Moral of the story: dont be a bitch
I had job that asked you to take your shoes off with plenty. Things on the floor to injure your foot .not having a place to go to bathroom and the rough guys could be butchers and the sheet rockers would burry electrical outlets the there were scheduling where everybody had to work around the floor guys where you could not finish everything ! The quality of materials like lighting fixtures. Wow!

Thanks, I really appreciate your response. God bless you! I wish you all the best! Appreciate it!

Been a electrician for the last 17 years as a employee and a employer. I love it. I can move anywhere I want and get a job in no time. I moved to the west coast because I started to hate working in the freezing cold. I couldn’t see myself doing anything else as far has working for someone else.
nice 🙌🏼😍
I feel you bro, I got my degree and became a construction manager instead of a electrician being a apprentice sucked ass. I felt like a slave digging for hours while a white man told me to dig faster. Fuck that shit
nicee
What else would you rather be doing that's so amazing and doesn't require hard work? death?

I totally relate to mostly all of this ;( I'm sorry man! Wish you the best!
Hey Josh go fuck yourself
The thing that i hate the most is the anxiety of being on the top of a 12 ft ladder, pulling wire while youre getting bitched at to hurry the helll up. I'm sorry ;( Sounds like you should switch companies. Hope it gets better for you! Safety is important!

Could be worse, but I hope most of these issues are situational and can be avoided by working for the right place.
I don't remember half the stuff I said in this video, but yes a good company makes the WORLD of difference. holy

This video showed me I am not too much of a pussy to be an electrician. But man it must be hard to wear a hard hat!
Yeah for sure. I would never want to join any military, haha. I would die. I'm a weenie. LOL
These young guys coming up (me 22) are gonna outdo you old rats because we don't cry and complain we just work, no ego, emotion or attitude.
Thanks for the advice :)
I’m in local 354 I’m digging everyday as an apprentice.
My dad once told me, if you work at a workplace without an asshole. You are the asshole. Everywhere we go in life people are assholes. You shouldn’t have to put up with a toxic work environment but also have to remember to treat people how you want to be treated.
You have an Austin electric guy for the pic of this video. Do you work around PHX AZ?
I do not, I just got it off of google images. I'm from Washington state.
I usually crack into 6 figures annually around the end of August to sometime in October, just depends on the OT, live union, live better.
nice, i'm gonna try to look into the union soon
Huh. I've been in this for 26 years. I got pretty good at it. Licenses ... business etc. I hate all the same chit. Especially digging.
thanks, appreciate it. i'm sorry you feel this way too 😢
I hate being electrician because i work from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm and no one appreciate what i do. Now i completed my 9th year being electrician Without any annual increments. I hate my job so much man
dang im so sorry ;( find another company to work for?
I’m thinking of changing my career. Thank for your help man
oh ok, no problem :) i wish you the best and success!
meh those things happens a lot
just start your day think as you are a wise and good hard working man in the field
also keep a small note and a pen to start write down some important stuffs like jobs that needs to be finished or materials you need for next work.
have a nice day man.
PS
weather is something we can't control so I'll have to say deal with it.
Thanks, I appreciate it! God bless!
likin the short hair bro, boutta become an electrical apprentice, thanks for helping me know what to expect!
😂 thanks! nice, no problem :)
It is always the foreman's headache, the journeyman ass and the apprentices fault.
@@DailyElectrician I agree.
Not true man journeyman dig as well
What's the pay like as an electrician?
Depends on the company. I'm not union, standard rate is around 35-37 an hour.
TheCorvetteKid how long have you been an electrician for?
@@DailyElectrician damn man
almost 8 years
You be that type of electrician that fucks up on a wire pull and have to pull that shit back
usually not my fault :)
Of course its not
glad we agree :) but no ones perfect, had a few before. im not afraid to be honest
As a child I wanted to be an electrician - Ar 17 I started and worked at it for 50+ years - Enjoyed the work and would like to still be at it - inside wire man IBEW # 595 - Oakland, Alameda, Ca.
Nice, Glad you got to follow your dream :) If you like it, you should keep going!
I love my trade i learn everyday an work with an amazing crew along side other journeyman passionate about passing the knowledge on an helping our industry tradesman coming up following the trade. IBEW local union #613
zane lile I want to be an electrician but I have 1 question is it dangerous

@@hvz_delta8678 hell yes, but that's why you have a journeyman teach you and NEC (among others). Turn the power off. Test that the power is off and work with one hand amap. Listen to who ever is teaching you. Safety must always be first in your mind.
This was super helpful! Very honest and realistic.
Out of curiosity, what are some of the “dirty jobs” of being an electrician?
In Hvac I had to had to spray glue for insulation on duct work. Brushing duct seal, rat shit..
happy to help!
i would say crawling through attics and crawl spaces, digging, working in the rain, and concrete slab pours
@@DailyElectrician Thanks man! Honestly that sounds pretty good to me. I can dig ditches for $60 an hour haha
whos paying $60? lol
@@DailyElectrician Bay Area / San Francisco journeymen make around $60 + an hour .
true, thanks! I'm doing better now! 🙏🏼
Agreed it's all just part of working construction. Pay your dues keep your head down and work hard. We all went through it. I'm 23 years in and I now have my own small company where I can chose what work I want to do and don't have to deal with alot of BS but there is still BS.
Where should I should work after college? I’m majoring in an associates degree in electrician
Look bud, at the end of the day just remember that your situation could be 10x worse!! Be glad that you see the sun every morning and thank those around you even tho they may be annoying!! Be happy and smile👍🏽🐵
agreed, blessings!
Do electricians tend to drive vans or trucks more? What's the pros and cons of both?
When other Trades walk or run over your cat 6 cable , while doing a project. That's annoying.
100% :(
I work in a cubicle making $30/hour.
lol
Bro it sounds like you need to find another place to work 😂
Nah I'm good ☺️
Bro I'm electrician in Switzerland and its the same here🤣
i'm sorry 😂😭😭😭
I would like to hear more specific comments about why you hate being an electrician. Most of what you said could apply to Plummer’s or Carpenters or any job. From what I see an electrician has the most diversified job description of all the trades. You may be installing a breaker box, installing outlets or switches, cutting Sheetrock, pulling Cat 5 or 12/3: something different every job. Sounds like you get out of your job what you out into it.
Keep the videos coming!!!
i was having a bad day probly so i made this video lol
Do you agree the tasks an electrician is required to do are the most diversified of almost any trade?
It seems that way, i'd say so.
Electrical does suck. All the points you made are valid. Don't forget to mention inspectors. Inconsistent work. Driving long distances to cities and getting tickets. The pays pretty lousy as well. Hope you find something different.
I appreciate that! Thank you! :)
Can you help me out I have a welder generator with a blown engine and I was wondering if I could just put a plug on it to the shop to use the welder
doesn't sound like that would work, but i dont fix welders so i wouldnt know. sorry
I love digging and I love dealing with heat. I'd rather live in Idaho than Oregon
To each their own 🙂
@@DailyElectrician hey, everything else you said was annoying stuff by the way, can't work with inconsiderate people that's for sure...
@@charleyweinhardt idaho? Oregon? Hot? Lol, try FLORIDA!
Nice! Diversity is good! :)
I am 52 years old have a journeyman and master license in Texas. I can give you a hundred reasons why I do not like being an electrician. Number one its manual labor, and if you do it as long as I have you will die before you ever retire. If you want to work a job that will kill you before you retire, GO FOR IT!
How? Your state pay terrible or something...?
You picked the wrong trade lol
Dude you complained basically about everything 😂😂😂
HAHAHAHAHA Glad I covered everything 🤣
@@DailyElectrician are you still in the trade ?
You learn to live with it
yep, vlog every day. check out the channel :)
yeah, its not so bad
This guy is low key hilarious lol
Digging is no fun but hey if they want to pay me $85/hr to dig fine with me.
$85 hour? sign me up lol
$85 an hour you clown
They will use a 1st year digging and a journeyman maybe using your excavator.
I bet if this guy worked inside he would find an excuse to shit about😂
What a negative view on things.
2:35 when someone else roughs in a unit
😂
annoying coworkers should be number 1
yeah hard choice between annoying coworkers and horrible boss lol
Digging is something I didn't think about in the trade. Yes that would royally suck especially in heavy snow or rain. I would think the worst would be shitty asshole co-worker's that you get in blue collar environment. Not that everyone is an asshole, I'm sure there are good guys out there as well that you become friends with.
yeah the worst is bad coworkers and bosses, then a lack of organization in a company.
You’re one of those guys that pros complain about right?
nope
Seems like it
How long are you in the trade at this time?
10 years in may
A lot of what you said could be applied to nearly every job, not just an electrician.
This reminds me of me when I used to do RESIDENTIAL Electrical lol, god I hated that job!
