    Scott I was watching Brass Medics Manticore video about the stabiliser I believe the only way the stabaliser is enabled is to turn the filter to on. I use it on 4 or 6 and pull many coins out with square nails it really works well. I dig very few nails now.

      @MentalMetal  8 місяців тому

      Yes the filter is only available when you have the stabiliser set at 1 or higher.

    Great video. Confirms that what I'm mostly not digging is right. Alloy bottle caps excluded. 👌

    Well, this is the kind of video that I need. I have learned more in this video than I have from watching many others. But I had to stop the video to make this comment. I feel like it's ocd kicking in. But I would, without a doubt, check any hole a second time after you think you found whatever. To me, it just makes sense. Especially for newbies like myself. The last thing I'd like to ask is, is there a pin pointer setting built into the Manticore? About 3/4 of the way into the video, you do something, and then it looks like you're using the Manticore like a pin pointer to make the high pitch tone to pin point the signal. Can you show in another video what that is? Please. I never thought I'd watch a 44 min long video. But I did this one..😅

      Well I appreciate your dedication thank you. The Manticore has a pinpoint feature built in like most machines. I will use it to precisely pinpoint dead center of where I think the target should be and then dig. Yes, double check your holes. Thanks again.

    Do you have a video on ferrous pitch on how to set those up to help out with target ID?

    3rd day with the Manticore and I’ve never dug so many nails in my life.
    So bad I had to switch back the CTX 3030(with harness)to not completely ruin an entire weekend.
    I had a equinox 800 years ago and I never dug so much trash before in my life, I sold it quicker than I could turn around, I continued using my Etrac and it never let me down, not even till this day.
    The manticore reminds me so much of the equinox 800.

      Maybe stick with the Etrac. I mean after 3 days I would probably sell it :-) jk. LOL.

      You sound like me. But this is my first "real" metal detector. I say that because to me it's a Mercedes detector compared to the only other detector I had many years ago. I got rid of that one like you said, faster than I could turn around. I like the fact that it does what it's supposed to do and detect anything and everything metal. I'm learning really. I had a real junk detector. I won't even say the brand. But all it had was two dials. That was it. This Manticore has so many settings that it feels overwhelming. But that's why I'm here. This guy actually does what I've been looking for. Explaining every setting. What it is, what it does and a recommended setting for it. This detector is a beast! This is just a suggestion. Learn all the settings. Adjust your settings as you learn, and your trash findings should drop considerably.
      This is what I'm learning as I'm typing this. Good luck!

    It might help us if we could hear the signals and how it might or might not relate to surrounding iron.

    I am having such a hard time understanding why to dig one beep but not another, when walking and swinging what makes you stop and investigate one beep over another?

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  8 місяців тому +1

      If you just started detecting, this is normal. You will get to the point with enough hours on the machine where you will know the difference between a good sounding target and just chatter. Give it some time. You have to dig everything at first.

      I just got my detector about 2 weeks ago. Everything I've dug so far is junk. But to me being new. I still smile because it's fun. I'm not out to think I'm gonna strike it rich and become a millionaire. It's just the fun of finding things. Pull tab, bottle cap, aluminum foil. Nails, fence pieces. That's all I've been finding so far. But it's fun.
      It wore me slap out the first time out. Lol

    Is there any reason not to have the horseshoe on all the time?Not sure if I’m missing out on other aspects while I have it on but I like to hear if it’s iron down there. Thanks for any info.

    I've had the 900 now for about a year. It seems like the 800 more stable numbers it didn't jumped around as much.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  8 місяців тому

      Maybe so but I know others who have the 900 and have smoked me on hunts. I think if the numbers jump significantly (greater than 5) and you turn 90 degrees and you still hear something non-ferrous you still have to dig it. Over the weekend I was using the 900 and pulled 3 nails out of a hole and at the bottom was a small button. I could hear it but most people would have passed it up.

      So 3 (three) indisputable facts....fact #1....the machine unmasked 0 (zero) non ferrous targets..only found non ferrous targetd all by themselves....fact #2....stabilizer really showed no benefits.....and fact #3....we are all disappointed you didn't continue to dig one of those asteroid craters deeper and bury that machine! Retire that thing already!! Haha..m

    I’m like you I normally have my stabilizer set at 3. It does help with falsing. Since the update it is a whole new machine. I’m not sure if the D2 is better or not cuz I don’t have the D2 but I love my manticore. Ordered the M8 coil from FB hopefully comes in soon.thought about getting the 15” coil also. Thanks for the video
