Latest on the repairs of the 2001 Arctic Cat ZRT 800.The pipes have been removed and refurbished and I discover a couple of other issues along the way.
Your probably the number one UA-cam snowmobile repair guy that I watch cus your thorough and lot other take short cuts plus I live in the northeast 😎
Thanks. No sense of doing it halfway!
@@StreetersGarage I'm the same way do it once and do it rite ,I'm in the process of doing a complete rebuild on my 1000 thundercat and my buddy said I was nuts but I want it to run correct not half ass .
Thanks for the drill bit set up on carb the Polaris xlt600 starts on first pull now
Excellent!
Good point on the heat shields. People often forget about the bottom line.
Indeed. If someone was going to keep it as a long term project. Absolutely, go nuts. But if you’re just looking to flip and get it out the door. Your time is money.
Thanks for uploading! Keeps some sled entertainment up while we have no snow! lol
Thanks! Glad you like it.
They’re predicting snow for my area on Saturday. Hopefully it pans out.
It's crazy how guys that complain about mufflers rotting out are the ones that leave it set where they stopped riding for the season, no cover or tarp, just leave it set there until the next season, and then blame the manufacture for putting heat shields on causing their mufflers to rot out. Put a cover on it or a tarp if you don't have a garage or shed to put it in, it protects your investment, and your mufflers won't rot out. Good tips on cleaning up pipes and painting them Streeter.
Exactly, these pipes were in good shape considering the age. This sled was primarily stored inside from what I was told and the fiberglass pads were bone dry.
Now subscribed and bell notified.
Thanks.
The exhaust shields are so that it doesn't catch the hood afire ... same reason the heat tape is on the bottom of the hood, above where the pipes are where hood lays over them ... Same reason why the vents are in the hood is to cool under the hood
Dual purpose
I'm a big believer in leaving things stock. Your right , why would they spend money and research on something's that's not necessary ?Good luck with those carbs !
Picked up the o rings this afternoon. I prefer the rack mounts to the round slides.
@@StreetersGarage My Vmax had those carbs. A bit different to work on but seem to stay in sync longer.
Nice job bud would you have any videos showing how to check the oil pump adjustment on the 800? My cat is consuming alot of oil and the plugs are black.....
Specifically for the Cat no. But they’re all the same wether it’s a Cat or a Polaris.
Remove the airbox and you’ll see the oil pump. There’s 2 lines or marks in the arm that lines up with a timing or alignment mark on the pump.
Squeeze the throttle all the way to get max opening. Look at the marks and make a note.
Loosen the jam nut on the cable and then you can make the adjustment on the cable. Which will either lower or raise the arm.
Tom, you should do a racked carb video like you did with the 38s
I started one last night for the carbs on the ZRT when I was replacing the O rings. I forgot to hit the record button and didn't record some of it. I may still end up posting it or just wait for another sled to come in with rack's on them.
I didn't realize it until the airbox was installed and I 'm not taking it apart again. lol
Thanks for sharing the video, it was very informative indeed. I have a 1997 Arctic Cat 900 thundercat tripple. Will the engine fit into a ZRT 600 of roughly the same era, with few mods? Thanking you inadvance for a reply, and please make more great and informative videos.
I think so.
I bought your Indy 500 runs great.
So I just found a 2001 arctic cat zr 800. ($1500)Looks good runs good but I checked the compression and it is at 90 psi on both cylinders. Is it still worth $1500 with 6500 miles?
In this market. I would say yes.
Which Indy 500 was it?
They have a repair sleeve for that I just found it the other day
Should be here on Friday
@@StreetersGarage Wut was the cost on it if you don't mind me asking ?
$75 including shipping.
@@StreetersGarage not bad
As long as it works. 😀
What is the orange belly pan from?
Arctic Cat Option
Pretty sure that the cracked fuel neck is from someone setting the fuel pump nozzle against it and letting go (like you do for your car). It’s really not a good thing to do with the plastic and cold temps. I always fill sleds by holding the pump nozzle and never rest it on the neck waiting for automatic shut off.
There was a guy last year in Michigan who did this and the fuel never shut off and it caught his sled on fire from the overflow!!!
Funny that you mention the overflow incident. We saw the same thing last year. Person was filling his sled and wasn't attention and it overflowed by about 2 gallons. Didn't catch on fire thankfully.
