    • @fry.master
      @fry.master Рік тому +3

it's an M car, brother; once it's warm you should be able to thrash it like you are racing for the CUP without failure. Not saying you should ever hit potholes or drive without sense, simply you can do whatever you want with the pedals + wheel on flat and level tarmac. This transmission is designed to shift hard and fast, make you say "holy shit I cant believe that didn't break something" right as it changes up and does the bang again. The science behind how that NA v10 M5 is fast without massive torque is a function of this.

For those in market for an S85 V10 bmw m5/m6:
    - Get proof of maintenance done on car, previous owner should have many recites and meticulous knowledge of records
    - Proof rod bearings were replaced
    - Proof throttle actuators replaced
    - Get a sample of the oil
    - Get car inspected
    - No more than 2-3 previous owners
    - Under 120,000 miles
    - SMG service as well
Next thoroughly test drive the car, put it through at least 10 ignition cycles. A lot of people with shitty examples will clear codes, some wont come back for a few cycles.
Cycle through the gears yourself (Use S6 shift mode)
If all of the above passes you should have a decent car. Don’t buy cheap ones, and don’t buy one from someone that cannot show you proof of maintenance.
Invoices do not count as proof, should be completed work orders with Vin matching the car.
All in all the M5/M6 V10 is probably on of the most fun cars you have if all is in order and it is straight piped.

There is a main set of cables that lead to the SMG. The insultation on the set that connect to the transmission typicaly corrode over time. Replace this and you have a high chance of being a happy man. It is best to replace it with some 12 gauge wire with thick insulation from the hardware store. Solder the new wires between both ends of the harness and use electrical tape then high temp cloth tape. Oh, and yes... You will have to drop your transmission about a foot to access these wires... Its a good single day's worth of work.... Oh look at that! A little over 12 minutes into the video and thats what you where working on.

I'm surprised at the condition of those wires on that harness and the fact that those wires crumble like that in that specific harness. I own two BMW's right now and both are older and one has been fully swapped out for another BMW (2002 330CI swapped out for the entire drive train and interior of a 2006 E46 M3) except the body. Meaning I have really worked on and wrenched on these BMW's for real and deep. As well I've owned a few others in my time and I have worked on them and done extensive repairs and mods etc. (Similar to you guys) Yet I've NEVER seen a BMW harness crap out like that! Of course it's totally possible that somehow BMW designed that one part and skimped on the wiring materials and none of the other major wiring parts of the car or wiring in any of the other models of those years. But I HIGHLY HIGHLY DOUBT IT. I say it was contracted out by BMW and made by a THIRD PARTY MANUFACTURER. But I could be wrong of course.

You replaced the wrong relay. The relay is black for the smg pump not orange fuse. Always when replacing smg pump is to replace the black relay next to the orange fuse in the engine box. You don’t have to get the same part number for the transmission TCU. All of the e60 m5 or m6 TCU work’s interchangeably but you must do clutch, transmission adaptation

You're blowing the 40amp fuse because your actual SMG pump is no good. The motor is working hard as hell, but makes no pressure because the pump itself that builds pressure is shot. You either need to rebuild that entire unit, or buy a new/rebuilt one. Should have just got the entire new pump from MLReng. I did the same by just getting the motor and accumulator from MLR for my SMG ran fine for a hour, then pump starting making crazy knocking noises and eventually starting smelling like electrical fire......... go through the entire system and get new everything.

I'll tell anyone that these cars are great & have awesome power & speed but anytime you own any of the Bmw- m, Audi S or Rs, Mercedes AMG, or even Volvo polestar unless you have the cash to put out they should constantly be kept under warranty period.
