They did such a good job with those ceiling beams in the 1920s room, because they looked so real and structural. That is quality craftsmanship.
Also. It’s good to see those gigantic pocket doors in the main hall slide pretty nicely. Everything that doesn’t have to be…often times completely redone, must be very assuring.

We are so very lucky to have all the original decorative parts of the house in tact. The pocket doors are huge. Someone tried to steal one and did some damage to the rails. I'm not looking forward to reinstalling it.

They really are. Ricardo is so professional. I can't even get them to take a break other than lunch. This house owes so much to them.

Things always take longer than they expect. It’s nice to see progress but it’s a lot harder than it looks like. Thanks for another update. 😊

I am always so optimistic and just when we are on track, something pops up that has to be taken care of. It's all forward progress so that's okay. You just have to be flexible when working on a project like this.

Oh my. I cannot believe you did this during recovery from a root canal! That’s absolute dedication ( or extreme silliness). What an exciting day.

The root canal was no big deal other than having to sit still for two hours. I didn't feel a thing.

Little projects always make the biggest mess. We have a running joke about the half-hour projects taking all day.🤣 It's nice to have all the footage to get a video out on weeks when it's so busy. I know we'll get there. Have a great week. 👍❤️🤍💙

We really can make a mess. I think 50% of what we do is cleaning up after ourselves. Things will slow down when the heat gets here. Now is the best time of year to work so we plan on getting as much done as possible.

I hadn't expected a complete demo either but once we got up close and started poking around there wasn't really another option. There had been a big water leak there for years.

To replace the fallen plaster underneath that landing, cut-to-shape HardiPanel and deck screw it up after adhesive it into the lathe boards. Did that at my palace up here. No more worries about vibration causing it to fall.

How many times have you had to sweep up plaster and such, only to have to do it again! It is moving along Janie, well done to you and those who work with you.

I got so tickled that Maribel put that tarp up in the sunroom and then we immediately moved just to the other side and created a huge mess. You can't tell from the video but this was an eight hour ordeal.

I was wondering about the plumber having to work on the bathroom pipes from underneath. If a leak or some plumbing problem happens again, would you have to take down the ceiling again for him to access it?
And one other thing- I was thinking that your fans might enjoy hearing where in the house you are working. When this video started, I saw the pretty tourquoise door and wasn't sure where you were. I figured it out later. Once before I think you were in the library, but I wasn't sure. Knowing where in the house you are standing for me would be extra interesting. Thanks for all that you and your sister do. Thoroughly enjoying the videos!

    • @leaguekempnerhouse
      @leaguekempnerhouse  8 місяців тому +1

Great tip about doing better on the videos about where we are in the house. It is hard to get oriented. Your comment about having to remove the ceiling for a future leak was very interesting to me because we couldn't tell until we got the ceiling down that it had obviously been removed before for plumbing problems. The pvc section to the tub is obviously newer. Once we looked close, we could see that the decorative rope trim on the beams is different than the original. Just casually looking up from the ground, it was not noticeable. It might make sense to put this back up with screws in case of future problems.

I just had a root canal after a crown just fell off. I looked like a 10 year old with gaps in front. 🤦‍♂ Mine only cost £40 via the NHS. My guess is you paid a bit more.
The fake beams came down without too much stress. great video 2x👍

Yikes. I wish mine cost so little. One of the perks of being old is that I do have Medicare with a dental component so it wasn't as much as it could have been. I was shocked at the fake beam coming out in one piece. It's always a treat when something goes right.
