    It's fun to sit down and play. Its a good portable workhorse type keyboard suited for a lot of situations. Battery powered, wireless bluetooth midi, and the built in speakers sound good at higher volumes. The sound engine isn't super configurable but what is there is highly usable. I like that it is trying to just be a keyboard and not a whole workstation.

    I recently played all the synths at guitar center. This was more inspiring than the fantom. It was the most fun instrument in the store

    Love it Jon, great video! I hope you take some time to dive a little deeper when you have a chance. The DSP in particular is incredibly powerful and can transform the sounds entirely. The amp simulations in particular are insane and not what you'd expect in something in this price range. Looking forward to see what else you do with it.

    ...And there's even some basic ability to sample. It's difficult to pigeon hole the 1000V as there will be something for everyone with this keyboard. My love for synths started when I borrowed a VL-Tone, my first synth was a CZ-1000 and my last 3 have been a CT-X3000, CT-S1 & CT-S1000V. It's great to see Casio back making great sounding synths that I can use with my Rolands, Korgs, Arturias, Yamahas, Akais, Dreadboxes, Sequentials etc. Nice video Jon and thanks to Casio now I've found you too.

    Really great review. Super helpful and I appreciated your addressing the target audience question. I'm looking for a keyboard that will be super fun and engaging for the family, and I think this might be the one. Hope you get to do more gear reviews!

    Loved the vid Jon and the fun club atmosphere. The Casio FZ1 introduced me to sampling and my Casio watch just works. A rack version would be handy.

    You didn't touch 1% on the DSP which is powerfull tool here I reckon and whit lots of control too which on it's own completely changes the sound. I don't thing this is a toy, it's not a studio instrument but still I see it far away from being just a toy. I see the vocoder thing as a gimick but on the other hand I heard some sounds I enjoy a lot on this unit, plus the effects and custumization.

    Very good video and review! To be honest, I watched in earnest hoping something would spark my interest, bud sadly, the Casio left me hanging. Vocal synthesis has such a narrow market, you just can't bet all your money on a one-trick-pony. I wouldn't say it's a kid's toy, and if you wanted to bring some novelty to your studio, for the price, you can't go wrong. I applaud Casio for coming out with an innovative product in this day and age but in 2022, you gotta bring a lot more to the game than that.

    This is NOT a kids toy. Sure kids can play with it and learn keyboard, but that doesn’t mean it targets specifically to them. Toy keyboards have distorted sounds, the instrument sounds are poorly designed, and usually have bright colors and are plastic.

    • @parasatc8183
      @parasatc8183 2 роки тому +5

      Thought the same thing. It is far too _decadent_ to be a kid's toy

    • @vladimird5280
      @vladimird5280 Рік тому +2

      Just with the amount of effects control I wouldn't call it anything close to a toy

    The Synthesis is actually pretty good . The sounds are sharp and crystal clear and they come alive when you layer them together (two voice layering)...
    I have many synths at home and i can honestly say that this has a character and the synth sounds (pads, strings, leads etc) are actually really good when you learn the right voice combos etc. It is simple to use. For a studio use i would say "buy it". For a live use the instrument is too clumbsy. I've made many sounds with this is already and the quality of them is pretty good. The Digital "tone" of this instrument is quite beautiful. It reminds me of some Yamaha's synths but it still has its own character.

    "is it a pro tool?" is the dumbest commonly reoccurring question there is when it comes to gear. I forget who originally explained it to me years ago, the mists of decades past have hidden that part in my recollection of it, but the essence is that a tool is a tool is a tool. It isn't in itself 'Pro' or 'Not pro' in any shape, form or fashion. The user may, or not, be a pro in his or her use of said tool, or the purpose for which it is used may be. If I recall correctly it was told to me in relation to cameras at the time but it applies just as much to musical instruments.

      @@JonMeyer But CT-S1000V has no chance to ever turn into a classic. How atrocious to build a keyboard depending on a phone app! 2 smartphone/tablet generations later they will be incompatible or deleted from appstore and doomed to be e-waste!
      📱🔥
      And not everybody is reckless enough to cook his brain with mobile phone radiation! (My phone has a dial and cord.) It should type the lyrics simply with piano keys and support a proper midi software for desktop PC. And Casio should make a mid sized version (perhaps keytar) similar like Yamaha PSR-A50.

    The singing feature can work well for electronica , when you want a “fake” sounding vocal.

  • @matthewgaines10
    @matthewgaines10 9 місяців тому

    Seems like getting real vocoder functionality from a real vocoder is something I would rather have if I actually wanted this feature. I have a Kurzweil stage piano with a built in vocoder and don’t use. I wouldn’t buy something like this even just for fun. They have a CT-S500 which is pretty much this keyboard without the vocal synthesizer I would go for first if I was shopping in the general segment.

    Thanks for this! Great stuff! I'm planning on buying a new digital piano soon and I'm looking to purchase an interesting effect pedal to use with on the go. Something of quality that is simple with a great tactile feel. Could you recommend me a pedal mainly for Piano, Rhodes and some synth sounds? I play mainly Jazz and funk stuff and some Israeli music too.

    I don’t think it’s a kids toy really. I own a very professional studio and I’d totally use it for many things in the studio so that makes it semi pro Instrument. Kids don’t need to adjust modulation or resonance. It’s really not a toy and that’s what Casio is trying to do now for a while not be called a toy

  • @sugamusic6477
    @sugamusic6477 2 роки тому +1

    You asks stupid question. This is obviously a professional tool and sounds keyboard. Toy Keyboard have distorted sounds, 32/37 or less keys, no LCD screen display, and is often out of tune, very low-end sounds. Professional keyboards like the 1000V has high-end sounds, much more features, and more that are way better than just toy keyboards.

      @@edwardryce2618 First point I was not "hating" on Steven Hawking, there was no hate in my comment I was mearly pointing out the the so called voice quality of the engine used in this keyboard, I suppose I could have mentioned Speak and spell for those of a sensitive nature!. There are far better voice engines than the vocaloid type sound of this keyboard, I sometimes use realivox blue, so know that there are better vocal engines and systems and realivox blue is relativly old now. I just don't like the screechy Chinese teen type sound this has or even the deeper sound, I feel it lets down an otherwise good sounding budget keyboard. Also I gave no insult to the video creator he did the best with what he was given. 😁
