I don't think it was self esteem issues. He just had it all from a young age because of his brothers. May have been boredom with him. Then the alcohol and drugs got a hold on him and he couldn't escape it. Drugs mess with the mind. The mind is an unknown territory. Better to stay away from it. You could get lost. And probably brought some joy to his life with his depression, etc. I love when they performed together! They were great together! Wow, I just looked him up in Wikipedia, and he was born in 1958, the year my husband was born… He would be 63 today, if he had lived! Rest in peace, Andy

But maybe he would have had a better chance of surviving it, had he not beein doing so much cocaine. It may have played a role in that way, but we will never inow for sure. It remains among the most amazing musical events I have ever witnessed [I've seen McCartney and Ringo, Moody Blues, Beach Boys etc....he had a magic others didn't]. He looked as angelic as he does here. He sang some old standards and played an acoustic guitar. The audience was older, not screaming teen girls. you could have heard a pin drop, he had us in the palm of his hand. I always felt that I was MEANT to see it.

Marie said sadly she had to break up with him over the phone instead of in person as he would call and call and was often incoherent and it was frightening. She could not live with what he was doing to himself with the drugs. That was after his wife left him taking their baby back to Australia because the drugs were controlling him. WIth addicts, the addiction is their first love. I know, I lived with it myself.
