    To make it stiffer you want pressure on it right to compress the spring? And prob gunna need tht spring wrench?

    If you are looking for the best syspension performance, best handling possible and as safe as possible, lowering a bike is a lot more complicated than that. If you want to learn more about it, "Race Tech" sells a great book called "The suspension bible".

    You can lower the front tubes for height adjustments ...but as far as the rear...I think your only softening the suspension and not really lowering it......Am I wrong ???

      So move those rings up for a softer shock? Curious bc I'm a tall rider but only weight 170 I find the rear shock is quite stiff for my weight, I think the bike was preset for a rider around 190, will this solve my problem?

    • @Slayer-cl8ji
      @Slayer-cl8ji 2 роки тому +1

      @@nicholasvankoughnett4558 i’m pretty sure up makes the suspension stiffer and down makes it’s softer. if you think about it the shock is less compressed the higher the rings are so it makes the suspension need more force to compress it

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 2 роки тому +3

      Those shock collars that tighten the spring are not for setting ride height to where you want it. To set up the right spring stiffness for a MX bike, you take 3 measurements from the axle to some point up on the fender, (most bikes measure straight up a point on the fender.).
      1) the measurement with the wheel off the ground, fully extended.
      2) the measurement with you sitting or standing on the bike in your riding position. About 1/3rd of your total travel should be used up there.
      3) the measurement of just the bike weight, (tells you if your spring is to stiff or soft). After you get the sag set, (the 1/3rd of travel with you on the bike.), the bike by itself should be about 20-30mm with the bike weight itself. If it is less, you need a stiffer spring, and visa-versa if it is more.
      You are right about it getting much softer by relaxing the spring to lower the bike. He probably sits on it and used 1/2 the travel, and bottoms out easily while steering like a school bus. :)

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 2 роки тому +1

      The preload is how much you compress the spring with those adjusters. The rebound adjustment is a little screw adjuster usually in the bottom clevis of the shock. It controls how fast the wheel "rebounds" to full extension. So if you get a stiffer spring, you may need more rebound dampening (slower) to control the stiffer spring.

    • @willyofthecave

      To be honest I’m not quite sure on this bike. What I would do is look up the bikes oem parts list and find the code for it. If you can get the code you should be able to reference it to a Bearing. Also with these bikes a lot of 610 parts do transfer from the dirt bike version to the sumo version as well.

    No offence but if you want to get your suspension set correctly you don't set it for seat height you adjust it for the riders riding weight and riding style and conditions. If you adjust if for seat height according to your height your suspension could be way off.....even dangerous.
