One of my favorite stories about humans being introduced to animals is that supposedly when Lewis & Clark were exploring the Louisiana “Purchase”, one of the indigenous tribes they had been communicating with warned them about bears, and clarified that their weapons couldn’t do shit to a grizzly bear. Lewis and Clark, unsurprisingly, decided that advice was optional because theyd never seen an animal that could take a muzzle loaded round. They fucked around. They found out.
Did one of them die?
Bears are easily in the top 5 land animals that are damn near bullet proof.

@@lizardlord4k One of my favorite things to tell/remind people about bears is that not only can they tank gunfire, but they also have a natural rage amp when wounded, so shooting a bear will somehow manage to make it stronger and faster rather than weaker and slower. At least that's what I've learned about them.

Actual, factual true story: my orthodontist has actually fought a polar bear and lived. He has received the Canadian medal of honour, you can look him up, Dr Eric Fortier. Actual Gigachad, and a very nice guy too

One of my cats was like a second mother to me, she was there when I cried as a baby, she taught me some life lessons, she was the best. An absolute menace to society if she wanted to be and a fighter like no other cat I've ever seen, even taking on foxes when she already got older, but I loved her a lot. I miss that cat so much!

Frankly if you've ever been in the eastern United States you've likely had the vestiges of my ropes drift on the wind directly into your mouth and eyes, can't just stay inside in a bubble your whole life cuz of some distributed silly string
Admittedly, it was pretty gross.
Gorilla strength is technically immeasurable. As in, we have yet to find the upper limit of what a gorilla can lift and carry due to ineffective methods of measuring.
And also there's no way to get a Silverback gorilla in a position to where it has access to hysteric strength, such as when a mother can somehow lift a car to save her child pinned underneath.
The bear thing isn't as hard to remember as It seems. Just keep in mind that black bears are smaller so you can scare them away and grizzly bears are huge so your best bet is to be as non threatening as possible

When you go into bear territory, bring a shotgun and a pistol.
For the black bear, you need only one bullet in your pistol. Shoot at the air, and the bear will flee.
For the brown bear, you need both weapons fully loaded. Shoot the shit out of it, and it may just decide you're not worth destroying.
For the polar bear, you need only one bullet in your pistol. Shoot yourself. The bear will literally eat your organs out of your stomach first, and it doesn't care if you're still alive.

In Canada even though I live in a suburban neighborhood I've been woken up by moose in my backyard. If you have a good distance of them they are pretty cute to watch at least.

moose are more of an issue when they get on the roads, they're a hazard on a lot of Canadian highways and you're warned to stop when you see them and wait for them to be finished what they're doing, bc if you hit them they will take your car with them, they are very passive tho
Coney could not beat a hippo. Those dudes weigh a ton, have super strong bite force (which you can't stop like a croc or alligator), and are always aggrevated as hell. You are dead if a hippo attacks you. Did I also mention their fast as hell.
the counter for polar bears is if you know you're in an area they live take wide corners and be constantly aware of what's around you so they can't take you by suprise, also don't go into the tundra bc they like hiding behind rocks to ambush things there

When I was a dumb kid we where out camping, me and my brother just decided to go for a bike ride alone in the wilderness down to a lake, and as we where riding down a trail we saw two huge ass moose or meese (whatever the plural is LOL) and we where dumb kids and didn't know they where dangerous and could kill you so we just rode past them and thought it was cool. We had no idea we could have died that day until we grew older and learned that, that wasn't such a smart idea LOL
