  • I keep getting questions on my stereo system I had put in. Is it a competition stereo, why am I running a DSP and do I really need it, etc. So I decided to make a video and hopefully answer all those questions.
So here is my 2 cents in the debate of motorcycle stereos that include having a DSP (digital sound processor). You will hear my opinion on this subject along with why I chose this route. I’ll give some facts and other info that will help you make a
informed decision on if you think it’s something you need/want or not. But at least after you watch this video you will have more info to make that decision other than you don’t need one.

I have a basic system in my 2012 Road-glide. Jensen HD1BT head unit, DB drive WDX6 MotoCD 6.5’s in fairing. Biketronics BT4180 Amp, (4) 6x9 pioneer TS-6900pros in lids and (2) Pioneer 8” mids in bags. System is LOUD! It’s pretty clear for my ears but I’ll add a DSP. Your system is very nice! Top notch level!

Thanks! A DSP will definitely help. I started with 6.5” biketronics on a stinger amp. It was loud but the clarity wasn’t there, would also give me a headache after listening to for long periods. Love my new set up. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@bigherk80 appreciate the advice. I’ll get a Rockford DSR-1. My Pioneers sound great but they’re not waterproof and are a bit archaic. I’m looking to upgrading to Hertz Neo’s spx 690’s for lids and 200L’s for bass in the bags. Thanks!

Make sure your head unit is flashed before ya add the dsp, you must flatten the Harley EQ that comes with the head unit.

you're right you don't have to have a DSP for speaker upgrades and amp(s) being added. Just know that at higher volume levels you will start to hear signal noise though from the bike, amp and stereo at times without one a lot easier than if you had a DSP that blocks those signals. Bike sounds good for sure and you're correct only way to get clean clear sound is by using a DSP especially using a factory head unit.

Sounds awesome man! I’ve been thinking of adding a DSP to my 6-8 speaker system. I have the Harley GTS head unit and there’s no eq and the bass treble adjustment is laughable. Peace ✊🏾
