    Thank you Eric for such great tutorials. I am quite hard of hearing so I have to put the subtitles on.
    I am very old fashioned so then I get your tutorial in written form with my old typewriter so I have
    it all on paper and can refer to it at any time without relying on phones or a pc.
    I have made a Crave Knob and switch stencil from plastic card so I can draw and record knob settings.
    I am looking forward to all your crave tutorials.
    you are a great teacher.

    I have connected my crave (midi out) to eventide timefactor (midi in) but eventide don`t recognize tempo( I tried same with TD3 and it`s work. Can you try connect some synth (midi in) to crave (midi out) and find out - your device will take tempo from crave or not? Maybe just my crave midi out is broken..

    Hey Eric, I've been sequencing my crave with an arturia beatstep. The problem I have is that every time I press play on the beatstep the pattern on the crave also starts to play. Do you have any idea how I can deactivate this so the crave only gets the midi notes but doesn't start the sequence? Really appreciate it thanks for making all these great videos :)

      If you set the Crave's clock source to "Internal" it will ignore incoming transport messages but it will still play the pitches being sent by the Beatstep. I just tested this using my Keystep37 and it worked correctly. You can change the Crave's clock source using either shift+hold+8, page 3, option 1 (see latest version of the Crave manual, page 41), or by using the Synth Tool app on your computer.

    • @PANTA-Music
      @PANTA-Music Рік тому +4

      @@music-with-eric This is not the best way though. Because if you do this, you will not allow the Beatstep or Keystep to be the master clock, in case you want to control other hardware with your beatstep. In order to keep the Arturia the master clock, set the Behringer clock to MIDI DIN input, and disable the Crave's 'sequencer auto sync' option via the Synthtribe app. This makes sure the Crave keeps the clock of your Arturia, but doesn't automatically start the sequencer. (You can manually start it by pressing play on the Crave)
      Also this way, you can use the ARP function on the Crave with the clock from the Arturia, if you want too. And it will be easier to assign a specific BPM if you like to experiment with doubled sequencers. (It's impossible to set a specific BPM for the Crave...)

    Hola Eric! Soy novato en el mundo de los sintetizadores y me estoy volviendo loco para conectar mi equipo. Te explico; tengo la caja de ritmos rd-8 y behringer crave con arturia keystep y no soy capaz de sincronizar ambos. Conecto por midi in el teclado a crave pero como conecto ahora la caja de ritmos? Gracias de antemano y espero que todo vaya bien!!

    • @music-with-eric
      @music-with-eric  2 роки тому +1

      Puedes tentar ligando el "sync out" del RD-8 al "sync in" del Keystep, y usar los "DIP switches" atrás del Keystep a seleccionar "Sync in". El RD-8 mandara su tiempo al Keystep e atraves al Crave. (Perdona mi espanol, mi portugues es mejor!)

    • @music-with-eric

      Tendrá que conectar el controlador y el Crave ambos en el computador vía USB, y mandar información MIDI mediante su DAW.

      I don't have a Gaia, but since it has MIDI DIN ports the process should be the same as I describe in this video. Be sure the Gaia and Crave are on the same MIDI channel; set the MIDI OUT from the one you want in charge to the MIDI IN of the other. You might also want to check out the final video in this series where the Crave is sending info to the Volca Bass.

    Hi Eric! Is the behringer crave similar to the behringer td3 bass line synth? Thanks

    • @music-with-eric
      @music-with-eric  Рік тому

      It's not really similar at all. The TD-3 has a very limited tone palette and range compared to the Crave's vast possibilities for modulation. Using the TD-3 sequencer is a much different experience as well. However, I really like the sound that the TD-3 makes, and how quickly you can get it to do what it's best known for - replicating the acid sounds of a 303 - but I often use it for non-squelchy sounds as well. The Crave can get close to that sound as well, plus do a great deal more.

    can we somehow play polyphonic notes with crave also, I am an absolute beginner will you recommend crave to me?

    • @music-with-eric
      @music-with-eric  2 роки тому +1

      Crave will only play one note at a time. There are ways to patch it that will *kind of* give you more than one note at a time, but more like two simultaneous sounds, and it's never going to work like a piano. For that you at least need a synth with a paraphonic mode, like the Neutron, or a true polyphonic synth like the Minilogue. If you don't know anything about synthesis yet, I'd suggest watching these videos to get a sense of how it all generally works, then experiment with some free VSTs. Crave is good because it's inexpensive and offers a lot of creative options with the patchbay, but its limitations could be more frustrating at first.

    I have a problem with my keystep and crave im in the correct MIDI Channel and when i press a key in the ks i get sound , but the arrpegiator and the sequencer dont work i dont know if a i need to change something in the crave synth tool app

    • @music-with-eric
      @music-with-eric  2 роки тому +1

      Forgive the obviousness of my reply, but are you sure that you've pressed play when trying to use the arpeggiator? If your Keystep is audibly triggering the Crave's pitches it is indeed hooked up correctly, so that's the only thing I can think of.

    My Midi keyboard has no Midi Output, only USB out. How do I connect it?

    • @music-with-eric
      @music-with-eric  2 роки тому +2

      You have two options. The first is to connect your keyboard to your computer via USB, and also the Crave to the computer via USB, then use a DAW or other program to route the MIDI data from the keyboard to the Crave. The second way is to get a small device called a USB to DIN converter (this is not the same as the common USB to MIDI DIN cable). This will take the USB input from your keyboard and send it out of a 5-pin MIDI DIN jack and into your Crave. This is the one I use: www.hobbytronics.co.uk/usb-midi-converter. For most people, I imagine the computer interface is the easier way to go.

      @Bruno Romero I know it's late, but there's a neat little program called miditrix that lets you route any MIDI device connected to your computer to any other, without having to start up your DAW all the time, if you just want to play and jam.

    Hello! Is it possible to control the parameters of the Behringer Crave from an external controller? How to do it? Thanks.

    • @music-with-eric
      @music-with-eric  Рік тому +1

      Crave doesn't have many MIDI-controllable parameters. It'll accept notes played on a keyboard, start and stop messages, and tempo sync, and that's about it. It is VERY analog!
