After posting this version we found another great performance (maybe even better). Now you can hear both in this one new video! Just click the video link below.
This is also done on Dean's show by Sid Caesar (to whom every comedy show on TV owes their existence and their style, the original sketch comedy man) -- because he did it on Broadway. Watch Sid and you can see where Red Skelton got his act. Dean Martin knew how much comedy and TV skits owed to Sid and it's great that he paid tribute to him. Sid had Your Show of Shows - with an amazing cast of writers and comics, including "Meathead's" dad, and one of the comics, Imogen Coca is where Carol Burnett got her act from. Jerry Lewis must have watched every show and memorized them.
On this day in 1965 {February 17th} Steve Alaimo performed "Real Live Girl" on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!'... One month later on March 6th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart for a two-week stay, peaking at #77 {Cannot find his version on You Tube}... The song was featured in the Neil Simon's 1962 Broadway musical "Little Me"... R.I.P. Mr. Martin {1917 - 1995}, Jimmy McNeill {1940 - 2013, Shindig's host}, and Mr. Alaimo celebrated his 73rd birthday this past December 6th...
Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast October 24, 2016 episode with Dana Gould brought me here too. 1 hour 17 minutes 40 seconds in they discuss the Dean Martin video.
I hated, that back then these dresses were so short on these little girls, why? I'm glad, my mom used to make my clothes. She didn't have my butt hanging out. I thought Dean, was good looking, and had a great voice. Being of victim of molestation, I didn't care for the video. I tried to watch, with an open mind. I was sent by someone on MR E's,channel on yt.
After I was molested, my mom watched me like a hawk. No, sitting on anymans lap, no staying overnights, no visiting people unless the whole family went. I couldn't go outside, and hang with my brothers and neighborhood boys. If, I acted like these girls, she'd have my dad whoop me real good. Once, sadly you been touched it's terrible cuz, it opens up alot of adult thoughts. I wished my thoughts could have stayed innocent. All my life, I was afraid of men, up until my middle twenties. I finally, dated than. Now, as an adult I'm very intuned to the vibes a molester gives. So people, watch over your little ones. God bless, y'all.
Priscilla Fuentes I’m sorry for what happened to you, and as the mother of a daughter (and also now a little granddaughter) myself, I’m sure my reaction would have been the same as your Mums if anything like that had ever happened to her. And of course we all know that paedophilia has always gone on, but I truly don’t feel that anything like that was going on here. Dean was a family man and by all accounts very protective of his own daughters, and I’m sure he would have been as sickened as any other decent man about that kind of behaviour. I know it’s the trend now amongst a certain section of society to condemn ALL men for the sick and deviant behaviour of a few, but in my experience most men, whatever their other faults might be, still feel that instinctive kindness and protectiveness towards little children.
There is no 'creep' factor with Dean Martin, not even a little bit. I agree that the dresses are ridiculously short, unless they have shorts or bloomers under them, but just from watching Dean I'd trust him with any child.
@@susantunbridge4612 From others clips like this where kids was use. Like on one Christmas special. The kids was his staff children and their parents was around the stage watching. Something tell me he was very protective of his kids too.
wmfivethree Don’t forget they were different times, when not every man was automatically regarded as a child abuser. It’s well known of course that Dean was something of a ladies man, but these were just little girls. Also, he had four young daughters of his own and, according to Deana’s biography, he was quite protective of them (advising them for example, when they first started dating, not to wear anything too revealing; “Don’t let them see what they can’t have”) And one of the reasons why he and Jeanie applied for custody of them was to protect them from some of the more sleazy characters that their mother, Betty (Deans first wife, who had become an alcoholic) often invited to her apparently rather wild parties, and to give them a more secure home life.
Linda Shelley Trivia: actually the reason they got the 4 kids from Betty was because she disappeared and neglected them. Her sister took them to Deans house and JEANNE decided to keep them because she couldn’t bare the thought of those kids alone(im assuming because she was a mother herself). Dean was hesitant at first but eventually gave in because Betty never came to collect them. And yeah....this was back when you could have wholesome heartwarming moments like this. I was hoping I didn’t see any pedo references but there ya go. Minds of today....
stop neglecting the message, go listen to something else if you have a problem with it, deano had his way of explaining his messages thru music., nothing of what you're saying makes sense because there isnt any justification., plus he was singing about his daughter aswell.
The great Dean Martin had a magical charm about him.Certainly the coolest entertainer of all time.
This video is happiness; a reminder of pure innocence...its such a shame how as we grow up, we loose that because of corruption.

"I'm simply drowned in the sight and the sound and the scent and THE FEEEEL of a real live girl."
Not creepy at all.
