    Hey Isaac, I'm a water treatment engineering student. Arsenic is very common in the natural environment but has SERIOUS health effects. I know its expensive, but having a reverse osmosis membrane filter system for your entire home would be much safer. Arsenic won't boil out so even cooking with arsenic contaminated water is a no-no. Arsenic can also be accumulated within plants, meaning that if you water a garden with arsenic contaminated water, or if there is arsenic in your soil (possible if you have arsenic in your ground water) some arsenic may be in your vegetable or fruit garden. Unfortunately there are only a few options that actually are effective at removing arsenic from water, reverse osmosis is your best bet.

      Is there anything you can do if there is arsenic in the ground water? Could they grow their food in a Hydroponic Growing System that is hooked up to a RO water system outside?

    • @rossallen738
      @rossallen738 9 місяців тому

      @@dragonflysky11 yes, a hydroponic system with the proper nutrients in the soil could definitely be used to grow safe food. RO systems do remove a lot of the natural nutrients in the water too, so it could be important to add some nutrients back to the water or be sure that there is plenty in the soil.

    Keep after it. You may want to check on the impact for when you begin growing a garden. Sounds like a long term project, but drinking water is handled for now! There are test kits you can get at your hardware store to check what you’re actually getting at the tap and then from your filtered lines. ✌️❤️💦

    Very Common for water to have arsenic in it. Even city water has arsenic in it. It's the level and the amount that matters. You should be all good now though. A whole system filtration device is expensive but they do work well. You can buy test kits. Test the water out of the tap after the undersink filter, and test your water after the water drop filter.

    Nice unit! Just be sure to keep filters under the sink changed out as needed! The sink water is still important for cooking and washing dishes. The counter top filter will be nice when camping as well as using at home! Years ago we visited my sister-in-law who was living in Chicago at the time. Their city water smelled horrible and tasted the same. My sister-in-law kept gallons of bottled water for cooking, drinking, and making tea/coffee. I've never in my life smelled such nasty water. I guess it was from the heavy chemicals used by the water department to treat the water that made it taste so bad. She even bought ice because the ice maker in her frig made your cold drinks taste bad. That was back in the 1980s, so it's probably improved by now.

    Great video Isaac always protecting your family like a good man taking care to think about these important things - looks like a cool unit too bad they didn’t have a hose tube connected to your water supply for easy no filling needed - glad you decided to make room for it near your fridge & sink area - looks much better there - also wondered what the wattage is to run it - would be a great camping item if it filters out that much stuff ? - I know it’s a big unit but worth encorporating it in as an important feature while in the back woods if you can draw water from other outdoor sources cause it would save not having to carry tons of water weight with ya on a trip a d saves the packing of plastic bottles - like you said starts to wear on our environment eventually
    - can’t wait to here how it works out - looks like a cool overlanding essential tool ❤🎉😊woohoo

The owner of the park was 91 years old and said he never had a problem with the water himself, all those years,😁 but he had installed reverse osmosis water filters in the mobile homes he owned and rented out. Another voice for a whole house system. We sold bought/sold a house with a whole house softener/filtration system (it was semi-rural OR). When we went to sell, the well was testing for iron bacteria six years after moving in. We had to make it right for the next owners which meant installing a UV filter on the system. Having filters at the point of use (all sinks, shower, dishwasher, laundry) will be costly and inconvenient. The system did not include our irrigation lines - but with arsenic, you may want to (or collect rain water), if you are gardening with it.

    Hi Isaac if you have Reverse Osmosis installed under your sink your water is safe for drinking & cooking you just have to make sure you always use the spout that uses water from the reverse osmosis filter.Also make sure you change the filters minimum of once a year. Unless I missed it, did you test the water quality coming from the filter that was mounted under the sink? Well water is a blessing but also a curse as you found out. Everyone I know that has well water, have a filter system between the well pump and house. They also have it tested every year or so to make sure all is good. Those test do show levels of all contaminates including arsenic. Another blessing is that a well eliminates the monthly water bill which will help pay for the cost of filtration. Good luck.

    I would definitely look into a whole home system. A couple thousand both worth the money as it relates to you and your family’s health.

    Issac make a pullout cart for the water drop. It will make it easier for you to fill it up.

    I had two different RO systems put in and both had tiny particles and greasy specks....both removed.......I decided bottle spring water is cheaper and doesn't have anything floating in it, we recycle so not going to landfill.....bottle water cost maybe $5 a month - $60 a year......filters cost more

      We don't buy 1 at a time....we don't buy jugs.... case is under $5....even if you bought 2 cases a month it is still cheaper then replacing filters......at least bottle water doesn't have tiny fibers and grease spots floating around in it@sagagsvczxbuc8q1tzxz

    We have a well too and have our water tested annually. We haven't had arsenic though other things. We use a reverse osmosis filter unti for our house and drinking water. Lately we've been using bottled spring water from Sparklets and really like it.

    I don’t trust any water given the runoff that occurs in this day & age - therefore I always use my Berkey for consumption. I take single use Berkey when away from home.
