Nice review dude. All the angles and normal lighting is what people trying to buy blind really need. Agree with all your opinions. I wasn't that high on these refs from the pictures, was WAY more stoked for the 143 and bought it blind. In hand the 151 is actually the winner.
Would love to see the rubber strap on the black Willard! Bracelet looks great, but I want as close as possible to the original, so it’s gotta’ be rubber!
Bugster987 thanks! I actually have several Uncle Seiko straps including his orange waffle, but it’s a bit thin for my preference. I tried on a SLA033 and the strap was perfection - real thick and chunky, just the way I like it. But it’s 19mm which would leave a 1mm gap on the SPB151. Tire tread strap on the SPB153 isn’t as cool as the waffle, but it looks chunky. Hopefully it will look good in person as I’m loving Seiko silicone these days
@@matthewchandler2647 I tried mine on a period correct rubber waffle strap and suddenly the watch felt cumbersome and uncomfortable, even a bit painful. Back on the bracelet and it's perfect again. Very strange I know. I can't figure it out.
I got a homage for 100 USD. And If I had the money I would buy this version, since it has a sapphire crystal and is domed, drilled lugs, you can then have very sturdy lug pins that is solid. The homage does not have drilled lugs, but a flat sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel inserr. And on the homage it could be a poor spring inside the bezel, some complained about beeing hard to turn after exposure for water. It has Seiko NH35, the difference I heard between inhouse and what they sell out to others is the coiled spring that stores the energy. I think it was something with a bit longer reserve and anti magnetic properties. If I really had the money I would buy the 4k USD version that I think Gran Seiko makes but without Gran in the name. I am very happy with mine homage, and would buy the real deal one day if I could.
I wonder how many “Captain Willard” reviews here are? And how much did Seiko pay Coppola for this product placement? Whatever it was, it was a great business decision.
@Richard DiLorenzo Seiko probably made less than Omega make out of James Bond. It may not have been intentional product placement, but more a case of an efficient knowledgeable props master. After all Seiko we know became favoured by soldiers in the Vietnam war so the fact that it was used in this film makes it an historically correct detail.
definitely not worth it! Bracelet integration and clasp quality is rubbish. Movement quality is very hit and miss as is the bezel/chapter ring alignment. Typically overpriced Seiko junk.
Great review. I have the green dial. Really good quality for the price.

Why do you prefer 151? 😏 For sure more comfortable with the cushion case

Matthew Chandler Uncle Seiko rubber straps are a good option. Waffle, chocolate bar or tire tread all look good.

I got a Chinese Tandorio Willard watch & it came with a nice rubber band
Great watch! Is the chapter ring black?
Had the black one since early July and it’s dominated wrist time since.
Im so close to pulling the trigger on this watch
The SLA049 would look perfect on your wrist

Bezel not aligned
