I was hoping this movie didn't have gore. I'll give it a chance but I will be peeping through my fingers
lets be honest the real Chris died a long time ago.

If I had a nickel for every time Chris has said in a Kristen Stewart movie review that her performance was his new favorite of hers, I could probably retire
She has only been in around 45 movies so that doesn’t even make sense. 5 times 45 is 225. Let’s say he has only mentioned it 45 times then you would only have $2.25. So your comment doesn’t make sense.

I just fucking love how Chris didn't give a flying fuck about the whole controversy about his take on the Madame Web movie and just keeps doing his videos like he has ever done: it's all about films, not social media drama. I love you Chris (since 2014).

Why is his Sony video where he mentions Madame Web controversial?
Fun Fact: For his character, Ed Harris originally wore very long hair extensions as a joke, but the director decided to keep them in the film.
That sounds like one of those stories you make up for the interview circuit.
That was a mistake…Riffraff did it better!…😑

@PalaceDude Nah if you actually listen you can still tell.
The way he described how he felt about the opening to this was how I felt about the opening to Iron Claw. I did not expect to enjoy that film as much as I did
I was actually planning on seeing Dune again, but I think I'm gonna give this a chance. Chris has this energy that's really infectious and I love that he keeps so much of the story untold and focuses on the actual filmmaking. Also the theater will probably be emptier than Dune's
he did the same thing for me with Longlegs! I got 2 minutes into his review and booked tickets shortly after
Kristen Stewart is honestly getting better in recent years and i respect her for that. She deserves movies like this to flex her muscles as an actress. That Oscar nomination for Spencer was just her beginning to improve, she will become a much more respectable actress in the future ❤
I´m still angry she didnt get that Oscar.
She can only play films when you don't need to use any facial expressions. She has like 1 emotion , it worked in Spencer but it doesn't work with everything

I saw this movie opening day back on March 8th in a super packed theater, and it was definitely a really fun and wild time. I think some things could’ve been handled better, but Katy O’Brian was hot as hell, Kristen Stewart continued to prove she’s an amazing actress who doesn’t deserve to be only remembered for Twilight, and I wasn’t expecting it to become a psychological horror akin to Black Swan in the second half of the movie. I’m definitely checking out Saint Maud now and can’t wait to see more movies from Rose Glass in the future.
The last 20 minutes of this was incredible in a packed theater with 90% lesbians. Whole room erupted, from laughter to gasps
I cannot freaking wait to see this movie! Everything about it gets me amped. Not to mention I love Kristen Stewart, and I love that she is actually a lesbian playing a lesbian role. Instead of a random actor acting. I hope this does well at the box office so we can get more movies like this. It looks very original. I’m so damn tired of comic book movies, remakes, large franchises, and extended universes.

It's wild you mentioned No Country because this entire film kept reminding me of experiencing it for the first time at the cinema in 07. And just like No Country, my only complaint is I could have used another hour runtime. Love Lies Bleeding is fantastic.
Saw it tonight...kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. Kristen Stewart has range...never would have thought she ever would grow as an actress.

Lisa Frankenstein is the latest movie I've seen that fits your question about a film not being able to live up to the promise of the opening, for me. I enjoyed the film alright, but the animated title sequence/backstory sequence was so well done and wonderfully stylized that I expected the rest to be at that level.
The ending was way too abrupt for me too
@@GrosvnerMcaffrey right?? It felt like there was a whole sequence missing!
The only time I've ever experienced a uniquely uproarious reaction in a movie theatre, and I'll always remember this, was Rob Roy. The scene where they've captured Liam Neeson and are walking him back to be hung, and then on the bridge he wraps his rope around Tim Roth's neck and jumps off the bridge. The theater went f*cking nuts. Full on cheering and clapping like I'd never seen before or since.
Another film with a great opening that I thought couldn't keep up was Lord of War.
Incredible opening credits

I just watched the film on Max and enjoyed it very much. I think Kristen Stewart performance is right up there with Spencer. Katy O'Bryan was amazing and surprisingly impressed with her character. Hey Chris, I don't know if you ever seen the movie, but have you ever seen Soft and Quiet.I seen others already talked about it, I didn't see it in any of your videos.
This movie just felt disjointed to me. No pun intended. Felt like the writer was on acid and it kicked in 3/4 in. I found it quite intriguing but the end sequence just didn’t feel like it fit. However I see your point. I feel like if this were a 90s movie I’d be exploding with joy over it. Absolutely obscure
Yeah like I can see the where the visuals come from and why scenes are portrayed the way they are but man the shift feels too abrupt
Absolutely loved the 80s aesthetic . Chris is right, was hooked from the opening shot and didnt disappoint . Need more movies set in the 80s- no internet or phones! Refreshing.

Snowfall also perfectly encapsulates LA in the 80’s
First time I saw the trailer I thought that was Zendaya + CGI
How?
I was totally engaged from the start by the cinematography from the beginning to the period placement which was absolutely perfect. If you know the eighties, it's done so well here (started typing it before you described that so eloquently). I just watched it and I don't think I'll ever see a movie like this again.
Lisa Frankenstein and Glow both placed in the 80's (just two recent shows/movies that I watched) and yet this felt authentic comparatively when the others had much more bigger budgets.

Absolutely, despite all the hatred that Kristen has been getting in the past few years for many reasons, it's nice to see someone like Chris just being honest, calm and chill talking about her based on the movie that he saw starring her. Kristen honestly deserves better especially after that Oscar nomination she got for Spencer

Just cast Katy O’Brian as Wonder Woman. I’m tired of WB /DC trying to convince us a model that weighs a buck o five is an Amazon
That ending.
That's all I'm gonna say.
Stop calling these reviews, they are just discussions since you can't even criticize anymore LoL
In my opinion, the ending wasn't a "I wanna make you think" it was a shock and awe move to substitute the lack of ending. The scene being referred to as the one everyone reacted to in the theatre is the problem with the movie. If you remove that scene, the movie simply doesn't have an end. If you add it, it makes the movie feel like there's more to it and makes you think about the scene rather than the ending itself.
To add, I didn't believe how they fell in love so quickly. To me it felt like they needed more time but they went from "hi" to "I'll do anything for you" in what felt like a few days or a week at most. Perhaps that's the intent but it really made me feel these characters had morals at the start, but immediately lost them and became unhinged so all I see is 2 mentally unstable people. The end result makes me feel like it's a Lesbian kink film with a very dark fantasy instead of film about 2 women in love.
That being said, that's really my only problem with the movie. The acting, set design, and cinematography are all amazing. I would definitely watch another movie made by her.
This movie was a weird one for me. I liked it over all and it has a great vibe. I believed the romance and the leads have chemistry but K.S. is doing that familiar Kristen Stewart acting so hard it took me out of the movie more than once. Also, the goofy deus ex magical realism ending does not fit what I want from a neo noir crime thriller. In fact, It would have been better if, instead of inexplicably growing into a twenty foot tall giant and holding the villain down, the body builder just beat him to death with her bare hands in a gory display. Then maybe K.S. calms her down, pulls her back from the edge and apologized for getting her hooked on steroids, something, anything but this weird cop out ending.
I liked the movie. I'm glad I watched it, but I can certainly see how people who paid to see this in theaters could be mad about this experimental, out-of-left-field ending
I guess Akira Toriyama's death is to negative for chris stuckmann to talk about.
