- Опубліковано 2 тра 2024
- The first semi final in the 2024 Investec Champions Cup will be played at Croke Park in Dublin this Saturday between hosts Leinster and visitors the Northampton Saints.
Both teams have won all of their games in this years competition. Yet if we look back over the past 10 games between the two sides, Leinster has a healthy lead of 9 wins to 1.
In this episode of Inside Rugby I take a look at both sides, give my prediction for the game and then ask you to give me yours.

Mark , we Irish hate being included in Uk ! We re the Republic of Ireland , neighbour to Uk , but separate country . Leinster play in ireland not Uk . Love your podcasts , keep it going ! Declan , Ireland
Hola Declan, yes I am totally aware of it, I just botched it when recording. My apologies, as always I never intend to offend anyone, especially my Irish friends.
@@markphilpottinsidesport no offence taken whatsoever Mark , it happens a lot and I guess little Ireland is often grouped in the British Isls and UK , for obvious reasons , we geographically very close . Love your podcasts Mark , always very interesting !
Thanks mate. ps. I lived in Europe for 15 year and visited your sunny isles on many many occasions, brilliant part of the world, in fact I was looking at houses for sale in County Cork last week.
@@markphilpottinsidesport looking for houses in Co. Cork! Now you’re making me jealous ☘
@@markphilpottinsidesport cork is incredibly beautiful and a great rugby county. You'll have no choice but to buy the munster jersey bai!
Croke park is something else. For those who havent witnessed a rugby game there...oh man...such a special place. Drooling for tomorrow.
Should be brilliant, enjoy and thanks for the comment
You Aussies often mistake us Irish for British.
Hola Conor, hope you enjoyed the rest of the video.
Great analysis. I’m a Leinster fan, as you have guessed by now. I will be there in the Hogan Stand feeling a lot less certain of the outcome. Saints are top club in the UK Premiership and not to be taken lightly. Keep the reviews/reports coming.
@ConorBofin enjoy the game and have a wonderful day in the Republic of Ireland tomorrow
He he he😂
Ha ha see what you did there 😅
Mark - we love your videos - but Ireland is not in the UK. Partly due to what happened in Croke Park
Jimbo got it mate, what I meant to say was the UK and Ireland. Apologies.
Yep I'm there tomorrow..SO excited. Love Northampton's style of play and have been deeply impressed by Fin Smith....such maturity! But I am hoping our forwards are all over their forwards like a rash and think if we are then we will win for sure. But anything can happen and hope both sides play to their best.
CMON LEINSTER!
Kerry, have a fantastic time and enjoy what will be a very special occasion.
Love your vids Mark but be careful with your definition of the UK 🫣
Sure thing, I meant to say UK and Ireland OF COURSE.......Enjoy
@@markphilpottinsidesport for sure my man, good to get it clarified in the comments 🫡😉
On it.
Agree with your excellent analysis Mark. Living overseas for many years, last time I was in Croke Park, it was also a sellout for a U2 concert! Coincidentally, I'll be in the U2 Irish pub in Istanbul, Turkey, watching the game live !
Bonza Brian, good on you, thanks for the comment and enjoy the games this weekend
Bagged a ticket. Can’t wait!
Lucky, lucky man, enjoy it.
Its simple really. An English team is playing an Irish team in a stadium which is intrinsic to the Irish identity and where Irish civilians were murdered by British troops. I expect a huge Leinster performance.
That I feel as well, cant see anything other than a Leinster win. Enjoy
I'm going to the game tomorrow. Sooo looking forward to this game.
Brilliant, have a great time, enjoy it and savior every minute, it is sure to be special.
Congratulations to Leinster I predicted a close game . Semi finals are harder to win than finals Leister did tire a bit & now have a lot of injuries & a lot more to do . All the best in the final . Great win in the end . A sell out Crime Park did help to keep the visitors quiet , well done to the fans they did there part .
Northampton have no option but to slow down the Leinster ball at the breakdown. The loss of Lewis Ludlum to injury is a real blow in that regard. But, Courtney Lawes has the ability to throw a spanner in the works if he can lead his pack the way he did against Munster in Thomond Park. The Saints have a chance if they can keep the score line down.
Great comment thanks for making it, and some good points, and thats where I think the saints will struggle keeping Leinster's score down. Enjoy the game.
Great analysis as usual, Mark. Dont worry about the comments about Irish and not being in the UK. You're forgiven 😂. Keep up the great work. Ill pass on your channel to some mates.
Thanks so much Paul, appreciate you and your mates.
People make that mistake ALL the time so we're well used to it. Especially when you go abroad. You're only human mark!
This seasons Northampton and last season Northampton are two very different Teams. Huge improvement over last season.
Thanks for the comment, I guess we will see tomorrow. I do agree with you but I do think this Leinster team is a level above
@@markphilpottinsidesport Since Jacques Nienaber joined Leinster, I could see their defence improvement and it showed since Christmas.
@limerickman8512 Great point, and I see this as an area that will be very key tomorrow. How can the Saints score 30+ against this Leinster defense, I don't think they can. Thank you for the comment
Yes they were mighty against Munster down in Thomand park...SO impressive.
Rugby is not often played in Croke park, the stadium is owned by the Gaelic athletic association who promote the traditional sports of the country Gaelic football ,hurling,Gaelic rounders and gaelic handball, but mostly Gaelic football and hurling both of which fill it at least once a year for the finals, rounders is not really played there as the fan base doesn't really justify it but its a vibrant and enthusiiastically played sport and Handball has its own stadium next to croke park not very big of course as the court is small.
its every irish sportspersons dream to play their however if you are a rugby player the last time was in 2009 and many players have retired so the leinster players will be very pumped and as the AVIVA holds only 51000 its a chance to experience a much larger.
You made an unfortunate faux pas however others have mentioned that i am just giving a bit of context as to why its a big deal that others have not mentioned
@Joseph13163 thank you for your respectful comment, much appreciated. Here's one for you. When growing up as a wee kid in NZ my Dad and I used to watch Gaelic Football on TV, I remember the likes of Paidi O Se and Jack O Shea....amazing they showed it on NZ TV but they did.
@@markphilpottinsidesport Its the same in the Uk sometimes they show it and sometimes not,but the GAA have an agreement with the BBC to show the football final in all of the Uk whereas normally they only show it Northern Ireland only when northern teams were involved.
nice one Mark...enjoy!
Thank you, likewise.
Great analysis Mark
Thank you, appreciate it.
Good stuf Mark, bitte Please dont say we are arw in the UK,we are lreland, not Scotland, Not NI.not Wales and the English,We are lreland,God save Ireland.👍💪but we love The Kiwis here in lreland🍺
Mate, please see ALL of my other apologies in the comments, I know, just a slip up, us Kiwis make them from time to time. aka RWC Final 2023 :-)
@markphilpottinsidesport it's to late you'll never be forgiven for such a fxxk up
@@markphilpottinsidesport🇮🇪🙏
12:46 me and my son will be there. I can't wait. I'm just waiting to see if my baseball game is cancelled or not.
I think it's going to be a close game hard faught out.
Hope you get a long to see it, if you do have a fantastic day.
@markphilpottinsidesport cheer mark. I'll be 💯% there. Game was cancelled so now i dont have to rush 😁
It’s Jordan Larmour on the wing for Leinster Mark.. with an L 😊
Thanks mate
Hi Mark
How can you say how good ruby is so good in the Uk Leinster in is in the Ireland 🇮🇪 It’s like me saying you come from Australia 🇦🇺 we really take exception to the lack of you geography knowledge , Please take that statement back it’s very offensive to Irish people
Mate, as I have said a million times I am sorry I made a slip up. I know perfectly well Ireland is a republic and stands alone outside the UK. Jeez I live in Belgium for 15 years and visited Ireland many, many times. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video about rugby. Have a good weekend.
That should be larmour mark
There you go, thanks
Think it won't be good for leister way they played so bad in Africa and inelastic 5 games mistakes and o. Soul I can't all fhis saints plenty vMe time worry for leister by 5 points
Thanks so much for your prediction
Great video Mark, very informitave
Thank you Anthony. Enjoy the rugby this weekend
come on man Ireland is not part of UK, some basic knowledge would be nice. Was a fan but I think ill skip this channel from now on.
@acidreign6 Thanks for being a fan as long as you were, appreciate it.
C’mon Northampton
There you go, thanks for the comment
Oscar you from Munster?
Ha ha
Up in the attic looking for your old 2011 Northampton Jersey. Maybe one day munster will be in contention again 😂😂 but I doubt it.
My wife and I will be there decked out in blue🫡
Brilliant.....Auckland Blues colors? :-)
Love your content Mark but Ireland is not part of the UK, cheers mate .
Niall, as I know.....thanks mate have a great weekend
