You got to eat Xiang Kee Fried Mee Hoon Mee Nasi Lemak at Aljunied. The nasi lemak sells out quite fast, open only in the morning on some days and they pretty much always have a long queue. The nasi lemak is sedap/10 and their fried mee hoon is probably the best in singapore. Its literally a hidden gem, not many people know it outside of folks that live in the area and I've been eating it for over 20 years growing up.
Just to note. Although darkening of chicken bone = 99.9% frozen chicken, NO darkening of the chicken bone does not mean that the chicken has never been frozen. There are many factors. Age of chicken, length of time of being in frozen state, how its frozen, diet of chicken, how the chicken is cooked and many more where the chicken farmers/producers will have more in-depth understanding of. All I am saying is, no darkening of bone does not mean it is never-frozen, or what most people call fresh chicken. There are plenty of articles talking about black bone syndrome and I have experience dealing with frozen chicken that does not have black bones.
Hi Alderic. If you are planning to try the Ponggol Nasi Lemak, I'd suggest trying the branch @Jalan Besar as their sides are fried fresh and the outlet is air conditioned.
@@Alderic. Even b4 evening the queue is long. Turn over is pretty fast but sometime their fried chicken might not be fast enough. Can request to wait for a few min for the chicken to be done
Quite hard for a take away joint to be totally consistent but to be fair to Dickson, my order of boneless chicken thigh was crispy. Don't forget to try our Bib gourmand pride : Nasi Lemak Taliwang (Try the one at North Bridge Road with the SIGNATURES name to it)
You are right on the sotong, that is cuttlefish, not sotong. And you are also right on the word Rempah. It is Spiced Fried Chicken. Well done! Your malay is improving. And you are also using your hands which is the best way to eat.
I know of two other places in Singapore which aspire to the Village Park style too. Uptown Nasi Lemak at Telok Ayer and Wild Coco at Lavender. I love Wild Coco. Both beat Dickson hands down
There’s this Chinese style nasi lemak at Bukit Batok that’s good as well! It’s at the coffeeshop where you had your 2 Hokkien mee series! Can’t recall the name of the shop but it’s the one where you had your first Hokkien mee during that opposite. Just 1 or 2 stalls beside the Hokkien mee! Go try it :)
It might be good to explain to those watching who are not from this part of the world why you are eating with your hands, and also the correct way to do it?
Hi Alderic. If I recall correctly, squid, cuttlefish and octopus are all "sotong" in Malay/Indonesian: sotong biasa, sotong katak, sotong kurita, respectively. Indonesians also call the squid "cumi cumi".
Malays call them all by a short name “sotong”. There are actually sotong torak, sotong kurita, sotong cumin, sotong jarum… different sotong type for different dishes.
Will be looking forward to the next episode! My opinion on dickson is similar to yours, will go down to try pak mandor soon. Also laifaba was amazing thanks for the recommendation👍hougang fried oyster next
if they manage to get dine-in option during last episodes timing maybe you can go to re-review it. I agree with the verdict, everything is good but nasi lemak and fried chicken just works so much better when it is hot and freshly served instead of dabao version
Nice one Bro. I usually don’t comment on youtube videos unless the reason is really pressing and when you mentioned best nasi lemak in the world, I couldn’t hold back. Try Kam’s Nasi lemak @G tower, Jalan Tun Razak, KL The Nasi lemak ayam berempah is amazing 🎉. Please try and let me know your thoughts 🙏🏾
this cuttlefish is called 'sotong kembang' because it's made from a dried cuttlefish that has been soak to rehydrate. we also call squid as sotong and octopus as sotong kurita.
Price point is pretty steep no? For just nasi lemak, i dont think i saw anything extra or out of the ordinary. Can only imagine the disappointment when you got cold food 😢 took a second look at the menu, and boy it really seems quite expensive for nasi lemak, and an additional 0.8c for fried egg instead of boiled seems wild unless im mistaken about something.
I think it would be very hard for chicken to be crispy after it is packaged rather than being eaten in the restaurant. I chose to takeaway the nasi lemak at village park before and ate right in front of the restaurant as it is too packed. Even though I ate it 2 minutes after it was packaged, it had already turned soft
i tried almost all the famous nasi lemaks in sg. I think for malay style should be international from changi village and chinese style one is fong seng. Side note: coconut club is terrible and super expensive. Please dont waste your money on it
You should definitely try Bonding Kitchen Orchard Singapore Restaurant!! They have the best ever nasi lemak in Singapore. I hope you try it in your next Nasi Lemak video. I’m also a huge fan of your channel by your Hokkien mee series, steak series and especially your series before the nasi lemak series which is the Ramen Series. Thank you for supporting your supporters and hope you will have an amazing day having Nasi lemak.
would not recommend adding nasi uduk, it would just make the comparison harder. there are enough nasi lemak places in sg and malaysia to make a whole series, no?
Ponggol Nasi Lemak! There’s also a place called Aliff Nasi Lemak at Serangoon gardens I think you MIGHT think Is worth trying, they use basmati rice and chicken + sambal taste not bad. Not an intense sambal but enough to complement the rice well
Lol crazy lah at that price point. Anyway I went Pak Mandor their chicken is actually quite freshly fried given that their turn over rate is quite high. Rice was at the first too hot so pretty soggy only became nicer towards the end. Sambal was unimpressive it is sweet more than spicy. Anw if you are into indo nasi lemak should really consider nasi ayam taliwang (yishun park) I think peak hour one nicer.
you probably get this rec a lot but village park nasi lemak in KL . hands down best nasi lemak a closer one in sg would be the coconut club but the its super expensive
The best nasi lemak is not with fried chicken. It should be with ikan bilis, crispy ikan kuning with nice coconut milk rice and just enough chilli sambal. Too much chilli, takes away the flavour of the food.
Seems like the Dickson nasi lemak isn’t consistent with its standard. Fried chicken not crispy and cold cuttlefish …and it’s charging a premium for takeaway food.. that’s a no for me. Chong pang nasi lemak, Punggol nasi lemak and crave perform much better even when dabao
considering the price point, freshly prepared or at the very least, hot items should be the bare minimum
Good morning, sending love from Mexico. My dream is to one day visit Singapore and eat as much food as humanely possible.
😂😂 that's cute haha alot of cuisine located densely here I think you can do it 😅
Singaporean here. Was just in Mexico City last December and loved every bit of it
I love both the Mexican food and some Texmex food.
Coconut valley has hands down the best Nasi lemak. Ayam Berempah, Ayam rendang
Love that you're using yr hand to eat. Haha.. Small gestures just earned you a fan. 😍
Village park selling similar set at 12.50.... ringgit
Even my house downstairs nasi lemak have everything piping hot lol
Reviewing a pack of nasi lemak along the beach. I love his 'job'!
2nd best in petaling jaya is Botak NAsi LEmak @13, Jalan 3/37 Taman Universiti, Petaling Jaya.
looking forward following this series! your pronunciation of Nasi Uduk is good!
Village Park probably be ranked no 1 by the end of the serie😊
You got to eat Xiang Kee Fried Mee Hoon Mee Nasi Lemak at Aljunied.

I really appreciate the info man. always learning something from your comments.
Hi Alderic. If you are planning to try the Ponggol Nasi Lemak, I'd suggest trying the branch @Jalan Besar as their sides are fried fresh and the outlet is air conditioned.
yup I read that the Jalan Besar outlet is their new flagship outlet although I think the kovan one is more popular.
@@Alderic. Even b4 evening the queue is long. Turn over is pretty fast but sometime their fried chicken might not be fast enough. Can request to wait for a few min for the chicken to be done
Alderic - would recommend LA EAT in Cheung Chau in Hong Kong. It was my slice of heaven when I was living in HK. Aaron the owner is awesome!
What is the video editing software you use ?
i recommend going to a malay household to try nasi lemak homemade, it doesn't get better than that.
Nasi Lemak Tanglin @Kompleks Makan Tanglin. Kuala lumpur. THE CHILLI 🌶️ Yummmmmmmmsss
Eating with hands to savour the taste! Respect!
I recommend Nasi Kukus and the 1$ nasilemak u find in Malaysia, every store in Malaysia does it so well it can't go wrong
Wait what, Nasi Lemak for only $1 ?
La Pona Nasi lemak pls 😢
Coconut Valley - Best Nasi Lemak EVER
You made me look for Nasi Lemak at 12 am. Gj bro haha. Btw I think the 3 Prime Minister one is....Nasi Lemak..V.P..😝 love the videos !!
can you try those nasi lemaks at the mrt stations for comparison
You can try Botak Nasi Lemak located at 13, Jalan SS 3/37, Taman Universiti, PJ Selangor Malaysia which in my opinion is better than Village Park.

Sotong is cuttlefish in Malay. Do visit Brunei for nasi lemak too
I know of two other places in Singapore which aspire to the Village Park style too. Uptown Nasi Lemak at Telok Ayer and Wild Coco at Lavender. I love Wild Coco. Both beat Dickson hands down
Try La Pona Nasi Lemak at Orchard Plaza. Family-run for many years, but they only open at 10pm onwards for the late night crowd.
sian liao, next few days confirm long queue.
There’s this Chinese style nasi lemak at Bukit Batok that’s good as well!

Mr and Mrs Nasi Lemak might be worth a review
Dickson is nothing compared to the actual Village Park Nasi Lemak in KL. Even when it's ordered via delivery, it is still fantastic.
yes in malay, we use sotong interchangeably for squid, cuttlefish and octopus! :D
Hi Alderic. If I recall correctly, squid, cuttlefish and octopus are all "sotong" in Malay/Indonesian: sotong biasa, sotong katak, sotong kurita, respectively. Indonesians also call the squid "cumi cumi".
that 12.54 sgd nasi lemak could get you like 6 portion here in Indonesia 😂
Also try nasi lemak club. Is it worth the $$?
Pls try Funtastic Nasi Lemak at Jurong West Hawker Centre (#02-04). Pls try in when it is freshly make at 11am
2:35 Hey, eating outside at the beach is not bad at all!
Waiting for the pink nasi kangkang by xiaxue.
Which hawker center do you recommend! I am here for 5 days 😅 love your videos @alderic
Old airport road, Chinatown complex and golden mile food centre are probably amongst the most prolific ones! Thank you!
if they manage to get dine-in option during last episodes timing maybe you can go to re-review it. I agree with the verdict, everything is good but nasi lemak and fried chicken just works so much better when it is hot and freshly served instead of dabao version
Now that you mention it, it is hard to get hot/warm nasi lemak in Singapore.
Nice one Bro. I usually don’t comment on youtube videos unless the reason is really pressing and when you mentioned best nasi lemak in the world, I couldn’t hold back.
Try Kam’s Nasi lemak @G tower, Jalan Tun Razak, KL
The Nasi lemak ayam berempah is amazing 🎉. Please try and let me know your thoughts 🙏🏾
this cuttlefish is called 'sotong kembang' because it's made from a dried cuttlefish that has been soak to rehydrate. we also call squid as sotong and octopus as sotong kurita.
wild coco and coconut club has to be featured
actually, the steamed fish behind you taste better than nasi lemak :D
Noted for the 'Steamed Fish' series 😆
@@Alderic. Finally some healthy series 😓
@@Alderic.haha please do a fish soup series ❤

Punggol nasi lemak Katong and coconut club!
Bali nasi lemak?
it's great to eat with hands! ❤
Wow alderic. seeing you eating the first nasi lemak with your hands felt bizarre but cool.
Try the nasi lemak from jolibee. Much better than chong pang nasi lemak
Actually this is quite good :) , but they a bit sia lan...
oh is it? they were quite smiley to me, maybe cause I went it's almost pk time.
We shall patiently wait for that Village Park Nasi Lemak episode
Can go try NALE - The Nasi Lemak Company? Heard say is the most expensive one in KL 😂
PLEASE TRY WILD COCO, IT'S AWESOME
Just ate but getting hungry again🤤
You should try the Nasi Lemak Berempah by Spicy Wife at Amoy then!
i tried almost all the famous nasi lemaks in sg. I think for malay style should be international from changi village and chinese style one is fong seng. Side note: coconut club is terrible and super expensive. Please dont waste your money on it
Not sure if alderic low key hinting he got depression or what HAHAHA btw recommend nasilemak ayam taliwang from yishun park!
pretty high key at this point.
Then it's time to gym more *wink wink*
actually you should try ayam taliwang idk if it counts as nasilemak but should give it a try!! very nice original store at yishun park hawker.
Actually kind to think of it. Can actually got kovan the tam chiak coffee one and have ponggol nasi lemak as well. One stone 2 birds.
That's my life :( what we make up for in talent, we make up for in hunger.
Spicy wife have the same type of chicken, you should try it
The closest to indonesia nasi lemak is international nasi lemak at changi village. Only for the rice.
Hey! You went Dickson like I recommended in your previous video!
You should definitely try Bonding Kitchen Orchard Singapore Restaurant!! They have the best ever nasi lemak in Singapore. I hope you try it in your next Nasi Lemak video.

Istanbul Nasi lemak in Tampines
yeah i hate when i buy a set meal and the portion is not enough
would not recommend adding nasi uduk, it would just make the comparison harder. there are enough nasi lemak places in sg and malaysia to make a whole series, no?
Nasi Lemak Kukus is not bad but i have not been there for a long time
Changi village nasi lemak
Ponggol Nasi Lemak!
There’s also a place called
Aliff Nasi Lemak at Serangoon gardens I think you MIGHT think Is worth trying, they use basmati rice and chicken + sambal taste not bad. Not an intense sambal but enough to complement the rice well
KFC or Jollibee Msia is the only thing I can think of.

Penang: ali nasi lemak and pang hainan nasi lemak
While you’re here, try no. 5 seafood char koay teow with a chung ling egg
Bali Nasi Lemak
Try Punggol nasi lemak at upper Serangoon
They are closed on Wednesdays.
Spicy wife nasi lemak at Amoy market, big fat chicken waiting for you to gobble down!
$12 for a takeaway nasi lemak...... lol.
2 plates for cold food and high pricing is very generous. I was expecting a 1 plate rating lol
Sotong/cuttlefish cannot be kept warm because if overcooked, it wlll be rubbery.
Will you be going back for the Rendang Ayam?
Omg, $10+ for nasi lemak.. the cost of living really has gone off the roof. 😢
COCONUT CLUB NASI LEMAK
Chong Pang Nasi Lemak
Punggol Nasi Lemak
Coconut Club
My suggestions 🎉🎉🎉
taliwang
Try Punggol Nasi Lemak :D I was in Singapore a while ago and a friend brought me try to it, it was really good.
Husk Nasi Lemak! Please keep it a secret, thanks
Not sure whether u want to give away BEST freely. Chilli should be sweet n spicy. Rice should be nutty and whole grain.
you probably get this rec a lot but village park nasi lemak in KL . hands down best nasi lemak
a closer one in sg would be the coconut club but the its super expensive
The best nasi lemak is not with fried chicken. It should be with ikan bilis, crispy ikan kuning with nice coconut milk rice and just enough chilli sambal. Too much chilli, takes away the flavour of the food.
Uptown nasi lemak is similar to this and cheaper
Pls don't say the best Nasi Lemak.. If not later our neighbor will be very angry.. You should said best in sg.. 🤣
😂 marinated fried chicken of the ayam berempah? Not! Cause it looks too white in the flesh.. if it's well marinated the flesh should be red or colored
Same, I can take lower tier Chong pang nasi lemak anytime since it’s cheaper and I can get a lot more out from 12 dollars
I love Chong lang nasi lemak. Lots of ingredients to choose from
