They should have used a wrecking crane with a hydraulic claw on it. They could have brought the hole face of that building down in 15 minutes. Poor choice of equipment.
Prob had a low budget for the job......and a long time limit to complete the job Prob did have a new operator or thy were learning the new equipment This is common.
It's what you can't see that makes it dangerous and out dated .imagine the amount of people in and out of there and the structure being old and not sound .any sighn that it could hurt someone isn't worth keeping it repairs can cost more or as much as new
Building had to be demolished. You can just see it was dangerous and almost ready to cave in on itself. A gentle breeze could have knocked it all down.
+20PINKluvr Well, it depend's. Wrecking balling means weaking building's structure first and than having it collapse with a last few strokes on supporting elements. The weaking process look's not very efficient because nothing dramatical happens. But then... down goes the building. Because of the safe distance of the rope excavator and only the ball contacting the building large parts or even the entire building may collapse without putting machine and operator to risk. Tearing down a house with a modern demolition excavator is chosen, when you want to take it down in a controlled manner from roof to bottom. Blasting isn't always an option and if it was: don't forget the long-lasting process of prepping the building with explosives. The is easily taking weeks if not monthes. Just the Bang! doesn't count :-)
This guy sucks at using the wrecking ball!
I would of done the bricks first, with much greater force
Legend has it that to this day they are still trying to take down this building
I think this is the first time for this engineer to do this work with a wreckingball.

Yep
wrecking balls take forever to do anything you can just rip the whole face off with the CLAWS OF DEATH
old technology and too slow
Jeez, it's gonna take weeks with that useless wrecking ball!
Wow....at that rate it's going to take years to demolish the building! I bet the operator is getting paid by the hour too!
what kind of building is being demolished ? warehouse or factory please tell me
please tell me what kind of building is being demolished ? warehouse or shopping center
its now 2018. is it done yet?
No, they are still tickling those bricks with the wrecking ball. lol
I hope this was a ceremonial display, and not actually how they are demoing it! Lord they are probably still there today
5/1/2019 and I heard guys finally broke in the front door
Ok one year later is anything down yet..??.I bet old man Macy is not very happy...
Seems like a very slow way to take down a building. Get the CLAW machine...
Not a terribly efficient way of doing it, is it?
And why not have a team of guys go in with sledgehammers
This is Boring I shouldn't Stick with Miley Cirus Song Instead
did they run out of dynamite or something?
another technique with the ball is to dump it through the roof and let the building fall on itself..
Prob had a low budget for the job......and a long time limit to complete the job
Prob did have a new operator or thy were learning the new equipment
This is common.
just use a excavator be quicker
What is this amateur hour?
Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason on how this is being done? Looks like fun though.
I'd rather use an excavator with a wrecking ball than an old cable crane, it takes a long time for momentum to build up on those suckers.
Addy Pr An excavator with a ball wouldn't work as well. You can't come in from over head and drop, can't swing out as far.
Hey Beavis.....let's go.....break something :)
Lol
Slow way to bring down a building
6 years later...and only half of the building is down..lol
The wrecking ball is too small really. The building looks nice why knock it down??
It was over 50 years old and closed. Besides, the mall was (and still is) under renvoation
they should have started with Orange Julius
Out with the old and in with the new. Question is..what's the new Hilton gonna do to the Hilton Garden at 9th and Carnegie?
I'm excited they still use wrecking balls. It's so much fun to watch demolition with them.
Man the memories at parmatown mall
I honestly don't see anything wrong with the building at all.
It's what you can't see that makes it dangerous and out dated .imagine the amount of people in and out of there and the structure being old and not sound .any sighn that it could hurt someone isn't worth keeping it repairs can cost more or as much as new
Best viewed at double speed....
Think the crane operator needs caffeine
If this operator was any slower, he’d have to back up!
Put some swing into it hit a the bottom out just let gravity do the work bringing the rest down
by spring he will still be at it
Seems like it was the crane operators first day
looks like its going to take a long time, what a tiny wreckin ball
Tiny Wrecking Ball????? 😞
USED THE BIGGEST WRECKING BALL 😎
0:29 okay this may take a minute- guys with cameras
Seems really slow and inefficient
He must be getting paid by the hour. At this rate, that one job can put his kids through college and him in retirement.
this would have been quicker if they used demo experts and blew this shit to the ground.
Building had to be demolished. You can just see it was dangerous and almost ready to cave in on itself. A gentle breeze could have knocked it all down.
this taking forever to take down they have the claw excavator thats faster he wil chomp it down quick
Why destroy good buildings give it to law enforcement or other agencies and put it for a better use. After all its our assets.
can tell why wrecking balls arent used often in demolitions anymore. not efficient

I will build a new one faster than he breaks it down. Only with my two hands... Very boring.
I just skipped ahead to the comments. I was right, nothing to see.
Wrong application
Ole chuck norris would have tumbled 1 wall of that building with his fist
Another incompetent crane operator.
I hear hes still on the job 😂
Dont ever hire this outfit, joke!!!!
What a joke. may as well use a broom stick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bet he got paid by the hour!!!
That sucked
