Anyone have a Bible Study or devotional that they recommend for young teens?
We really like Not Consumed for family Bible studies. They have workbooks for 3 different age levels, plus a parent guide. I don't have teens yet tho!
Thanks!
I like not consumed too! We also use a printable walk through the Bible by The Bible Recap. She has a printable daily reading list, along with the Bible app (free) you can watch videos that preview the Bible chapters, highly recommend! Then you can listen to her podcast that correlates to each days reading. Very helpful and my 7th grader loves it. She also has a study guide, and her podcast is ok book form of you want to limit internet use. She has a New Testament or an old and new plan. You can grab all her books and materials on Christianbook.com or search the web for The Bible Recap by Tara Leigh Cobble. It’s been a huge help for me and my older kiddos. The videos are great to watch as a family, they are almost animated, very helpful for visual learners!
This sounds confusing, but it’s not! You can do all physical materials or blend them or all audio, or whatever. My child likes to have the Bible app read it to her, while she follows along. It helps with the pronouncing of names and areas. The Bible Project is on YT if you want to check out some of their videos.
Also wanted to add Apologias WhoIsGod series! Just the textbook is needed, and it is very well done. Or try Kay Mcarthurs books.
About to homeschool my 7th grade daughter - I needed this video !! And I look forward to that "I did it!" coffee! 😅
I think that is INCREDIBLE that he asked for more help! How self aware:)
Yes it was a proud mama moment for sure!
Excellent video thank you so much. It's obvious that you guys are doing the work. You speak without hesitation about your son's experiences and challenges and it feels like a very genuine report. You are problem solving collaboratively (beautiful!) which speaks to your openness with and respect for him. Too often I feel uncomfortable watching curricula videos because I am not sure they portray the family's actual experience. Regardless I love your genuine interest in your kids' success. Well done! I appreciate your integrity very much. Thanks for the guidance for visual learners too. Super helpful
We used Fix It as a family subject this year. We made it a simple game. Kids took turns being the reader for the day then guessing the vocabulary words. If you get the exact wording of the definition, 10 points. Then look over the sentence quietly for a few minutes and label the parts of speech, indention, etc. Then we took turns identifying all of the mark ups. If you answer your turn correctly, 1 point. If you miss and your sibling guesses it correctly, 2 points for them. End of the week winner gets bragging rights. They have had fun and learned so much!!
That’s a great idea!
I would have never thought of using individual DVD players! We also are super strict about our kiddos being online and I would much prefer using DVDs. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I'm loving your coffee cup ;-)
I just came across your channel. Loving the content, being a new homeschool mom. Also noticed the mug, Gilmore Girls.....YES!!!!! LOVE THAT SHOW!! Have the same mug!!
Seriously one of the best shows of all time!
@@EverydayHomeschooler couldn't agree more!!
Our favorite bible study has been Our 24 Family Ways! It has been so wonderful!!
I never sit through an entire homeschool review, but you had me at disclaimer, " My son is a visual learner." This is my son too, so I was beyond excited to watch it from beginning to end! I really enjoyed your video!
Aw thank you so much!
We use the curriculum “My Fathers World” and last year (my sons 6th grade year) they offered a book called “Boy have I got problems” my son (now in 7th grade) is still working through it.
It focuses on the Book of James and helps teach basic skills of Bible study and prepares children for a lifetime of discovering Gods Word.
This year (7th grade ) he started a book called “A young person’s guide to knowing God”
These are two books I suggest looking into for your teenage son.
I love the coffee mug!! I’m a long time GG fan.
Hello I’m new here since this video is a year old I’m guessing you found a Bible study book I’m wondering what you went with? I have a 7th grader, you where suggested on my UA-cam, I’m so glad they did. I’m excited to watch more videos. Thank you
Hi! We used youth studies from Not Consumed and loved them!
@@EverydayHomeschooler thank you for replying 🙏
We stopped at negative numbers because my 7th grader was like “huh?” , so we will just pick back up and try again! Good to hear that about your son, it’s not just us! Lol
Will the DVD player play audio CDs too? Like the phonetic zoo spelling cd?
You are definitely not alone. Pre-algebra is quite the step up!!!
Just wanted to update this. We ended up getting Math Mammoths Integers unit and it’s working wonderfully! Just what we needed. After this unit we will head into pre algebra :)
Thank you much for your video. It brought me some actually ALOT of guidance. Is our first year back at homeschooling and I will definitely use the Math program. Loved is based on progress and not on grade! In addition to the DVD availability since we live out in the country and our internet is not reliable... Also the Narnia book! My 7tg grader doesn't enjoy English/Writing but he loves Narnia so I'm sure that will help !! Thanks again
Nice review 🍎
Love how you can set the pace with the curriculum
Great job! ☕️
Thanks!
This is my first year homeschooling and my eldest, Noah is in 7th grade. Thanks for this video!
My oldest son’s name is Noah too!
We are headed to 7th grade for my two oldest (twins) this was so helpful! Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching!
Hi! I enjoyed your video. Did you end up making a video on your son’s scheduler/planner and how you use them in your homeschool? I searched your channel but didn't see it. Thank you!
It will be coming out in the next few weeks - stay tuned!
@Everyday Homeschooler
How do approach, if you have experienced, your child saying they want to go to public school instead of homeschool?
Those 1st born guinea pigs can be so mature at times, can't they!?
I know! right?!?
That’s awesome that he knew he needed a little more help in Math.
Yes! Thanks so much for watching and commenting Ashlea!
Thank you!
We loved Evan-Moor spelling! Unfortunately, it only goes to grade 6 so we are actually moving into Spelling Workout next year. Hopefully we have better luck with it!
Yes Evan-Moor has been great!
I know this is a year old, but what did you use for Science?
This past year we used Berean Builders Earth Science and loved it!
