Unless more hostile feeding competition starts with newcomers, this is probably the safest chance to swim with stuffed and satisfied sharks, not looking for a human taste experiment.

Okay, this managed to aggravate me, and I wasn't even in the water. I can only imagine what it could've been like for the shark. Yeah, we know in this age that sharks aren't the killing machines that people used to believe they were, but they are still wild animals. Almost any animal surrounded by this many people constantly touching it is likely to get a little agitated, or worse, feel threatened. And we all know that a situation with an agitated or threatened animal can turn bad quickly. You can love the animal, but respect it's personal space too.

That's not Deep Blue IMO....that is another massive female who apparently has been named "Haole Girl".
Deep Blue was seen and photographed at the same location, but on a different day.
You can see this by the fact that the real "DEEP BLUE" has two large black markings on her white underside....the smaller one, under her "chin" and a second, much larger one, on her belly, located between her two pectoral fins.
As you can see, this big girl has no large black markings on her chin or belly.
This is wonderful and amazing footage, but this particular shark is not DEEP BLUE....
"Haole Girl" though, as she has been named is just as awe-inspiring.
Please stop misidentifying the wrong shark, now that we know this particular one was not DEEP BLUE (who was there at a different time, seen by others)
    Re-check the sources and update.

yes, the very deep circular gouge on the right side near the anal fin, was very deep and was very fresh when she was videod in 2013 or so. That wound would have definitely healed by now, but it would have left a very very noticeable round scar.
and also, the 3-4 large rake markes/gouges on her left side, about equal with her dorsal fin, are not present.
i have seen the other picture of the "confirmed" pic of Deep Blue, but it is still too far away for me to see. i am not questioning if they saw her i'd just like to see it with my own eyes.

Aniket Sengupta .......I agree with you after watching other videos of " Deep Blue" that this shark was not her based on the scars and wound when deep blue was originally located and I believe she ( the famous shark diver) stated it was deep blue for click bait ( no pun intended) to attract people to view her videos. Then in another video still titled " deep Blue" again for click bait she revealed she is waiting for confirmation from the doctor scientist who discovered deep blue first.
Now the fact is, this is still a impressive massive sized female shark I feel is smaller than deep blue but I am not sure how much smaller. I can tell visually this one is though if you compare this one to the video of deep blue swimming near vertically along the divers cage. Still a impressive find.
What bothers me more, this lady and her team stated they were just diving and came across this shark when the fact is a group of fisherman located the shark eating on the whale carcass and reported the size of it. This lady and her team are out here taking credit in areas they did not do at all which frankly pisses me off that they are lying but on the other note, regardless of their lies on all of this, it truly was some nice video they captured of this other massive female white shark.

I have enjoyed watching Deep Blue ( on UA-cam) documentaries with teams of scientists, marine-biologists, the like who study GWs and particularly at Guadeloupe Island. One free -diver ( from France I believe)felt comfortable swimming with Blue there. The resident Mexican marine biologist spends a season tagging and catalogues GWs by markings & also indentations on the dorsal fin for further identification.( "like a finger print")
I'm sure most on this thread have seen these fascinating documentaries ( I don't mean shark week stunts). I thought it was amazing to discover the great distances GWs travel, & that Blue had been sighted in both Guadeloupe, Mx & Hawaii. And in the company of another huge pregnant female as captured with Ocean Ramsey. ( albeit those who say big but smaller than Blue. )

This is significant because the tremendous weight of these creatures is no longer supported by the water and the stress is incredibly dangerous as any fisherman knows who has caught large fish, things can go south quickly.
Yet, when a bunch of divers greet and meet one of these magnificent creatures on their underwater turf for a short time it's a crime.
    GIVE ME A BREAK.
Those sharks could give a rat's behind for those divers, they are the queens of their domain and all they see is slow, easy prey if they wanted.
If you want to really stress a shark bring an orca around, as they are the kings of the ocean.

Give me a break and cut the virtue signalling and stupid comparisons: as you can see, Great Whites don't give a fuck about harmless divers swimming with them and even petting them. They're not that agressive nor fearful. They may not be as friendly as dolphins but neither they're territorial. The way and moments this experts and their groups approach them are done in a professional and sistematized way, it's not just putting on some flippers and then jumping into the water. They themselves advice against approaching the shark without the company of experts. Doing this might actually help a lot to finally destroy their image of man eaters and show them as what they really are: powerful creatures without bad attitudes that won't do anything if you know when to approach them.
If this generates a lot of revenue for the conservation institutions and guides while the preservation objectives are achieved, then what the fuck is wrong?

So if there was this many other people why is it that the attention all seems to be going towards Ocean Ramsey as if she did something so unique?
You know what I see when I watch this? Human arrogance recorded alive and well! Let's see, we have a whale carcass and numerous different species of sharks KNOWN to attack humans, in fact the top 3 human killers are all right there - hey! Let's dive in and swim with them!!!
People are just so damn stupid - if just one of those sharks would have attacked and killed someone there is a good chance it would be hunted and killed, good going "marine biologist". That cameraman getting right up there and swimming around that carcass as the sharks are feeding really needs a good chomping as well. I get that it is a once in a lifetime experience and all that but I saw too many people getting way to cozy with that shark and what was her reasoning for touching the shark? With all those other sharks around you know the sharks are all on high alert for fear of being attacked as well by other sharks, and this woman decides it's OK to touch the shark several time? I will repeat, human arrogance is alive and well.

    • @alabamahebrew
      @alabamahebrew 5 років тому +2

@@alcapone8069 - There is a difference between being afraid of something and respecting something. I love the Great White shark and it angers me when people just want to see them killed because of some irrational fear they have of them, but at the same time...... I love Great White Sharks and I hate seeing supposed Marine Biologists showing us how they swim right up to these beasts and they don't get hurt. This I hate because now people will start harrassing these animals even more and you know some idiot is going to get killed and then what happens? They have to hunt down and shoot the human killing shark! When I saw how many other divers were in the water and I saw the whale carcass as well as the other breeds of sharks I was surprised at how careless we have become around sharks. What is the worst time to be around a shark? When it's hungry!! These sharks are all feeding and stupid human beings think it's OK to slap on some fins and grab a snorkel and jump in the water with them? Bulls and especially Tigers are known to attack humans!
Now think about this - it is a known fact that when a large shark enters an area the smaller sharks will get out of it's way right? So, we have a large group of known man eating sharks all gathered around and feeding on a whale carcass. Suddenly this beautiful 20 foot girl comes on to the scene and the smaller sharks will scatter, but they are still hungry. Now how much danger are those humans in?
It's really a catch 22 type of a thing - on one hand it's good they are showing these animals are just human thirsty killers but on the other hand are they misleading less trained people to attempt to jump in the water with these sharks? I have seen plenty of video's of other shark experts who say these ones who jump in the water with Great Whites are showing their arrogance and true lack of knowledge. Look how closely she gets to that sharks mouth and then touches it. Even if the shark had no interest in eating her, it could have felt threatened and taken her arm off.

It sucks to be someone who doesn't even understand or gotten to know these animals, even if the shark was hungry, it won't waste energy on a prey that can punch, kick or bite back at the face. Let alone, human flesh doesn't conserve them, we are mainly bone, so the shark would go after a seal or fish which is its natural diet.

They don't. Shark interaction is still dangerous and needs to be done in the right conditions with expert training or supervision, but it is not remotely the same as trying to interact with a wild bear you saw while hiking alone in Yosemite. In general, interaction with aquatic animals is completely different than interacting with land animals, because you're an alien in that environment. All in all, though, I wish people would stop assuming every animal is psychologically identical just because it lives in the wild, which is obviously not true if you look to any source beyond Joe Rogan on his fourth blunt while conversing with another UFC fighter.

Leave deep blue alone. She does her rounds and doesn't bother anyone!

Hey, let’s all swim with sharks! It’s safe, nothing to worry about.

Commenters are right. There was a circle of people harassing the shark. The narrator is wrong & I can speak from experience. Great White sharks are shy & very cautious predators. Mobbing Deep Blue as she was feeding was totally inappropriate. Ocean Ramsey instigated this "circus" & has done so on other occasions all over the world. Because of her videos people have a very skewed perception of Great Whites & other species of sharks. Her interactions with this shark alone are totally inappropriate (she should know better) & mislead people to think they too can swim safely with Great Whites, even Great Whites feeding on whale carcasses. Every shark behaves differently. Just because no one was attacked in this case does not mean one can generalise about what any shark will do, when feeding or otherwise. Ocean Ramsey's behaviour in this case is offensive, irresponsible & may very likely have been one of the reasons Deep Blue left the area without feeding as much as she needed to. A shark's skin is ultra sensitive to touch & vibrations in the water. Ramsey's hands all over the shark may have actually been an irritant to her or even painful, especially with Ramsey's repeated dives where handling the shark occurred, even prompting Deep Blue to ultimately leave an area she swam all the way from Mexico to visit for reasons we don't yet understand. To assume sharks ignore anything in order to feed is utterly wrong. Sharks ignore nothing. Also, Deep Blue hasn't lived as long as she has by being careless. Ocean Ramsey's irresponsible behaviour & insatiable need for publicity just may cause the death of Big Blue in the end.

One of the most dangerous, feared, ruthless killers in the world, swimming with a Great White Shark.

Just another guy here to say that's probably not Deep Blue. No signs of the scars Deep Blue has.

Interesting. Maybe because of the abundance of food offered by the whale carcass, the sharks go into a kind of mild stupor.

Bull sharks are exaggerated in danger to humans. The average great white will bite a human more than the average bull shark.

I dont think that is deep blue. This shark is about 16 feet long and deep blue was way fatter and maybe 18-20 feet long.
