I spotted it about the same time he did. I think it's either because we were looking for it or because it was so subtle. Most ads are really in your face and the moment I notice an ad I tune it out, unless it's a video ad in which case I try to scroll so I don't see it and if I can't scroll to hide the ad then I click the hamburger menu and hide the ad usually selecting the I've seen this ad too many times option (though I'm not particularly careful with my selection as I really just want the ad to disappear). On desktop I have good ad blockers though I do pay for UA-cam Premium so I'm actually paying for an ad free experience on UA-cam. I mostly run into ads when reading news on my phone, I use Smart News which opens the sites in it's own built in browser and no longer has the option to open them in my own browser (which has an ad blocker). Been thinking of switching to a different news app though the main problem is that news sites have been quite insistent on having a bunch of video ads which I absolutely hate. I can ignore a static ad, video ads draw my attention and make it extremely difficult to focus on reading and they eat up data and battery. I understand they need ads to make money (though if they were to work together and have a deal where I pay a small annual subscription to not have ads on most news sites I would absolutely take it) but video ads, especially when I can see two of them on screen at once and can't scroll past them, are a great way to get nothing from me.
Twitch’s problem is twofold: 1: Communities keep getting invaded and destroyed by these things. 2: The Homepage is PLASTERED with this stuff, and when it’s not, the “recommended” is, which you are NOT ABLE TO MODERATE I wouldn’t mind them being so much less focused on Gaming if there was a decent alternative, but there isn’t. UA-cam could probably make themselves the best by far in like a week, but instead the Live tab is unusable garbage.
Just checked, Twitch automatically does the "recommended" setting now instead of by numbers. The top 10 "recommended" in the Just chatting section, largest section by double so also promoted, were all girls sitting around naked. Their viewer numbers were low but they were "recommended" at the top of the list. You change the setting to by viewer count and its only 1 in the top 10 and that one wasn't one of the naked ones. Even in my own following tab, the first "recommended" stream by Twitch below the channels I follow was a girl sitting on her bed fully naked. Its hard to say that Twitch isn't actively doing this at this point.
The twitch topic highlights how much Luke and Linus would benefit from having guests on when they’re talking about a topic they’re in the dark about. They spent quite a while pondering why twitch gets picked up on more for this when most common users of twitch could tell them it’s because of how hard it is to avoid on twitch compared to other platforms.

I have a few cameras up at home, it started with nanny cams for my kids but it expanded to the landing outside my kids rooms because their rooms are in the loft, their playroom and the living room along with covering my outside spaces and at first my wife was very unsure about it but it quickly turned round to saying check the camera when you hear a bump at night along with all the things Linus said about checking on what really happened with the kids etc. The funniest one was when I installed the house alarm (at my wife’s request) I enabled door notifications including announcements via Alexa on my front door, back door, back gate, garage door and shed door. I demonstrated it to my wife and she was super not happy and lecturing me about how we don’t live in a corner store when Alexa announced the back gate opening, we instantly looked out back and discovered that my 4 year old boy had grown enough to reach the handle on the gate and on our way out she looked at me, pointed to the gate and said “that’s staying!” 😂
Careful for when you're kids get older and become more aware of the sensors and cameras and end up feeling like they're in a police state that monitors their every movement. Personally, I would have hated my parents if Alexa tattled on me any time I snuck out my bedroom window, had such technology existed at the time.

@@HVDynamo Once they're old enough you remove the camera from their rooms. Preventing teenagers from sneaking out and getting into trouble is fine in my book. Of course there is a balance, parents need to ensure kids have enough freedom/shouldn't be too overbearing but unless the parents are abusive there's no reason they shouldn't know when their kids are sneaking out the bedroom window (even if the kids were just sneaking off to the mall or something if they got hurt or lost and the parent had no idea where they were that's not a good thing).
I think the sexual content on Twitch is only a problem because you can't avoid it even if you want to, at least on UA-cam you generally have to go looking for it.
That being said, a Canadian friend of mine said it doesn't really make a big difference to him because Twitch is already constantly serving him ads for drugs and gambling.
Agreed, I've rarely ever seen explicit content on UA-cam, but ti**y streamers are constantly on the front page of Twitch. Even if you try to block the Just Chatting category.
you'll see explicit content if you're looking at trending music, and there's often clickbait featuring quite explicit imagery that might pop up in your recommended feed I believe that the problem with Twitch (and Twitter) is the wave of only fans girls who are promoting their accounts, as random people get much better visibility on that website (and X) to other accounts than on something like Facebook, Instagram, UA-cam, or Reddit.
@@corprall Video auto-play is on by default, and even then, you might click on a video you didn't intend to see because of the title or thumbnail. Speaking of, thumbnails are visible and often use the sex-bait tactic, though I feel like shorts are a bit worse with that. It will also depend on what you watch, since that will change your recommendations. Incognito doesn't mean "no tracking" either, since my brother always uses incognito, and whenever I am on the router I get recommendations based on what he watches. But I'm not sure how incognito-mode recommendations work.
I'm sure he just needs a break haha, don't blame him he's gotten pretty popular here. He could probably spin off some sort of LTT reacts video or Wan show discussion channel and get alot of views
@@justinv3080. Nope, timestamp guy can't take a break. CPU's 6 years old now and has finally decided to let go - this was covered in last WAN Show's timestamps and on reddit as well. Will order one to replace it soon. For now, using a Latitude laptop that's 13 years old to do the job temporarily (was a good decision to keep the stamps on a centralized Google document.) Also, that's called piggybacking off of another creator and uh, I'd rather stick to timestamping.
Linus talking about sign made me decide to start learning Australian sign language. I've already learnt the basics, and just that alone is a massive improvement over knowing nothing.
I think it would be fine if you had a "block nude content" toggle, would be ridiculously easy to implement, and if anyone isn't tagged correctly you just reprimand them like UA-cam (is supposed to do) Just make it a toggle that is off by default
Twitch is also pitched as a child friendly space. Which the other platforms aren't. That is the hardest thing for Twitch to balance. Make that toggle and set it so only an adult can toggle it on/off? What about a new account? How do you verify adults? Technically it's easy, process wise it's tough.
I don't really use twitch, but when I heard the updated TOS, it sounded reasonable to me because I assumed that there was a 'Show mature content' toggle, like every other site has. If there isn't, then IMO twitch really dropped the ball here.
Lets be honest, even on child friendly spaces we have an extremely minimal amount of sites that have an age verification that isn't "Click here if you are 18 years of age or older" so age verification really isn't an issue aside from the few states that are trying to make that a thing. @@myklebuster

The reality is the vast majority of LTT's fanbase are PCMR folks that either don't own PS5 or only use it for it's exclusives. There are a bunch of us working adults with families and no longer have gaming rigs and the PS5 is our only gaming platform - sometimes I want to be able to play the PS5 while my wife still watches the TV. It's an interesting first generation of the product and I'd only recommend it for those with the disposable income for it but it's interest nonetheless. The reality is the people who are commenting here aren't this demographic. I think if the review was posted say on MKBHD's channel for example which is a lot more casual, it would get less hate.
While I agree with you overall, one of the criticisms of the Portal is that you can already use PS Remote Play from just about any other device for cheaper, including just clipping a controller onto your phone. With that said, now that the Portal is out, I think that's died down because it includes Dualsense features you wouldn't get on other devices.
The problem is that the device is a restricted console product without any of the benefits you'd normally get from restricted console products. You can buy a Walmart tablet for $150 that is way better in quality and can be used for everything else that a tablet can normally do but the Portal can't. Then you can buy attachments to clip on your existing Dualsenses. It is effectively manufactured e-waste and it blew my mind Linus didn't realize it, instead rattling down the potential costs. But no, sorry, there's cheaper tablets that are way better and he was simply misinformed. It's not only LTT viewers who generally disagree with the Portal either, it's most people of any demographic.

Just because you're tech savvy and could take the time and work to do all of that and make it work, doesn't mean anyone would. Because most of the users DON'T want to buy a tablet (which ARE terrible, android tablets have been on freefall for decades for reasons), buy an attachment for the controller, go through the hassle of setting it all up with google play store/services, get the controller working (and deal with its latency), set everything up and THEN play - And I DOUBT that $150 tablets have a decent hardware for streaming, most can barely handle android's animations, especially considering that whatever you buy at walmart probably won't be as optimized. Hell, if you ever used Android Custom ROMs in the past, you should know how much Google apps/services/play store weigh down the hardware, just by themselves. People just want a thing that looks good, and plays their favorite games out of the box, the Portal is exactly that, no hassle, no huge set-up, no other attachments, and you also don't need to charge two devices (controller + tablet). I like how tech savvy people completely disregard user experience because they're willing to deal with it and make it work, completely forgetting that most regular people wouldn't. You are just not the target demographic for this, don't buy it and move on.

That bit about story endings was spot on. I always have love for HK action movies because of the no fear endings. One of my favs ends with a girl happily waiting for her boyfriend to arrive for a date while he is bleeding out in a gutter... It's perfect.
On the issue of youtube pulling the monetization thing, I think this was brought to the forefront by the recent sssniperwolf debacle. Because when they finally got around to doing something about it, it was quickly discovered that while they 'demonetized' her, they only demonetized one of her 5 channels, and not even her main one. So they got a lot of flack for what was pretty blatant favoritism. (And yes, it was blatant, given it took almost two weeks to get them to act in the first place, and she got only a few weeks of demonetization over something that other channels have been taken down over in the past). So now, they could say they're punishing they're traffic drivers and never actually have to do so.

Preorders can make sense with a physical product that can run out (like a screwdriver) and may take time to be restocked, or might not be at all. They can also make sense for limited runs where they are using preorders to determine how much product to make. Where preorders are really dumb is with digital products like games, where there's no limited stock and there's no real advantage vs just waiting and buying it later.
I have never preordered anything. One tiny advantage of preordering digital goods is giving money to the provider at their most cash limited time. For some companies this can be what saves them from layoffs, which requires them to eventually hire replacements.
I never hear anybody bring up the how to train your dragon books. They were some of my favorites growing up and it's a shame that because of the movie's success people skip out on the books assuming they're the same. They're both great but so different

For the preorder thing. Preordering a physical product is WAY different than a digital good. They don't need to make more of the digital good, they have infinite. You need to actually make the physical good so it's very useful to know how much demand there is and to make sure you can cover the entire initial demand plus some. Not sure why you are making them seem like the same thing, they are not.
They're obviously not the same exact thing, but at the end of the day, a company says hey you can give us money now, even though the product you're buying doesn't exist yet. It's a risky practice for that financially incentivizes companies to abuse consumers, which has happened in the past. However, consumers choose to do it anyway. If you're against pre-orders for big companies you should be against pre-orders for LTT. Any other stance is inconsistent.
Part of the reason Twitch gets more flack for nudity is because it's a livestreaming site. There are only so many people that stream at any given time so you can resonably see all of them. Also their algorithm pushes it to the frontpage because you have a no name stream which suddenly got a bunch of "organic traffick" so the algorithm figures everyone wants to see it.
Its even worse than that. I just went over to check it out because of all this after months/years of avoiding Twitch because of this behavior. Not only was there promotion of such things on the front page, if you go to the top section, Just chatting, the "recommended" channels top 10 were all girls sitting around naked. These were the recommended specifically, because when you change over to top viewer numbers there are only 1 in that top ten and it automatically goes to the "recommended" setting when you are on the site. I went to my own favorited section, the part directly below who you follow are Twitch recommended streams, the first one in my own favorite tab was a girl sitting on her bed fully naked. Twitch is actively recommending these. Its not "organic" when they are pushing this content to the top of the list even above the top viewed streams.

@@ruukinen Think it was timing somewhat, I checked again and yeah 3 of the top were topless meta, a few more still the same sexualized stuff, and once again my own followed page has the naked girl "recommended" by Twitch. Also keep in mind when I checked an hour or so ago it was around 8am and the top ten were those meta, check sometime in the evening Stateside. The point is partially that it IS a tiny minority of the site, and yet its at the top of the lists somehow even when the numbers aren't there meaning that Twitch is promoting these things when they aren't even as popular as other streams.

I don't have access to the backend, but I would assume they're getting much higher numbers than the algorithm is expecting for that channel so therfore the algorithm shoots them to the top. It's also possible that the algoritm struggles to categorize the streams because a lot of people from different viewer categories are watching so the algorithm serves it to all categories to try to figure out the correct category.
Eh, it's the usual Bible thumpers and parents who think the whole world shares responsibility for raising their children. I would have respected Twitch more if they had ignored these people and done what they wanted. First off, we know the people complaining were almost certainly a very vocal minority, as per usual, not the majority who probably didn't say anything about it because they have many other things going on in their lives that are more important to them, and it's sad that companies like Twitch are continually bowing to whoever can scream loudest.
The difference between having sexual content on twitct/youtube and having to do several keystrokes is the same as between having a lock on the door and not - disouragement. The thief can break the lock given the time, but the lock makes him think about your house and the others that have simpler or no locks at all. It's not prevention, it's making it more bothersome.
I think the main difference between Twitch and UA-cam is that UA-cam doesn't really promote it. If you search up yoga you'll find it but it won't appear on the homepage, in general. In contrast, they literally opened just chatting and it's there.
Not only just there, but the automatic "recommended" setting puts them on the top of the list above the highest viewer count streams. Its hard to not think that Twitch is actively promoting these things when the top 10 "recommended were all naked girls streaming, change that to by viewer count and its only one of that type and not even one of the naked ones.

I think gaming's evolved to the point where it’s impossible to categorize/generalize it as either more minor-friendly or not. There’s so much variety in the types of games available and in the people playing them. Like is reading/watching movies minor-friendly? Depends on what you read or watch
IMO it's super easy to filter. Every game studio above a revenue threshold (say 100k) should have to pay a governing body to play the entire game and rate its content. Then have those outcomes tabulated and filterable on any platform that shows the game's content.

Linus, I would not describe the postgame true ending in sea of stars as “chickening out”. It’s quite possibly the most earned I’ve ever felt that media trope has ever been. Looking up a synopsis does not do it justice. There’s real justification, it doesn’t nullify what happened before, and it doesn’t prevent real emotion from both the characters and myself as a player. I was fully expecting them to chicken out, until I gave up on them chickening out because you literally fight the final boss.

If I had a house like Linus I'd definitely have security cameras like that. As it is I have external cctv cameras on each side ( local only) and a ring camera external only , garage camera , and one that can be enabled inside by the front entry way. They have been useful numerous times.
The problem was you can easily find these explicit streams easily in the art and just chatting categories among normal streams. Twitch should make a hidden category for explicit content that takes effort to find.
I feel like thirst trap social media posts are the gateway drug. Twitch is more like your first hit of the good stuff (meaning parasocial sexual attraction).
Twitch is a 13+ platform so they definitely need to crack down on having mature content properly labeled, and perhaps even hidden behind a filtered search setting similar to Google's safe search. Buuuut I gotta say twitch isn't the only one guilty of pushing smut. My dad is 70, and likes to use UA-cam as a reference when it comes to working on cars. In fact it's about all he uses the platform for, and yet UA-cam algorithm keeps recommending he watch nude yoga.
I've full access to his phone, and he's FAR from tech savvy enough to be hiding shit. No weird shit there, hardly anything there to be honest as the phone has only been in his possession for a week at this point.

in Canada its 2 hours pay if you show up for your scheduled shift and there is nothing to do and its 4 hours if you start working but run out of things to do mid way through (though even in unions they usually force people to stay the entire 4 hours) in many cases in terms of unions themselves this is changing/will change to if you are scheduled for an 8 hour shift you get paid the 8 hour shift in its entirety if you showed up for regardless if you worked it or not. and of course time and half/double time is accounted for dependent on hours worked prior/stats etc.

I spotted it about the same time he did. I think it's either because we were looking for it or because it was so subtle. Most ads are really in your face and the moment I notice an ad I tune it out, unless it's a video ad in which case I try to scroll so I don't see it and if I can't scroll to hide the ad then I click the hamburger menu and hide the ad usually selecting the I've seen this ad too many times option (though I'm not particularly careful with my selection as I really just want the ad to disappear). On desktop I have good ad blockers though I do pay for UA-cam Premium so I'm actually paying for an ad free experience on UA-cam. I mostly run into ads when reading news on my phone, I use Smart News which opens the sites in it's own built in browser and no longer has the option to open them in my own browser (which has an ad blocker). Been thinking of switching to a different news app though the main problem is that news sites have been quite insistent on having a bunch of video ads which I absolutely hate. I can ignore a static ad, video ads draw my attention and make it extremely difficult to focus on reading and they eat up data and battery. I understand they need ads to make money (though if they were to work together and have a deal where I pay a small annual subscription to not have ads on most news sites I would absolutely take it) but video ads, especially when I can see two of them on screen at once and can't scroll past them, are a great way to get nothing from me.

Twitch’s problem is twofold:
1: Communities keep getting invaded and destroyed by these things.
2: The Homepage is PLASTERED with this stuff, and when it’s not, the “recommended” is, which you are NOT ABLE TO MODERATE
I wouldn’t mind them being so much less focused on Gaming if there was a decent alternative, but there isn’t. UA-cam could probably make themselves the best by far in like a week, but instead the Live tab is unusable garbage.
Just checked, Twitch automatically does the "recommended" setting now instead of by numbers. The top 10 "recommended" in the Just chatting section, largest section by double so also promoted, were all girls sitting around naked. Their viewer numbers were low but they were "recommended" at the top of the list. You change the setting to by viewer count and its only 1 in the top 10 and that one wasn't one of the naked ones. Even in my own following tab, the first "recommended" stream by Twitch below the channels I follow was a girl sitting on her bed fully naked. Its hard to say that Twitch isn't actively doing this at this point.
The twitch topic highlights how much Luke and Linus would benefit from having guests on when they’re talking about a topic they’re in the dark about. They spent quite a while pondering why twitch gets picked up on more for this when most common users of twitch could tell them it’s because of how hard it is to avoid on twitch compared to other platforms.

I have a few cameras up at home, it started with nanny cams for my kids but it expanded to the landing outside my kids rooms because their rooms are in the loft, their playroom and the living room along with covering my outside spaces and at first my wife was very unsure about it but it quickly turned round to saying check the camera when you hear a bump at night along with all the things Linus said about checking on what really happened with the kids etc.
The funniest one was when I installed the house alarm (at my wife’s request) I enabled door notifications including announcements via Alexa on my front door, back door, back gate, garage door and shed door. I demonstrated it to my wife and she was super not happy and lecturing me about how we don’t live in a corner store when Alexa announced the back gate opening, we instantly looked out back and discovered that my 4 year old boy had grown enough to reach the handle on the gate and on our way out she looked at me, pointed to the gate and said “that’s staying!” 😂
Careful for when you're kids get older and become more aware of the sensors and cameras and end up feeling like they're in a police state that monitors their every movement. Personally, I would have hated my parents if Alexa tattled on me any time I snuck out my bedroom window, had such technology existed at the time.

@@HVDynamo Once they're old enough you remove the camera from their rooms. Preventing teenagers from sneaking out and getting into trouble is fine in my book. Of course there is a balance, parents need to ensure kids have enough freedom/shouldn't be too overbearing but unless the parents are abusive there's no reason they shouldn't know when their kids are sneaking out the bedroom window (even if the kids were just sneaking off to the mall or something if they got hurt or lost and the parent had no idea where they were that's not a good thing).
I think the sexual content on Twitch is only a problem because you can't avoid it even if you want to, at least on UA-cam you generally have to go looking for it.
That being said, a Canadian friend of mine said it doesn't really make a big difference to him because Twitch is already constantly serving him ads for drugs and gambling.
Agreed, I've rarely ever seen explicit content on UA-cam, but ti**y streamers are constantly on the front page of Twitch. Even if you try to block the Just Chatting category.
you'll see explicit content if you're looking at trending music, and there's often clickbait featuring quite explicit imagery that might pop up in your recommended feed
I believe that the problem with Twitch (and Twitter) is the wave of only fans girls who are promoting their accounts, as random people get much better visibility on that website (and X) to other accounts than on something like Facebook, Instagram, UA-cam, or Reddit.

@@corprall Video auto-play is on by default, and even then, you might click on a video you didn't intend to see because of the title or thumbnail. Speaking of, thumbnails are visible and often use the sex-bait tactic, though I feel like shorts are a bit worse with that. It will also depend on what you watch, since that will change your recommendations.
Incognito doesn't mean "no tracking" either, since my brother always uses incognito, and whenever I am on the router I get recommendations based on what he watches. But I'm not sure how incognito-mode recommendations work.

CPU's 6 years old now and has finally decided to let go - this was covered in last WAN Show's timestamps and on reddit as well. Will order one to replace it soon. For now, using a Latitude laptop that's 13 years old to do the job temporarily (was a good decision to keep the stamps on a centralized Google document.)

Twitch is also pitched as a child friendly space. Which the other platforms aren't. That is the hardest thing for Twitch to balance. Make that toggle and set it so only an adult can toggle it on/off? What about a new account? How do you verify adults? Technically it's easy, process wise it's tough.
I don't really use twitch, but when I heard the updated TOS, it sounded reasonable to me because I assumed that there was a 'Show mature content' toggle, like every other site has. If there isn't, then IMO twitch really dropped the ball here.

That was incredibly well said by Linus. The reality is the vast majority of LTT's fanbase are PCMR folks that either don't own PS5 or only use it for it's exclusives. There are a bunch of us working adults with families and no longer have gaming rigs and the PS5 is our only gaming platform - sometimes I want to be able to play the PS5 while my wife still watches the TV. It's an interesting first generation of the product and I'd only recommend it for those with the disposable income for it but it's interest nonetheless.
The reality is the people who are commenting here aren't this demographic. I think if the review was posted say on MKBHD's channel for example which is a lot more casual, it would get less hate.
While I agree with you overall, one of the criticisms of the Portal is that you can already use PS Remote Play from just about any other device for cheaper, including just clipping a controller onto your phone. With that said, now that the Portal is out, I think that's died down because it includes Dualsense features you wouldn't get on other devices.
The problem is that the device is a restricted console product without any of the benefits you'd normally get from restricted console products. You can buy a Walmart tablet for $150 that is way better in quality and can be used for everything else that a tablet can normally do but the Portal can't. Then you can buy attachments to clip on your existing Dualsenses. It is effectively manufactured e-waste and it blew my mind Linus didn't realize it, instead rattling down the potential costs. But no, sorry, there's cheaper tablets that are way better and he was simply misinformed.
It's not only LTT viewers who generally disagree with the Portal either, it's most people of any demographic.

Because most of the users DON'T want to buy a tablet (which ARE terrible, android tablets have been on freefall for decades for reasons), buy an attachment for the controller, go through the hassle of setting it all up with google play store/services, get the controller working (and deal with its latency), set everything up and THEN play - And I DOUBT that $150 tablets have a decent hardware for streaming, most can barely handle android's animations, especially considering that whatever you buy at walmart probably won't be as optimized. Hell, if you ever used Android Custom ROMs in the past, you should know how much Google apps/services/play store weigh down the hardware, just by themselves.
People just want a thing that looks good, and plays their favorite games out of the box, the Portal is exactly that, no hassle, no huge set-up, no other attachments, and you also don't need to charge two devices (controller + tablet).
I like how tech savvy people completely disregard user experience because they're willing to deal with it and make it work, completely forgetting that most regular people wouldn't.
You are just not the target demographic for this, don't buy it and move on.

On the issue of youtube pulling the monetization thing, I think this was brought to the forefront by the recent sssniperwolf debacle. Because when they finally got around to doing something about it, it was quickly discovered that while they 'demonetized' her, they only demonetized one of her 5 channels, and not even her main one. So they got a lot of flack for what was pretty blatant favoritism. (And yes, it was blatant, given it took almost two weeks to get them to act in the first place, and she got only a few weeks of demonetization over something that other channels have been taken down over in the past). So now, they could say they're punishing they're traffic drivers and never actually have to do so.
It's like when they removed dislikes because it was easier to cover things up on their end that way

Preorders can make sense with a physical product that can run out (like a screwdriver) and may take time to be restocked, or might not be at all. They can also make sense for limited runs where they are using preorders to determine how much product to make. Where preorders are really dumb is with digital products like games, where there's no limited stock and there's no real advantage vs just waiting and buying it later.
I have never preordered anything.
One tiny advantage of preordering digital goods is giving money to the provider at their most cash limited time. For some companies this can be what saves them from layoffs, which requires them to eventually hire replacements.

For the preorder thing. Preordering a physical product is WAY different than a digital good. They don't need to make more of the digital good, they have infinite. You need to actually make the physical good so it's very useful to know how much demand there is and to make sure you can cover the entire initial demand plus some. Not sure why you are making them seem like the same thing, they are not.
They're obviously not the same exact thing, but at the end of the day, a company says hey you can give us money now, even though the product you're buying doesn't exist yet. It's a risky practice for that financially incentivizes companies to abuse consumers, which has happened in the past. However, consumers choose to do it anyway. If you're against pre-orders for big companies you should be against pre-orders for LTT. Any other stance is inconsistent.

Part of the reason Twitch gets more flack for nudity is because it's a livestreaming site. There are only so many people that stream at any given time so you can resonably see all of them. Also their algorithm pushes it to the frontpage because you have a no name stream which suddenly got a bunch of "organic traffick" so the algorithm figures everyone wants to see it.
Its even worse than that. I just went over to check it out because of all this after months/years of avoiding Twitch because of this behavior. Not only was there promotion of such things on the front page, if you go to the top section, Just chatting, the "recommended" channels top 10 were all girls sitting around naked. These were the recommended specifically, because when you change over to top viewer numbers there are only 1 in that top ten and it automatically goes to the "recommended" setting when you are on the site. I went to my own favorited section, the part directly below who you follow are Twitch recommended streams, the first one in my own favorite tab was a girl sitting on her bed fully naked. Twitch is actively recommending these. Its not "organic" when they are pushing this content to the top of the list even above the top viewed streams.

Out of like 100 streams only 3 where visibly doing the "topless meta" or even in bikinis. I don't know if I'm "unlucky" with the timing but my experience is that it's a tiny minority.
@@ruukinen Think it was timing somewhat, I checked again and yeah 3 of the top were topless meta, a few more still the same sexualized stuff, and once again my own followed page has the naked girl "recommended" by Twitch. Also keep in mind when I checked an hour or so ago it was around 8am and the top ten were those meta, check sometime in the evening Stateside.
The point is partially that it IS a tiny minority of the site, and yet its at the top of the lists somehow even when the numbers aren't there meaning that Twitch is promoting these things when they aren't even as popular as other streams.

I don't have access to the backend, but I would assume they're getting much higher numbers than the algorithm is expecting for that channel so therfore the algorithm shoots them to the top. It's also possible that the algoritm struggles to categorize the streams because a lot of people from different viewer categories are watching so the algorithm serves it to all categories to try to figure out the correct category.
Eh, it's the usual Bible thumpers and parents who think the whole world shares responsibility for raising their children. I would have respected Twitch more if they had ignored these people and done what they wanted. First off, we know the people complaining were almost certainly a very vocal minority, as per usual, not the majority who probably didn't say anything about it because they have many other things going on in their lives that are more important to them, and it's sad that companies like Twitch are continually bowing to whoever can scream loudest.

The difference between having sexual content on twitct/youtube and having to do several keystrokes is the same as between having a lock on the door and not - disouragement. The thief can break the lock given the time, but the lock makes him think about your house and the others that have simpler or no locks at all. It's not prevention, it's making it more bothersome.

I think the main difference between Twitch and UA-cam is that UA-cam doesn't really promote it. If you search up yoga you'll find it but it won't appear on the homepage, in general. In contrast, they literally opened just chatting and it's there.
Not only just there, but the automatic "recommended" setting puts them on the top of the list above the highest viewer count streams. Its hard to not think that Twitch is actively promoting these things when the top 10 "recommended were all naked girls streaming, change that to by viewer count and its only one of that type and not even one of the naked ones.

I think gaming's evolved to the point where it’s impossible to categorize/generalize it as either more minor-friendly or not. There’s so much variety in the types of games available and in the people playing them. Like is reading/watching movies minor-friendly? Depends on what you read or watch
IMO it's super easy to filter. Every game studio above a revenue threshold (say 100k) should have to pay a governing body to play the entire game and rate its content. Then have those outcomes tabulated and filterable on any platform that shows the game's content.

Linus, I would not describe the postgame true ending in sea of stars as “chickening out”. It’s quite possibly the most earned I’ve ever felt that media trope has ever been. Looking up a synopsis does not do it justice. There’s real justification, it doesn’t nullify what happened before, and it doesn’t prevent real emotion from both the characters and myself as a player. I was fully expecting them to chicken out, until I gave up on them chickening out because you literally fight the final boss.

If I had a house like Linus I'd definitely have security cameras like that. As it is I have external cctv cameras on each side ( local only) and a ring camera external only , garage camera , and one that can be enabled inside by the front entry way. They have been useful numerous times.
The problem was you can easily find these explicit streams easily in the art and just chatting categories among normal streams. Twitch should make a hidden category for explicit content that takes effort to find.

in Canada its 2 hours pay if you show up for your scheduled shift and there is nothing to do and its 4 hours if you start working but run out of things to do mid way through (though even in unions they usually force people to stay the entire 4 hours)
in many cases in terms of unions themselves this is changing/will change to if you are scheduled for an 8 hour shift you get paid the 8 hour shift in its entirety if you showed up for regardless if you worked it or not.
and of course time and half/double time is accounted for dependent on hours worked prior/stats etc.
I’m the same with finding something I love then making sure I will have it forever. A knife I absolutely love and use daily in and out of work. I’m only on my second one in six years. They had a sale years ago I now own 14 all packaged. I will own this knife till my death.
