the calories are coming from Glycerin and Sorbitol. Both are sugar alcohols and wont spike blood sugar (as much), but still have caloric value. Sorbitol in particular can also have a potent laxative effect, so I'll be avoiding this stuff! Cool to see they're also using Stevia and Erythritol for sweetness so they can use less Glycerin and Sorbitol; the calories could have been even higher without their use. This is good for an easy product, but I'll probably just buy those unsweetened Kool-Aid packets and sweeten it with Allulose or a blend of Allulose/Erythritol/Stevia Reb-D or Reb-M (both taste better than the standard Reb-A). Only thing I haven't figured out yet is how concentrated to make the kool-aid mix. It'd need to be less diluted than standard so that it tastes strong enough frozen, but not sure how much to cut it down by yet.
Ironically, allulose gives me massive cramps stomach issues. It's the only sugar substitute that does that to me, personally.... Too bad for me too, because it has great flavor. This stuff didn't do that to me, but I thought it might. Working on some other stuff just using that and xanthan gum to try to get it done without the calories.
Sugar alcohols like erythritol, while not containing calories, does contain carbohydrates. I find it odd that he only talks about the calorie numbers and never once mentions carbohydrates, especially since diabetics watch carbs in order to keep their glucose levels manageable. Those of you not in the know, here’s a quick FYI: Sugar alcohols have two molecules. One molecule CAN be broken down by the body and the other cannot. So when measuring carbohydrates sweetened by sugar alcohols, make sure to cut the number in half for accuracies sake.

That's the dilemma... Adding anything that's already sweet to the diet soda mix will make it waaaay sweet. My hope that I can use xanthan gum or something like that to get the mix to behave and slush up. You can add the water probably, but it's gonna make it really flat in the process too.
