"I read the news today, oh boy"... Karl Wallinger left this world, way too soon! God rest his beautiful soul. He was so gifted, talented, unique, innovative, and original, yet totally inspired by The Beatles, without even coming close to ripping off The Beatles (like so many others have done). Absolute genius, to say the least. RIP, my friend.
How the hell does this not have 1 million views!?? 34,000?? I feel like this song flew under the radar and never got the recognition it deserves. And this video is magical!
Same. His family said it was another sudden stroke, today. We can only be thankful for the heavenly tunes that Karl left us, and lucky that we lived in the same time as that uniquely gifted musician and songsmith.
My sister once bought this album for my birthday on cassette. Not only did i wear it out, i went and got it on CD!! Over a couple of months, i got 4 more WP albums!! Amazing songs!!
Call me up when the night is over- beautiful song Karl. You are my favourite musician. Notice, how i spelled favorite the English way, for you. Was raised in London, but American.
I always interpreted this track as a commentary on the relative downer attitude that seemed to pervade rock and pop music in the 90s. But that probably was just my own take on it. Such an upbeat kick this song has got.
Please could someone let me know the title of the World Party song that starts with the lyrics 'I heard about the problems down on the farm' Hope you can help,Thank you.
If ? The son of man is raised.........? It is to call the all up unto him.........? IF ? The son of man is not raised......? We so say the all of this world of darkness. Perished giving witness in correctly......... I ask did Carl or does Carl understand what he is singing about...........? Do you.............?

I feel like you could say this about pretty much every WP/KW song. A massively underrated band & songwriter!
Brilliant! The entire Egyptology CD is great!
Absolutely one of the best records ever!
A classic yet to be found by the world, cheers to thinking someday they will call this one up!
I feel like I lost a friend but never met him.

The ghost of Jeff Lynne lives.
Jeff Lynne is still alive... so... Jeff Lynne Lives :)
Both voices are very similar :)
And now when Lynne sings, we can say the ghost of Wallinger lives.

The song is great, and the clip is very Peter Gabriel meets Sgt. Peppers... somewhere in Greenland... what's not to like??!!
This would have been another Robbie Williams Number 1 !!!!
