I'm a dealer for Janome home sewing machines and Grace Company Frames. You can find all of the machines and frames we carry at: leahday.com/
I'm late, I just purchased the speed control, and love your instructions, although I had to rewind to see how you stopped it (I have not set it up yet on my frame). Thanks to you, I have an understanding of the accessory now. I just need to install and practice like you said.
Glad it helped!
I made my own frame and when I put the speed controller on the handle bars I took apart the foot and put the thread cut button on the head of the sewing machine with double sided tape. Great video thanks.
Speed controller is a game changer!
Looks like a nice feature
As always, an excellent video. Thanks so very much for sharing with us. I always learn something new.
Hey, Leah! I love these Q-zone videos. I got mine during the big sale and really enjoy it. My only beef is with the speed controller I bought with it. It will work fine for a row or so, then it will either not switch off and I'll get the dreaded knot on the back or after stopping it won't start. I have to turn off the machine and turn it back on. Have you heard of such a thing?
I'll add that the machine on my frame is a Babylock Jane . When I bought the speed controller, Jane wasn't on the list. I selected the Brother PQ1500, since it's essentially the same machine.
Thanks for all the teaching and inspiration! You got me quilting my own quilts!
Hi Betty - It sounds like your machine isn't fully compatible with that speed controller. We still don't have a Speed Controller compatible with your Jane, but we do have a Sure Stitch Regulator that is compatible! leahday.com/products/grace-sure-stitch-regulator
Betty, I have the Tin Lizzie sit down and they don't have a speed controller for it, so I had my sewing machine guy convert my foot pedal to a push button on/off switch that I was able to zip tie to the bars. It doesn't have the speed control buttons on it, but I can easily reach them on the machine. This is much better than using the foot control and he says if I ever need to convert it back to the foot control he can. Check with your local repair shop, maybe they can do it.
@@LeahDay Thanks for the note, Leah! I have looked at the regulator, but the price is kinda steep for me. I'm using the foot pedal and a wheeled chair. Almost like skateboarding while I quilt! That's working okay for now. It may be that I wasn't being attentive to how much pressure I was using on the buttons, so I may try it out again. Maybe I'll ask Santa for the regulator! LOL! Thanks for all you give us here.
@@AngieEKnowlesTextileArtistry Thanks for the tip, Angie. I'll look into that possibility.
You are welcome. I found it to be a much better solution than the foot pedal and he didn't charge me much.
Where do u get the top handles . I have only the handles underneath
seems to be a big learning curve ,, any advice or tricks I keep getting wads of thread under the quilt
You're probably forgetting to lower your foot. Wads of thread implies there is no tension on your top thread, which results in immediate birds nests on the back of the quilt. Always remember to lower your foot so the surface is just skimming the quilt top.
Hello Leah, is the speed controller compatible with the pfaff quilt expression 4.2? Thank you, your video’s are brilliant.
No, unfortunately I do not have any Pfaff machines on the compatibility list.
@@LeahDay thank you for taking the time to check. 🙁
Hey Leah I have a JANOME Skyline S5 and was wondering if the speed controller would work and witch one to buy
Can you demonstrate the Grace stitch regulator on the Janome 1600?
I just published that video too! ua-cam.com/video/GAMcfzsjNOk/v-deo.html
In this video, are you using a stitch regulator presser foot? Looks like a free motion foot but hard to see . Thanks
No, I'm using a regular darning foot. This machine doesn't have a stitch regulated presser foot like the Bernina BSR.
@@LeahDay thanks
For those of us still using a foot pedal, is anyone having problems wi try the cord not reaching ?
I don’t see Baby Lock Jazz 2 on the list. I do see SOME baby locks. But not the Jazz. Do you think it is compatible?
No, it's not compatible. I've had this question a lot and the Jazz is only compatible with the newest Sure Stitch Elite stitch regulator.
I see this message is 7 months old. 😅. I called Grace Company last week and they said their latest stitch regulator IS compatible with the jazz 2. I just ordered it in last week and it works
Leah, I have Janome 6700P (on my Cutie) and would like to order the speed controller from you. PLEASE let me know if it is compatible? It's similar to the 1600P, with a few extra features...I think. I'm ready to order as soon as I hear from you. TIA.
Unfortunately no, if it's not on the list, it's probably not compatible. I've experienced similar machines not working and they literally do nothing while the speed controller is on.
My best advice is to continue using your foot pedal, get more experience with your frame and machine, and then when time and budget allows, upgrade to a Qnique longarm with a stitch regulator. It will make everything so much easier!
@@LeahDay I've contacted Grace Frame Co re: Speed Control for use with my Janome 6700P. They've tested and found it works on my machine! I also have an email from Ron, one of their tech guys, to confirm. So, they plan to add it online. Just thought you'd like to know. I've ordered the speed control with single prong, as Ron's suggested. Thanks for your kind reply.
@@LeahDay Hi Leah, I now have the same (model) Grace speed controller. Works perfectly with my Janome 6700P. Yay. So happy I decided to go for it. I enjoy using it to quilt with my Cutie frame. MUCH easier NOT having to use the foot pedal on the floor and instead having it easily accessible on the handle bar as in your demo. Sometimes, we just need to have faith...right?!
Hi Leah, is there a speed controller that would be compatible with the Babylock Jazz?
Nope, not at this time.
Will this spped controller work with the baby lock jazz 2?
No, the Jazz 2 is not on the compatibility list for this accessory.
What can we do then for the Jazz 2. Foot pedal is a PAIN!!
